Hugh Emerson

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Hugh S. Emerson, 99, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mayfair Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.

Following the service, the family will depart for Hobart, where a graveside service will be held at the family plot in the Hobart Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home.

Emerson died Monday, May 3, 1999 at Westhaven Nursing Home in Stillwater.

He was born Oct. 9, 1899 at Sugar Grove, Ark., the seventh of 14 children born to Ervin Q. and Alice Evans Emerson.

Emerson was a teacher and school administrator for 43 years.

He was the founding superintendent of Bowlegs Public Schools, which at one time was the world’s largest Union Graded School.

Emerson also served as the first principal of Del City junior and senior high schools, and Kerr junior high in Del City.

He received his BA and BS degrees from East Central University in Ada, and an MS degree from Oklahoma A & M College, in addition to graduate work at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and OU.

Emerson was the author of "Study Practices of Junior and Senior High School students," and listed in Who’s Who in American Education and Greater Oklahoma City.

He worked with the Junior High School committee of the Oklahoma Curriculum Improvement Commission and the Second Schools Principals organization.

Emerson was past president of the Del City Lions Club, the OEA Central District, and served on the Tinker YMCA Board of Directors.

He was a former Deacon and Bible school teacher at the Mayfair Church of Christ before his move to Stillwater one year ago.

Emerson and his brother, Erle, published three religious sons together.

He was married to Elizabeth Price on Oct. 9, 1919. She preceded him in death in 1984.

Survivors include his children, Dr. H. Hugh Emerson, Brownsville, Texas, Dr. Glen D. Emerson, Del City and Mrs. Dennis Smith, Stillwater; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to Tipton Children’s Home, Tipton, or the charity of choice.

Donald Emmitt Jr.

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Donald Turner Emmitt Jr., 85, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville.

Louis Wright will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Neekamp Funeral Home.

Emmitt died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.

He was born Nov. 8, 1914 in Missouri to Donald T. Sr. and Maude (Hilt) Emmitt.

He had lived in the Seminole area from the mid 1930’s until the early 1940’s.

Emmitt was employed as a truck driver for Becker Truck Lines until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of the Caney Masonic Lodge #324 AF&AM.

He was married to Linda J. Raney on Feb. 15, 1943 in Bentonville, Ark. She survives him of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Fred Emmitt Sr. and his wife, Pearl, of Seminole; one daughter, Donna Sue Emmitt, Bartlesville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Donald Arthur and Debbie Emmitt, Fresno, Calif., Freddie Don Jr. and Sharon Emmitt, Seminole, Leah Dawn Jones, Donald Turner III and Kristy Emmitt, Seminole, Kimberly and Ray Inman, and Kelly Crockett, all of Copan; and 10 great-grandchildren, Timothy Emmitt, Dusty Emmitt and Blake Emmitt, all of Seminole, Brittany Jones and Bo Jones, both of Hartshorne, Cory Don Emmitt, Jordan Inman, Camden Inman, Courtney Leach and Randy Webster.

Lillie Enns

Graveside services for Seminole resident Lillie Enns, 88, will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla. at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Pastor George Nickle will officiate under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Enns died on Friday Aug. 27, 1999 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was born in Wewoka on Feb. 19, 1911 to Joseph Albert Danielson and Katherine (McKeowen) Danielson.

Enns married Alvin Schneider.

She then married John Enns.

Both preceded her in death.

Enns moved to Bakersfield, Calif. and then moved to Seminole in 1994.

She was a retired beauty operator and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Seminole.

Enns is also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two daughters Marlene Blevins Cimarron, N.M. and Norma Jean Rasco of Englewood, Colo. one brother Oscar Danielson, Wewoka; four sisters Betty Freeman, Shawnee, Marie Ehrlich, Seminole, Dean Freeman, Midwest City and Carrie Smith, Shawnee; and four grandchildren.

Dessie Everett

Funeral services for Dessie Everett, 79, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Idus England will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery.

Everett died Monday at her home in Seminole.

She was born May 10, 1919, in Atwood, to Oscar M. and Maggie (Slayten) Bishop. She lived in Seminole most of her life, where she was a homemaker.

For many years, Everett was a coordinator for the Senior Citizen’s Center on Fourth Street.

She married E.S. "Red" Everett on March 9, 1942; he died on Oct. 30, 1972.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, A.O. Bishop; one sister, Foy Paasch; a grandson, Mike Everett; and a granddaughter, Cheryl Everett Snyder.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, S.G. and Maxine Everett, Seminole, Ed and Sheila Everett, Germantown, Tenn., and Jim and Faye Everett, Moore; two brothers, Lee Bishop, Pason, Ariz., and Mel Bishop, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Kitty Kingsley, San Diego, Calif., and Bessie Brenner, Russell, Kans.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Park and Seminole Church of Christ Building Fund and the American Cancer Society.

Billie Fairbanks

Funeral services for life long Wewoka resident Billie Dean Fairbanks, 69, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Wewoka with Johnie Hinton and Rowdy Kincade officiating the services.

Interment will follow at Oakwood cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Fairbanks died Monday Nov. 22, 1999.

She was born on April 19, 1930 in Wewoka to Hayes and Goldie "Lawson" Streater.

Fairbanks was raised in Wewoka and attended Sams School before entering Wewoka High School.

She worked for the Seminole County Clerk’s office until retirement in 1984.

Fairbanks married Clyde Fairbanks on Nov. 1, 1946 in Wewoka who survives her of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Fairbanks is also survived by three sons, Terry Fairbanks, Earlsboro, Tommy Fairbanks, Idabel, Ricky Fairbanks, Dallas; one daughter, Beverly Johnson, Dallas; one sister, Doris Hager, Pottsboro, Texas; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are listed as Art Garner, Bryan Cain, Raymond Cain, Dewey Muirhead, Charles Sisco and Ray Stafford.

Honorary bearers are Joe Craig and Clifton Taylor.

Kenneth Farris

Funeral services for Konawa native Kenneth Donald Farris, 63, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel, Tecumseh.

Rev. Donald P. Homady of Liberty Church of God in Oklahoma City will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Noble.

Farris died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 in Noble

He was born Feb. 15, 1936 to Konawa to Lonzo and Lucille (Richards) Farris.

A veteran, Farris served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1962.

He then went to work for Ramirez Enterprise as plant manager until 1974, when he joined the Air National Guard. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1992.

Farris then worked at Tinker Air Force Base until 1995, and from 1996-97 he was employed by Industrial Specialties Inc., working in Government sales.

Farris was a 32 degree Master Mason, and was a member of the Macomb Lodge, #310.

He married Alice Garretson on Jan. 13, 1957 in Tribbey. She survives him of the home.

Farris was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Wayne Farris.

Other survivors include two sons, DeWayne Farris, Noble and Jerry Farris, Lexington; one daughter, Deana South, Noble; two sisters, Margaret Kesler, Shawnee and Louise Farris, Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Billy Farris, Mustang; and seven grandchildren.

Mary Farris

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Mary Lucille Farris, 84, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Father Mathew Brown, O.S.B., will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Rosary is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Pickard Funeral Home.

Farris died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999 in Norman.

She was born March 26, 1915 in Konawa to Stella and Ernest Richards.

A homemaker, Farris was employed at a local drug store.

She married William Lonzo Farris in April of 1933.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Farris, Noble, and Billy Farris, Mustang; two daughters, Margaret Kesler, Shawnee and Louise Farris, Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Thelma Ingram, Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are listed as Jerry Farris, DeWayne Farris, David Kesler, Randy Clutter, Tony Farris, Brent Farris, Darren Isaacs and Ty Allen.
