Funeral services for Earlsboro resident Velma Napoleon, 82, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church.
Rev. Michael B. Williams will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Napoleon died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at Shawnee Regional Hospital.
She was born Aug. 25, 1916 in Mississippi.
A homemaker, Napoleon was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
She married Fred Napoleon in 1932 in Boley. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1992.
Also preceding her was one son, Fred Napoleon Jr.
Survivors include six sons, Spencer Napoleon, Madera, Calif., John Napoleon and Alvin Napoleon, both of Kansas City, Kan., Bobby Napoleon, Shawnee, Theodore Napoleon, San Jose, Calif., and Willie Napoleon, Holdenville; and daughters, Letha Rivers, Tecumseh, Helen Hall, Oklahoma City, Eudell Napoleon, Shawnee, Hazel Keesee, New Lima, Wyomia Reeves, Shawnee, Ernestine Gordon, Wewoka and Debra Teal, Shawnee.
Other survivors include two brothers, Joe Tallie, Shawnee, and Lee Tallie, Iowa; one sister, Mae Norman, Earlsboro; 47 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers are listed as grandsons, Antonio Napoleon, Leonard Rivers, Willie Napoleon Jr., Antwan Teal, Leon Mitchell and Matthew Mitchell.
Her sons will serve as honorary bearers.

Earl Neel
Funeral services for Seminole resident Earl Wayne Neel, 62, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Twin Oak Baptist Church.
Rev. Bill Servanti will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Neel died this morning at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1937 in Seminole to Wayne W. and Pearl Violet (Stutz) Neel.
He graduated from Seminole High School in 1955.
For 25 years, Neel worked as an office clerk for the Rock Island Railroad, then worked eight years for Katy railroad, and seven years for Union Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1996.
Neel was also a rancher.
He was a member of the Twin Oak Baptist Church in Seminole, where he served as a deacon and the men’s Sunday School teacher for many years.
Neel married Julia Margaret Peschl on Oct. 26, 1958 in Oklahoma City. She survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and LaDonna Neel, Seminole; two daughters, Winona "Diane" Neel and Theresa Ann Neel, both of the home; one sister, Juanita Jean Cumpton, Seminole; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Kirsten Neel, Seminole.
Casket bearers are listed as John Lovelady, Tommie Rammage, Junior Evans, Doc Duvall, Gary Seale and Bill Register.
Honorary bearers include Leon Williams, Joe Thomas, Audie Holbert, Frank Hester, Al Curb, Sonny Simmons, Henry Baxter and the men of Twin Oak Baptist Church.

Dwight Neeley
Funeral services for Seminole native Dwight Sterling Neeley, 59, were held Monday at North Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary, Oklahoma City.
Neeley died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at his Oklahoma City home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1940 to Sterling and Bernice Neeley. He had lived in the Oklahoma City area for the past 40 years.
Neeley was a transportation specialist, and served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
He was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors includes his mother; one son, Wise Sterling Neeley; one daughter, Michelle Smith; one sister, Maurine Williams.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.

Florence Nelson
Funeral services for Florence Sophia (Moore) Nelson, 97, Lawton, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at First Baptist Church, Seminole.
Dr. Kelvin Moseley will officiate. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. James Watson officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Nelson died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999 after a sudden illness while living in a retirement center in Lawton.
She was born Jan. 15, 1902 in Sanger, Texas to Seth Spencer and Janetta K. (Mathews) Moore.
Her family moved to Tishomingo in 1904, where she was raised and graduated from high school with a two-year teaching certificate in 1921.
Nelson received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1942, and did post-graduate work at the University of Southern California.
She enjoyed traveling and studied in many countries, including the Holy Land, all the large cities of Europe, the Scandinavian countries, China, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
Nelson taught in various towns and communities in the state including Milburn, Carr City and Miami.
She retired in 1966 after 45 years of teaching, her last 23 years at Seminole High School.
Many students passed through her tenth grade English class; she remembered most of them and most have fond memories of her.
In January 1927, she married Leonard F. "Lynn" Nelson in Atoka; he preceded her in death in 1979.
Nelson had an active and full life. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Seminole; was involved in the Seminole County Retired Teachers Association, General Federated Women’s Clubs and past member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Eastern Star.
She enjoyed many trips ;with her church and various civic groups.
She moved to Lawton in 1996 to be near her niece, Jerry Sue (Marshall) Sellars and her husband, Larry.
Other survivors include three nieces, Janet (Marshall) Stathos and her husband, Sam, Oklahoma City, Evelyn Moore, Norman and Mary Ann Rowe, Tulsa; three nephews, Jack Moore, San Diego, Calif., Charles Ray, Seminole and Billy Ray, Houston, Texas; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

James Newby
Graveside services for former Seminole resident James Newby, 64, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary, Oklahoma City.
Newby died Tuesday, March 30, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 16, 1934 in St. Louis, Oklahoma to C.J. and Willie Lea (Green) Newby.
He worked as a derrick man in the oil fields.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Newby, Bonham, Texas; one half-brother, Bob Hutchinson, Lake Charles, La.; and one half-sister, Anita McDonald, Tulsa.

Elizabeth Newell
Funeral services for Elizabeth E. Newell, 92, Shawnee resident who attends church in Seminole, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill0Owens Funeral Home Chapel.
Ministers Truman Teel, Gary Jones, and Ray Newell will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Newell died Sunday, April 11, 1999 at a Shawnee Nursing Home.
She was born March 8, 1907 in Shawnee, I.T. to Daniel Moore and Flora Anna Allison Sealock.
Newell attended Shawnee schools and was a lifelong resident of Shawnee.
A homemaker, she attended the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Seminole.
She married Joe Newell on Jan. 17, 1927 in Shawnee. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, three sisters and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Newell, Shawnee, Harold Newell, Wheatridge, Colo.; two daughters, Dolores Denson, Earlsboro and Anne Haskew, Lyons, Colo.; one sister, Lillian Norman; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Hazel Nichols
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Hazel Nichols, 96, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Nichols died Monday, July 5, 1999 at Seminole Estates Care Center.
She was born April 11, 1903 in Cherokee, Ark. to Daniel Jackson and Sarah Elizabeth (Rollar) Foster.
A homemaker, Nichols moved to Seminole 74 years ago from Locust Grove.
She married Robert Earl Nichols on May 30, 1925 in Wagoner. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1976.
Nichols was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Her son, Gene Nichols of Seminole, survives her.
