Charles Allen Seaman was born Feb. 12, 1908 in Green City, Mo. to John A. Seaman and Bertha A. (Martin) Seaman.
He passed away Nov. 9, 1999 in Norman.
Charles attended school in Missouri and moved with his parents and family to Seminole in the early 1930’s. He was associated with Deep Rock Oil for several years.
Is was in Seminole that he met Hazel Higdon, his future bride. They were married on Nov. 24, 1938. They shared 60 years together.
On the day before their 4th wedding anniversary, Charles left for Ft. Sill to serve in the Army. From there he went to Atlantic City for basic training.
He then went on to Radar and Electronic schools in Palm Beach, Fla., Athens, Ga., and New Orleans, La.
He was then sent to Ipswich, England where he served two years (until the end of World War II).
When the war was over, he returned to Seminole, where he became part-owner in a restaurant for three years, He then decided he would like to continue using the training he had received in the Army.
He applied for work at Tinker Air Force Base and was hired the following week.
He worked in electronics at Tinker for 32 years.
Charles and Hazel made their home in Seminole until Oct. 15, 1998, when they moved to Rivermont Retirement Community in Norman. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Rivermont on Nov. 24, 1998.
Charles was a wonderful husband to Hazel and a loving and caring father to their three children, Gary, Don and Debbie. He was also the devoted grandfather of four grandsons, Brandon, Christopher, Nicholas and Aaron.
His hobbies include being an avid gardener, talented mechanic and electrician, and caretaker of all four-legged creature (especially those injured and weak).
Charles was a true renaissance man, capable of all types of projects and activities, excelling in most everything he attempted.
An extraordinary man, Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sisters, Rita Seaman and Helen Hook, and one brother, Paul Seaman.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; son, Gary L. Seaman and his wife, Carolyn, of Dallas, Texas; son C. Don Seaman and his wife, Renata, Dallas; daughter Debra Seaman Langdon and her husband, Carl, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons Christopher and Nicholas Seaman, Dallas, Brandon and Aaron Seaman, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister Olive Atchison, Seminole; sister-in-law, Thelma Spiller and her husband J.O. of Norman; sister-in-law Edna Higdon, Hutchinson, Kan.; and a host of wonderful nephews and nieces.
Charles loved all of you so much.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. David Karges will officiate.
Mary Seaton
Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Mary C. (Springfield) Seaton, 79, were held today at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.
Dr. Ray Sikes of First Baptist Church in Choctaw officiated at the service. Interment followed at Tecumseh Cemetery.
Seaton died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999 in Midwest City.
She was born Dec. 25, 1919 in Maud to Ernest Eldon and Serena Emmaline (Tiffin) Sparkman.
A longtime resident of Pottawatomie County, she attended schools at Harjo and Maud.
A homemaker, Seaton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge.
She married Jess W. Springfield on Dec. 23, 1937 in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1977.
She then married Vernon H. Seaton on Feb. 15, 1984 in Oklahoma City. He survives her of the home.
Seaton was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Glenn Sparkman.
Other survivors include three sons, Ron Springfield, Larry Springfield, both of Midwest City, and Walt Springfield, Choctaw; two stepdaughters, Judy White, Tecumseh, and Nancy Seaton, Yukon; two stepsons, John Seaton, San Angelo, Texas and Mark Seaton, Tecumseh; three sisters, Arietta Cook, Amarillo, Texas, Francis Parvin, Friona, Texas, Maude Kemp, Pottsboro, Texas; one brother, Eldon Sparkman, Abernathy Texas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Tom Sevier
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Tom Sevier, 96, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stout Chapel.
Tom Billie Sr. will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Sevier died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home.
He was born June 24, 1902 in Hitchite, Indian Territory to Louis and Amanda (Thompson) Sevier.
He attended Nuyaka Boarding school, and moved to Wewoka in the late 1920’s.
He retired from work as a welder, rancher and pipeline worker.
Sevier was a member of Grave Creek Baptist Church, Hitchitee.
