Edwin ‘Ed’ Harbeston

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Edwin H. "Ed" Harbeston, 85, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dr. Kelvin Moseley will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Harbeston died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999 at Shawnee Medical Center.

He was born May 25, 1914 in West Plains, Mo., to Rice and Julia (Adams) Harbeston.

A contract plumber by trade, Harbeston was a member of the First Baptist Church, was a deacon at Ideal Street Baptist and First Baptist.

He loved his land and cattle.

Harbeston was married to Marie (Horn) Harbeston on Nov. 23, 1932 in Sapulpa. She survives him of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Harbeston, Wewoka; one brother, Don Harbeston, Cordell; one sister, Maxine Lett, Goodman, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Mary Johnson, Yukon; two granddaughters and their husbands, Tamra and Mitchell Hennen, and Amy and Kenneth Fent; and four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Mark Hennen and Angel and Caleb Fent.

Casket bearers include Van Rose, Ray Spoonemore, Bryce Hill, Don Raney, Mutt Neal and Frank Aylor.

Honorary bearers are listed as Norman Carpenter and John Bartosh.

Bert Hardin

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Bert Walter Hardin, 83, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. David Karges will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Hardin died Monday, June 14, 1999 at his home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Keifer to Edward and Bertie Eula (McCullen) Hardin.

A veteran, Hardin served in the US Army during World War II.

He was co-owner of Curry-Hardin Furniture store for over 50 years.

Hardin was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the American Legion for 52 years.

He received his 50-year pin from the Masonic Lodge in March, and was an Eagle Scout.

Hardin married Margaret Harris on Aug. 12, 1983 at the Methodist Church in Seminole. She survives him of the home.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his four children, Helen Hardin; and his second wife, Zelma Hardin.

Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Suzanne Hardin, Seminole, Dr. Walter Hardin, Aloha, Ore., and Joe and Nancy Hardin, Seminole; one daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Frank Dunlap, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five stepsons, Don Northcott and Richard Northcott, both of Seminole, Ed Northcott, Mead, Tom Northcott, Oklahoma City, and Bob Northrip, Seminole; three stepdaughters, Sybil Turner, Mead, Judy Oates an Janie Owens, both of LaPorte, Texas.

He is also survived by two sisters, Pearl Curry, Seminole, and Verba Krasowski, Shawnee; six grandchildren, Rusty, Lindsay, Jared, Carissa, Malia and Alyssa; and 11 step-grandchildren.

Casket bearers are listed as Jim Roche, John Coffman, Dennis Smith, Bob Webster, Bob Northrip and Ray Guthrie.

Honorary bearers include Bill Guyman, Foy Dacus, Phillip Parks, Loyd Neese and Masons.

Lucille Hardin

Funeral services for Lucille (Beaver) Hardin, 91, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel, Wewoka.

Brother Reginald O. Foster and Brother Michael Stanberry will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Lucille died Friday, June 11, 1999 at the Seminole Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 1, 1907 in Ashdown, Ark. to Fannie (Watts) Lee and Eli Beaver.

She moved to Wewoka at a very young age. She attended school at Wisner Chapter and Muskogee.

Lucille was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1966 in Washington, D.C. Since then, she kept her eyes on the prize and looked forward to everlasting life in a paradise here on earth.

Lucille is preceded in death by her father and mother; three children, William L., Fannie and Oliver Hardin; three brothers, Roger Bruner, Tracy and Acie Beaver; one sister, Ruby (Beaver) Parker; one granddaughter, Devona-Dee Dee (Branch) McGee; one grandson, William L. Hardin Jr., and one great-granddaughter, Annika Makayla Osborne.

Survivors include three sons, Carl C. Hardin, Oklahoma City, June Bell Hardin, Washington D.C., and Charles Cleo Rogers and his wife, Sylvia, Wewoka; three daughters, Beatrice M. Osborne and her husband, Marvin, Betty Jean Dorsett, and Lucile Branch, all of Wewoka; grandchildren, Ronald Gene Hardin, Washington D.C., Marvin Lawrence Hardin, Lawton, Sharon Mayberry, Rowlett, Texas, Chris Hardin, Houston, Texas, Jackie Shoemaker, Dallas, Shelby Hardin, Lawton, Shelia Renaé Osborne, Dallas, Marvin Osborne Jr., Chattanooga, Tenn., Bruce Osborne, Wewoka, Clint Osborne, Seattle, Wash., Beatrice L. Foster and Reginald Foster, both of Wewoka, Dr. Tschantré E. Dorsett, Oklahoma City, Greg Hardin and Carl Hardin, both of Shawnee, Ronald Hardin, Washington D.C., Angie Hardin, Dallas, Julian Branch, Fort Hood, Texas, Celeste Rogers, Oklahoma City and Charles Rogers Jr., Wewoka.

