Carl Rose

NASHVILLE, TENN. - Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Carl Arland Rose, 31, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Madison Funeral Home in Tennessee.

Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Rose died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at Nashville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wewoka, and graduated from New Lima High School in 1986.

Later, Rose attended classes at Seminole Junior College and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Rose,; one sister, Scarla Pohlemann; and one grandmother, Ruby Brewer.

Houston Ross

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County Houston Ross, 77, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Jackson Deer and Rev. Paul B. Wolf will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Ross Family Cemetery north of Seminole, under the directions of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ross died Friday, July 9, 1999 at University Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born in Seminole County, near Sylvian on May 23, 1922 to Chilley Ross and Anochee (Tiger) Ross. He attended Riverside Grade School near Little and the Oklahoma Presbyterian Church School in Durant..

On Sept. 15, 1979, Ross married Jennie Dirt of Earlsboro in Seminole; she survives him of the home.

He served as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, where he was a medic.

Ross retired from the city of Shawnee in 1985 where he worked for the Street and Sanitation Departments.

He was a member of the Native American Ceremonial Camp Grounds, Gar Creek Ceremonial Ground, Ciyvha Band Chairman, former council member of the Seminole Nation, member of the Native American Senior Citizens.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nora Fife Tiger.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sherri Ross and Patti Ross, both of Norman, and one stepson, Ted Harjo, Shawnee; one sister, Elsie Spencer, Seminole, and one brother, James Fife, Seminole.

Pallbearers will include the members of the Gar Creek Ceremonial Grounds.

Honorary pallbearers inc lude Jack Wolf, B. J. Jackson, Andrew Alexander and Cody Mack.

Nannie Roundtree

Funeral services for Cromwell resident Nannie Roundtree, 93, were held today at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cromwell.

Rev. Farron Oliver officiated at the service. Interment followed at Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Rountree died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999 at Colonial Park Nursing Home.

She was born June 24, 1905 in Muldrow to Velda Anthony Reed and Minnie E. Dodson.

A homemaker, Roundtree was a member of the Cromwell Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She moved to Cromwell in 1949 and had been a resident of Colonial Park Nursing Home for the past five years.

She married William Finis Roundtree on May 2, 1927. He preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Harold Roundtree; two daughters, Josephine Stroud and Loretta Whisnant; three stepsons, four stepdaughters, five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Troy Roundtree, Cromwell, and Kenneth Roundtree, Blackwell; one daughter, Dollie Stanfield, Franklin, Texas; two brothers, Jack Reed, Carson, Calif., and Anthony Reed, Homeland, Calif.; one sister, Tressie Leggett, Citrus Heights, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The grandsons served as pallbearers.

Fannie Russell

Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Fannie Leanore Russell, 101, are scheduled for Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery.

Rev. Delmar Hume will officiate at the service. Interment is under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Russell died Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at Oklahoma City.

She was born May 8, 1898 in Pontotoc County near Ada to Jerry and Josephine (Stone) Standridge.

A longtime Wewoka resident, she recently moved to Oklahoma City.

Russell lost her father at age 7, and her mother at age 11, then was raised by various relatives.

She was married to Lynn Russell Sr.; he preceded her in death.

Russell was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Josh and Craig Standridge; one son, Durwood Russell; and one daughter, Kathleen Gwaltney.

Survivors include her children, T.J. Russell, Washington, Irene Lowe, California and Lynn Russell Jr., Pocassett.

Audra (Sampson) Ruthletuner, 25, and
Jacqualine (Sampson) Sanchez

Audra (Sampson) Ruthletuner, 25, and Jacqualine (Sampson) Sanchez, 32, daughters of Seminole resident Albert Sampson, were killed in an auto accident Sunday while traveling in Arkansas.

According a police report, the two sisters were travelling eastbound in a pickup on US 70 in Sevier County, Ark., when their vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound station wagon driven by Terry Jackson, 47, of Pampa, Texas.

A second passenger in the pickup, Lucas, Rodriguez, 31, of De Queen, Ark., was taken to a local hospital along with the driver of the station wagon.

Two passengers in the station wagon, Patricia Jackson, 49, and Jennifer Jackson, 12, both of Pampa, Texas, died at the scene.

Funeral services for the sisters was held today at Brumley-McCurtain Chapel in Broken Bow.

Rev. Gene Wilson officiated at the service. Burial followed at Kulli Chito Cemetery in Bethel.

Jacqualine Devonne Sampson Sanchez, 25, of Idabel, was born Oct. 9, 1973.

A homemaker, Sanchez was a member of Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church in Bethel, where she was a lifelong resident.

She married Salvador Sanchez on May 15, 1996 in DeQueen, Ark. He survives her of the home, along with two daughters, Mercedes Shalyn Sampson and Maria Angelica Sanchez.

Audra Maree Sampson Ruthletuner, 32 of Idabel was born Jan. 30, 1967, and was a lifelong resident of Bethel.

She was married to Larry Ruthletuner; he survives her of the home with two sons, Shane Harris and Lejay Harris; and one daughter, Jasmine Harris, of Wright City.

Other survivors include their mother and stepfather, Nettie and Jimmy Webb, Lockesburg, Ark.; their father, Albert Lee Sampson, Seminole; two brothers, Robert Leon Sampson, Idabel, and George Richard Pell, Wilburton; and two sisters, Rebecca Ann Tollett, Wright City and Esterlyn Marsuise Pell, Lockesburg, Ark.

Ellen Sanders

Word was just received of the death of former longtime Wewoka resident Ellen Elizabeth Sanders, 79.

Sanders died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 at her home in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

Graveside services have been set for 1 p.m. Oct. 9, 1999 at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka.

Sanders will be buried beside her husband, Melvin, on the anniversary of his death.

She was born Nov. 21, 1919 in Apache to David Savage and Mae Hackett.

A graduate of Central High in Oklahoma City, Sanders attended OSU before her marriage to Melvin Sanders in 1945.

She was a housewife, and of the First Christian Church faith.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Alexander, Overland Park, Kan.; three daughters, Malinda Patterson, Ada, Cynthia Penny, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Patricia Hartmann, Moses Lake, Wash.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

George Sanders

OKLAHOMA CITY - Funeral services for Seminole County native George James Sanders, 52, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Pastor Eddie Dye will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Sanders died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 in Oklahoma City.

She was born Oct. 5, 1947 near Seminole to Marvin and Juanita (Battiest) Sanders.

He lived in the Oklahoma City area many years and was employed by Larry Spencer Chevrolet as a service department dispatcher.

Sanders served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, of the home; one son, George James Sanders Jr., also of the home; one daughter, Shelley Denise Sanders, Oklahoma City; one brother, Fred, Oklahoma City; and his mother, of Bowlegs.

The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
