Graveside services for Konawa resident Ora Lee Stone, 81, were held today at Konawa Cemetery.
Rev. Bob Payne will officiate at the service. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
Stone died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 in Ada.
She was born Dec. 13, 1917 in Marietta to Martha Lillie and Stephen A. Brooks.
A homemaker, Stone had lived in the Konawa area since the late 1940’s.
She was married to Frank Stone in Konawa on April 22, 1910. He preceded her in death July 9, 1984.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn J. Baker, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ozie Stone Sr.
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Ozie Bob Stone Sr., 57, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Spring Church in Sasakwa.
Rev. Richard Pickup and Rev. Eddie Gooden will officiate at the service. Interment will follow Spring Church Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Stone died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999 in Asher.
He was born Dec. 4, 1941 in Ada to John William and Nora (Hensley) Stone. He was raised in Ada, and attended school in Byng.
Stone began working at Muir’s Quick Meal Steaks in March, 1966, and continued until October of 1998 due to illness.
He was baptized at Spring Church on April 6, 1969.
Stone married Lana Wood May 16, 1959 in Sulphur. She survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his father in February, 1981, and his mother in January of 1974.
Other survivors include his children, Mickey Stone, Bob Stone and Becky Stone, all of Wewoka; two brothers, Jerry Stone, Decater, Ark., and Henry Stone, Oklahoma City; two sisters, June Barnes, Henryetta, and Mary Cole, Asher, and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers are listed as Ed George, Joe Coon, Flanders Byford, Thomas Harjo Jr., Terry Olivo and Rick Looney.
Honorary bearers include Norman "Rooter" Greenwood, TJ Stone, Terry Stone, Robin Billey, Troy Stone, George Barnes, Michael McCurtain and Roy Stone.
J.D. Stotts Jr.
Funeral services for Seminole area resident J.D. Stotts Jr., 89, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Jim Waller will officiate at the service. Entombment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Stotts died Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at his home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1910 in Checotah to Maude (Marlon) and John Dolph Stotts Sr.
He was employed with Conoco for 40 years as a field supervisor before his retirement in 1974.
Stotts married Edith Austin on April 16, 1932 in Pauls Valley. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jack, and one sister.
Survivors include one brother, Amos Stotts, Sulphur; two grandchildren, Danny Stotts and Susie Randall, two great-grandchildren and the mother of his grandchildren, Barbara Sjoberg.
Donald Strayhorn
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Donald Strayhorn, 65, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Steve Cline will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Strayhorn died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center.
He was born April 27, 1934 in Okemah to Shufford "Doc" Rethel Strayhorn and Jewell R. (Cheatham) Strayhorn.
A veteran, he served in the United States Army and National Guard.
He graduated from Seminole High School in the 1950’s, and spent time restoring antique cars.
Strayhorn was employed as a mechanic until his retired in 1998, and also for the Fina station in Letha until the 1970’s.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1973.
Survivors include his mother, of the home; two sons, Ricky Strayhorn, Tecumseh and David Strayhorn, Seminole; one daughter, Donna Garrett, Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Loneta Streater
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Loneta Streater, 79, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Rev. Dan Anderson and Rev. Kellos Walker will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Streater died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Dec. 4, 1919 in Bowlegs to Lonnie and Easter (Collier) Northcott.
She married Edd "Bud" Streater on Dec. 13, 1941 at the First Baptist Church in Bowlegs. He survives her of the home.
Streater was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Easter Northcott; three brothers, John, Tuffy and Chok Northcott; and three sisters, Effie Patton, Bertha Williams, and Billie Jo Glen.
Other survivors include her children, Bobbie Slater, and Ben and Beverly Streater, all of Wewoka; three grandsons, Terry Streater, Eddie Streater and Darin Streater; and two great-grandsons, Eric Streater and Greg Streater, both of Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers are listed as Terry Streater, Eric Streater, Greg Streater, Wayne Phillips, James Harrod and Bob Newman.
Honorary bearers include Robert Butner, Warr Cunningham, Gerald Hill, Warren Tribble and Vic Watts.
Lavada Stripling
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Lavada Marie (Rie) Stripling, 45, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Weleetka High School Auditorium.
Milton Gleghorn will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at North Fork Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home, Weleetka.
Stripling died Sunday, May 2, 1999 at Oklahoma City.
She was born Sept. 2, 1953 in Clearview to Roy and Mary Ann (Johnson) Ballard.
She was reared in Clearview, where she attended grade school, then transferred to Weleetka High School, from which she graduated in 1971.
Stripling later attended Seminole Junior College, where she completed a program in Business Education.
She made her home in Seminole and Pottawatomie County, where she worked for Blue Bell and Neil Craig Insurance Agency.
At the time of her death, Stripling was employed with Pleasant Grove Elementary School in Pottowatomie County.
She was a member of the NEA, OEA, and was active in all Pleasant Grove School functions.
For many years Stripling was associated with the Church of Christ.
She was married to Jack Stripling in 1972; he survives her of the home.
Stripling was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Eddie Roy.
Other survivors include four children, Trilbya, Reneé, Delaney "Poodie" and Christopher "Bubba", all of the home; one stepson, Brett, of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Nero, Sapulpa and Marilyn Jackson, Morris.
Sherman Stroud
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Sherman S. Stroud, 86, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Rev. Billie Ray Olden of Spring Creek Baptist Church will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Lima Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Stroud died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at Wewoka Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1913 at Chimney Mountain in Seminole County, and lived his entire life in the county.
Stroud was preceded in death by his parent sand two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Mae Stroud, Nobletown; and two brothers, Joe Huston and Rayford Huston, both of California.
Vera Sullivan
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Vera Alta Sullivan, 94, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Rev. Freeman Whitlock will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Sullivan died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 in Seminole.
She was born March 21, 1905 in Durant to Lloyd Alford and Betha (Magness) Stevenson.
Sullivan owned and operated Sullivan Grocery and Market in Seminole in 1930, then was employed as an RN until her retirement in 1973.
She was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
She married Roy Sullivan on Oct. 8, 1923 in Allauwee. He preceded her in death.
Sullivan was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Jean Sullivan, Seminole; three grandchildren, Britt Willis, Oklahoma City, Jeanne Landon Myers, Sterling, Ark., and Rosemary Royce, Lexington, Idaho; five great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