Other survivors include one cousin, George Dancer, Wewoka; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruby Hardin

Funeral services for Seminole resident Ruby (Briggs) Hardin, 94, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee.

Rev. John Williams will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Harden died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 3, 1905 in Hobart, I.T. to Ernest Daniel and Minie (Johnson) Briggs.

Hardin came with her family to Pottawatomie County in a covered wagon. After her marriage to B.L. "Les" Hardin, they farmed at Adel Community near Wanette, then moved to Ada to continue farming until they retired in 1975 and moved to Shawnee.

A homemaker, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee.

She married B.L. "Les" Hardin on Aug. 7, 1924 in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Hardin was also preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and one grandson.

Survivors include one son, Jim Hardin, Seminole; two daughters, Billie Jean Dulaney, Wynnewood, Reta Newman, Seminole, and Louise Nokes, Roswell, N.M.; one brother, D.A. Briggs, Cushing; three sisters, Ella Hobbs, Bertie Lee Ward, and Nadine Waller, all of Palestine, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Vivian Hargis

Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident Vivian (Arthur) Quinalty Hargis, 80, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Hargis died Saturday, June 19, 1999 at Manorcare Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 13, 1918 in Asher to William L. and Velma Mae (Bowen) Arthur.

Hargis was employed at Pioneer Nursing Home for 10 years, retiring in 1980.

She was married to the father of her children, Daniel Quinalty; he preceded her in death in 1992.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Bobby Quinalty in 1969; one brother, Amos Arthur, in 1997; and one daughter, Vivian Darlene Quinalty, in 1943.

Survivors include one son, Frank Quinalty, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Betty Colemen, Oklahoma City, and Judy Bussey, Seminole; two sisters, Eula Moore, Lindsay, and Bonnie Cagle, Seminole, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers are listed as Jason Bussey, Ricky Myers, Terry Quinalty, David Brian Quinalty and David Bussey.

Honorary bearer is Bryan King.

A.B. Harjo

LANDER, WYO. - Funeral services for Maud native A.B. Harjo, 79, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Pickard Funeral Chapel, Konawa.

Rev. Lizzie Jones will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at the Harjo family cemetery.

Harjo died Tuesday, July 20, 1999 at Ft. Collins, Colo.

He was born Dec. 2, 1919 in Maud to Ida B. and Tima Harjo.

A veteran, he served in the US Air Force, and was employed at Tinker Field.

Harjo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Trena Kathaleen Watkins, Lander, Wyo., and Charlene Irani, Aurora, Colo.; two son, Matthew Harjo, Fayetteville, Ark., and Carl Harjo, Tahlequah; two brothers, Floyd Harjo, Wewoka, and John Crayton Harjo, Hemet, Calif.; two sisters, Antonette Larney, Wolf and Flora Woods, Ada; and five grandchildren.

Bertie Harjo

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Bertie Irene Ramsey Harjo, 82, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.

Harjo died Monday, March 1, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.

She was born March 22, 1916 in Centerville, Ark., to Milton and Myrtle (Taylor) Ridings, and was reared in Arkansas.

Harjo came to Spaulding in 1959 and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. She was a resident of Elmwood Manor Nursing Home, Wewoka, at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Randall Alvin Ramsey in 1964; and another husband, Amos Harjo; four children; two infants, Johnny Ramsey, in 1991, and Mary Southard in 1979; and one brother, Vernon Ridings.

Survivors include her children, Elsie Burrel, Springdale, Ark., Raymond Ramsey, Wewoka, Ray Ramsey Griffithsville, Ark., Nelson Ramsey, Noble, George Ramsey, Norman, Morris Ramsey, Washington D.C., Ann Perkins, Shawnee, Barbara Morrison, Vian, Bill Ramsey, Wewoka, Harold Ramsey, Kirtsville, Mo., and Jim Ramsey, Shawnee.

Other survivors are her sisters, Opal Osborn, Sasakwa, Marie Ridings, Shreveport, La., and Ida Mae Cherry and Jackey Kendall, both of Searcy, Ark.; three brothers, Oscar, Frank and David Ridings, all of Searcy, Ark.; 33 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Harjo’s grandchildren are listed as pallbearers.
