OKEMAH - Funeral services for Lillie L. Duncan, 92, grandmother of Seminole resident Venus Hendryx, were held Saturday afternoon at First Baptist Church.
Rev. Curtis Townley officiated at the service. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brother Funeral Home, Okemah.
Duncan died Friday, Jan. 15 at Colonial Park Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1906 in McAlester to John Thomas Landers and Anna Victoria Ingold.
A homemaker, she volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving a s a choir member and food and nursery worker for over 30 years.
Duncan moved from Sunrise to Okemah in 1950.
She married Albert Ray Duncan on July 13, 1926 in Memphis, Tenn. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1957.
Duncan was also preceded in death by her son, Tommy Duncan, and one brother, John Landers.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Young, Okemah, and Beverly Kay Breedlove, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Virgil Landers, Okemah; her twin sister, Lillian Shoupe, Okemah; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were family members.

Stacy Lee Edgell
Graveside services for Seminole resident Stacy Lee Edgell, 27, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Terry Patterson will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Edgell died Monday, June 28, 1999 at University Hospital.
He was born Jan. 12, 1972 in Richville, Utah to Harold C. and Elva (Griffith) Edgell.
He moved to Seminole four years ago from Arizona.
Edgell was an employee of Newton Walls in Shawnee.
Survivors include his parents, of the home; two brothers, James Cates, Page, Ariz., and Charlie Edgell, Albuquerque, N.M.; and two sisters, Joanna Ryder, Soda Spring, Idaho, and Mary Ellen Maestas, Bottle Mountain, Nev.

Lawrence Edwards Jr.
Memorial services for Earlsboro resident Lawrence Edwards Jr., 47, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Edwards died Tuesday, May 18, 1999 in an automobile accident west of Seminole on SH 9.
He was born March 5, 1952 in Eloy, Ariz. to Eliza (Davis) and Lawrence Edwards Sr.
A veteran, he served in the US Army.
Edwards was employed with TDK in Shawnee.
He married Barbara Finch on Dec. 20, 1998 in Gainesville, Texas. She survives him of the home.
Edwards was preceded in death by his parents.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sandra Provo, Midwest City; eight brothers, Bill, of Anaheim, Calif., Larry, of Denton, Texas, Louie, and John, both of Shawnee, Lofton, Earlsboro, Frank, of Brooksville, Juice, of Stillwater and Leslie, Garland, Texas; three sisters, Gloria Alexander, Los Angeles, Jan Lawrence, Chandler, Ariz., and Val Stargell, Shawnee; and three grandchildren.

Troy Edwards
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Troy Dean Edwards, 37, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Rev. Allan Colbert, Phoenix, Ariz., and Rev. Ernest Marshall, Muskogee, will officiate at the service.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today through Wednesday morning at the family home, 321 N. Park.
Edwards died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999 at Carl Albert Indian Hospital.
He was born Sept. 22, 1961 in Pawnee to John Laddis Edwards and Christine Larney Hotulke.
Edwards graduated in May, 1980 from Chilocco Indian School, and attended the Baptist Church in Miami.
He worked as a painter and roofer in the construction industry.
Survivors include his mother, of Seminole, and father, of Chickasha; one son, Anthony Troy Edwards, Moore; three brothers, Gary Alan Hotulke, Seminole, Vernon Harjo, Amarillo, Texas, and Johnny Ladd Edwards, Topeka, Kan.; six sisters, Sherry Ann Colbert, Phoenix, Ariz., Fawn Raye Edwards, Tulsa, Patricia Gibson, Konawa, Mona Nelson, Alburquerque, N.M., Rainee Edwards, Pueblo, Colo., and Shawnee Edwards, Albuquerque.
Casket bearers include Alvin Bahe, Gary Hotulke, Larry Harjo, Jimmy Harjo, Tim Larney and Christain Welch.
Honorary bearers include Tom Harjo, Robert Colbert, Glenn Edwards, Lee Edwards and Larry Harjo Jr.

Funeral services for Seminole area resident Horace Austic Elliott, 69, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Jason Yarbrough will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.
Elliott died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at his home in Wolf.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930 in Seminole County to Frank Austin Elliott and Othea (Partain) Elliott.
A veteran, Elliott served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He moved from Modesto, Calif. to the Seminole area in 1973, and retired from the oilfields.
Elliott was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Emmitt Lee Elliott in 1987, and one infant daughter.
Survivors include five sons, Gary Elliott, Seminole, Darrell Elliott, Konawa, Kenny Elliott, Seminole, Larry Elliott, Weatherford, and Donny Elliott, Flowermound, Texas; one daughter, Peggy Roulston, Shawnee; one brother, Herman Elliott, Seminole; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Casket bearers are listed as Amy Elmore, Gary Elliott, Jeremy Elliott, Derek Elliott, Chance Elliott and Kendra Elliott.
Honorary bearers include Zachary Elliott, Shannon Elliott and Griffin Elliott.

William Ellis Jr.
Funeral services for Cromwell resident William Niblack Ellis Jr., 85, were held today at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Okemah.
Rev. Don Lehman officiated at the service. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
Ellis died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999 at Creek Nation Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1914 in San Saba, Texas, to William Niblack Ellis Sr. and Kate Houghton (Flack) Ellis.
A veteran, he served is the US Air Force during World War II, The Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired from active duty as a Master Sergeant.
Ellis was a 32 degree Mason, past patron of Eastern Star, member of the American Legion and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He attended church at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Ellis was married to Melva Lee (Stone) Ellis on Aug. 14, 1950 in Waco, Texas at James Connaly Air Force Base. She survives him of their Cromwell home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Greer Ellis; and one grandson.
Other survivors include three sons, William Niblack Ellis III., Fort Walton, Fla., Rodney Tate Ellis, Lockhart, Texas, and George Thomas Ellis, Midwest City; one sister, Betty Collie, Abilene, Texas; one brother, Bryan Ellis, San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are listed as the United States Air Force.
Honorary pallbearers include Jack Forcum, Vernon Cavault, Darrell Been, Bill Roller and Paul Maxwell.

Bevie Elms
Funeral services for Seminole County area resident Bevie Ola Elms, 90, were held today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
Revs. Leon Lutts and W.F. Crow will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Elms died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at a Shawnee Hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1909 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to George and Bonnie (Flanigan) Blalock.
A homemaker, she lived most of her life in the Seminole and Shawnee areas.
Elms was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
She married W.C. "Claude) Elms on Sept. 6, 1928 in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death.
Elms was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Harvey Elms, Amarillo, Texas, and Trevis Elms, Shawnee; three sisters, Beulah Deatherage and Lenora Gill, both of Shawnee, and Beatrice Emory, Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family has suggested expressions of sympathy be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
