LINDSAY - Funeral services for former Varnum student Earl "Red" Simonton, 73, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lindsay.
Rev. Bill Love and Rev. Gene Sanders will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home.
Simonton died Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at his home in Lindsay.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925 in Papoose in northern Hughes County to Mary Elizabeth (Edmundson) and Earl LeClair Simonton Sr.
A veteran, Simonton served in the US Navy as Gunner’s Mate Third Class from 1943 to 1946. He received an American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Medal; and the WWII Victory Medal.
He moved to Lindsay from Mosherville, Mich., and began his career as fishing tool operator with Atlas Fishing Tool Company.
In 1966, Simonton joined B&B Tool Company, working more than 25 years and retired from Weatherford, Inc. in 1995.
He married Barbara Ann Boyd in Rawlins, Wyo. on March 10, 1948. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Danny Simonton, Bobby Simonton, Lindsay, and Steve Simonton, Tulsa; brothers and sisters, Betty Brady, Richard Simonton, Sally Rich, Marvin Simonton, Paul Simonton and Robert Simonton; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers are listed as Mickey Newby, Bob Poteet, Terry Yandell, Gene Jones, Clifford Kelly, Odie McManus.
Honorary bearers include Chub Lindey, James Harris, Charlie Mote, Foch Davis, Mike Harrison, Jim Standridge, and Mike Crawford.
Lisa Sipes
Dylan Sipes
Funeral services for Lisa Rene Sipes, 27, and her son, Dylan Gage Sipes, 20 months, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Rev. Dan Anderson will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Lisa and Dylan both died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 in an auto accident four and one-half miles south of Wewoka.
Lisa was born Jan. 28, 1972 in Wewoka to Douglas Sipes Sr. and Betty (Hines) Sipes.
A lifelong resident, she attended Wewoka schools as a child.
Sipes was employed with United Design for five years, beginning in 1994, and was currently employed with Wrangler.
Her son, Dylan, who also died in the accident, was born Jan. 18, 1998 in Ada.
Her daughter, Taryn Sipes, survives her of the home.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Douglas Sipes; maternal grandparents, Faye and Herman Smith, and one paternal uncle, Calvin Eugene Sipes.
Other survivors include her father, Douglas Sr. and his wife, Linda Sipes, of Wewoka; her mother, Betty Sipes, Sasakwa; seven brothers and sisters and their spouses, Teddy and Yvette Sipes, Amos Sipes, Jamie Sipes, Jennifer Sipes, Jessica Sipes and Austin Sipes, all of Wewoka; paternal grandmother, Mammie Gene Mathis, Holdenville.
Also surviving her are six maternal aunts, Pat Whelan, Seminole, Vicki Davis, Wewoka, Shonna Porter, Wewoka, Kay Smart, Burns Flat, Angie Garrison, Texas and Sue Dingles, Wewoka; three maternal uncles, Grant Smith, Wewoka, Eugene Smith, Davis, and Dwight Smith, Wewoka; and one paternal uncle, Jimmy Ray Sipes, Holdenville.
Pallbearers are listed as George Porter, Clay Chaney, Tim Dicketts, Conley Clark, Simy White, Bee John Davis and Eric Hall.
Honorary pallbearers include Micheal Davis and Scotty Davis.
Billie Smith
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Billie Rae Smith, 72, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Rev. Allen Wood will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at her Seminole home.
She was born April 10, 1927 in Seminole to James Rae Snodgrass and Jackie (Grogg) Snodgrass Turner.
Smith was employed at Tinker Field until her retirement.
She moved to Seminole from Cushing over 28 years ago.
Smith was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather, C.O. Turner and one sister, Joyce Snodgrass.
Survivors are listed as her mother, of Seminole; two daughters, Darla Ga Bickell, and Robin L. Brown, both of Cushing; six grandchildren
Clifford Smith
Graveside services for Wewoka resident Clifford Dale Smith, 44, were held today at Fairview Cemetery in Holdenville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Smith died Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at his home in Holdenville.