He married Alice Factor Oct. 25, 1932; she preceded him in death on July 9, 1974.
Sevier was also preceded in death by one son, John Sevier in February, 1987.
Survivors are his daughter, Sheila Hooper, Seminole; one granddaughter and one stepgrandson.
Pallbearers are listed as Louie Dean Sevier, Tommy Sevier, Rick Hood, Mickey Davis, Herb Johnson and Hermin Foster.
Honorary pallbearers include Donnie Foye and Mike Hood.
James Sexton
Graveside services for Sasakwa native James J. Sexton, 73, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Cemetery, west of Tecumseh.
Rev. Scott Bates will officiate at the service. Interment is under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.
Sexton died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at his Tecumseh home.
He was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Sasakwa to Alvin and Onnie (Hensley) Sexton.
A veteran, he served in the US Marine Corps from December 1943 until April 1946 during World War II.
Sexton was also in the Air Force Reserves.
He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked as a sheet metal mechanic.
Sexton was a member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church, and had lived in Tecumseh for the past 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gary Sexton.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Sexton, and Donna Santin, both of Midwest City; one son, James Sexton, Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Nadine Lawyer, Seminole; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Daniel Sharp
Funeral services for lifelong Wewoka resident Daniel Raymond Sharp, 55, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at House of Prayer.
Rev. Johnny Chesser will officiate at the service. Burial will follow under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Sharp died Monday, April 26, 1999 at Prague Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1944 in Wewoka to Dewey Carl and Maudie (Molleur) Sharp Jackson.
A veteran, Sharp served in the National Guard, and was a carpenter by trade.
Sharp was affiliated with the House of Prayer in Wewoka.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, David Sharp and Dewey Sharp Jr.
Survivors include his mother, of Seminole; two sons, Raymond Sharp and Bobby Sharp, both of Wewoka; three daughters, Kathy Dodson, Wewoka, Patty Goad, Shawnee, and Wanda Carder, Tahlequah; the mother of his children, Helen Ruth Brown, Cromwell; four brothers, George Sharp, Wewoka, Kenneth Sharp, Chickasha, Carl Sharp, Yukon and Joseph Sharp, Jones; four sisters, Bonita Burkhart and Geneva Coy, both of Los Alamos, N.M., Juanita Hume, Espanola, N.M., and LeVita Pearson, Little Rock, Ark; and 11 grandchildren.
Casket bearers are listed as Bill Chesser, Francis Underwood, Richard Underwood, Kevin Merriman, Richie Morphis, Eddie Dodson, Robert Morphis, and Johnny Morphis.
Edith Shaw
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Edith M. Shaw, 78, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Shaw died Thursday, June 3, 1999 at her Seminole home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920 in Paoli to Curtis Edward and Nelli Ward Loyd.
A bookkeeper, Shaw was employed with Foss Drug in Golden, Colo., and was a member of Amazing Grace Church in Seminole.
She was married to John W. Shaw on Oct. 31, 1949 in Ada. He survives her of the home.
Shaw was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Other survivors include one son, Rick Adams, Bedford, Ind.; one daughter, Sandra "Tootie" Harber, Seminole; two sisters, Cottie Magruder, Seminole, and Vera "Bebe" Coombs, Bella Vista, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
John Shaw

Shaw died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1923 in Morilton, Ark. to Thomas Lavi and Clara Priscilla (Abbott) Shaw.
A veteran, Shaw served in the US Coast Guard during World War II.
He worked as a plumber at the Colorado School of Mines, and was a member of the Assembly of God.
He married Edith M. Loyd on Oct. 31, 1949 in Ada; she preceded him in death on June 3, 1999.
Shaw was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one son, Rick Adams, Bedford, Ind.; one daughter, Sandra "Tootie" Harber, Seminole; three brothers, James Shaw, Salanas, Calif., Tommy Shaw, Louisville, Ken., and Shirley Shaw, Madill; one sister, Wanda M. Loenneke, Mamphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