He was born Sept. 26, 1954 in Oklahoma City to Johnnie Lee and Carol A. (King) Smith.
He attended Shawnee and Harrah Public Schools and owned Cliff’s Paint and Body in Oklahoma City and Seminole for many years.
Smith was a member of several Baptist Churches, most recently Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jonathan Edward Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Kolander, of the home; one son, Trevor Dale Smith, Shawnee; one daughter, Tara Dawn Smith, Shawnee; four brothers, Johnnie Lee Smith Jr., Oklahoma City, Dennis L. Smith, Seminole, Howard Ray Smith, Shawnee, and Earnest Eugene Smith, McAlester; two sisters, Christy Howerton, El Reno and Joy L. Smith, Bethel.
The family has suggested expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Shawnee.
Doris Smith
Seminole resident Doris Jean Smith, 77, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.
She was born March 28, 1922 in Kentucky to C.T. and Vera Collier.
Smith volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital.
She was married to L.D. Smith, who preceded her in death.
Smith was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Henry Seeley, Seminole; one daughter, Conni Streeter, Seminole; two brothers, Merle Collier, Huron, S.D., and Mainord Collier, Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Elmer Smith
PONCA CITY - Funeral services for Elmer Smith, 79, father of a Wewoka resident, were held today at First Baptist Church Chapel.
Rev. Hance Dilbeck, pastor, officiated at the service. Burial followed at the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Smith died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 8, 1920 in Okmulgee to Claude and Aurie (Hall) Smith.
He grew up in Ponca City and received his education in the Ponca City schools, and graduated from there.
A veteran, Smith served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, and was Honorably Discharged in 1945.
Following his discharge, he went to work for the Continental Oil Company in November 1945. He retired as a Research Technician with Research Services on Feb. 1, 1982.
Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Disciples Class, the American Legion Huff-Minor Post #14.
He married Wanda Rose Hogan in Blackwell. She preceded him in death May 5, 1992.
Smith was also preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Butler, Wewoka; one son, Kenneth Smith, Dallas, Texas; one brother, Gene Smith, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Lance Butler, Todd Smith, Stephen Smith, Eldon Baughman, Joe Hogan and Danny Simms.
Esther Smith
Funeral services for Esther Mae Smith, 74, mother of Seminole resident Patricia Cruce, were held this morning at First Assembly of God Church in Okemah.
Bro. Olen Edwards officiated at the service, with Rev. Steve Lowrance assisting. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.
Smith died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 at Creek Nation Hospital
She was born March 12, 1925 in Okfuskee County to William Anderson and Emma Lee (Thomas) Wells.
A homemaker, Smith was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
She lived in Okfuskee County her entire life, and was a resident of Pioneer Nursing Home.
She was married to Eugene "Red" Smith on Feb. 26, 1946 in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1993.
Smith was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Wayne Smith, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Smith and Charles Ray Smith, both of Okemah; four daughters, Shirley Guinn, Okemah, Wilma Lopez, Oklahoma City, Patricia Cruce, Seminole, and Marilyn Dickson, Okemah; two sisters, Josephine Bardin and Elouise Lundin, both of Tulsa; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Eva Smith
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Eva Lorene Smith, 89, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Smith died Saturday, March 6, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
She was born Feb. 5, 1910 in Pauls Valley to Mettie Lou (Montgomery) and Robert Franklin Pease.
Smith came to Seminole from the Tidmore area in 1915.
She was the former co-owner of Smith Pawn Shop in Seminole before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church and former longtime member of the BPW.
She was married to William McCarren Smith; he preceded her in death Aug. 3, 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Smith, Cortez, Colo., and Delbert Smith, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Dortha Howard, Seminole, and Berniece Henry, Oklahoma City; one sister, Pauline Moore, Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
