Funeral services for Seminole resident Georgia May Tanksleary, 81, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in Hugo.
Rev. Jerry Cooper will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home, Hugo.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Tanksleary died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999 in Seminole.
She was born Oct. 9, 1917 near Ethel, to Rev. George and Eula (Miller) Billings.
Tanksleary spent most of her younger life in the Kent Community.
After moving to Hugo in 1986, she taught Sunday School at First Assembly of God Church, and also tutored youth with reading at the Hugo Guidance Center.
Tanksleary moved to Seminole in December, 1997 to be closer to her family.
She married Rev. Albert Tanksleary on Feb. 24, 1958 in Haworth. They pastored several churches, including Savannah, Farris, Kingfisher, and Grandfield Assembly of God Churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; two brothers, Samuel and Paul Billings; and two sisters, Dora Stevens, and Mary Coldrin.
Survivors include one sister, Anna McEwen, Seminole; and one brother, Rev. James Billings, Primville, Ore.
Myrtle Taylor
Funeral services for lifelong Maud and St. Louis resident, Myrtle Carrie Ann (McGill) Taylor, 97, were held today at First Baptist Church, Maud.
Rev. Jim Kirkendall and Rev. George Bone officiated at the service. Burial followed at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
Taylor died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 in Eufaula.
She was born Feb. 6, 1901 in Indian Territory near Coalgate to Thomas C. and Laura (Blevins) McGill.
A homemaker, Taylor was a member of First Baptist Church, Maud.
She married George Ollie Taylor Aug. 19, 1914 in Ada. He preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1974.
Taylor was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; one daughter, Chessie Browning; one son, Charlie Taylor; two grandchildren; four sisters and seven brothers.
Survivors include three children, Elma Smith Mitchell, Maud, Laura Hice, Rockland, Calif., and George Taylor, Eufaula; one brother, Virgil McGill, Chickasha; and one sister, Ruth Ann McGill, Muskogee.
Also surviving her are 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Michael Tebe
Funeral services for Konawa resident Michael Dewayne Tebe, 24, are scheduled for 2 p.m. at Pentecostal Church of God.
Rev. Arthur Carpitcher will officiate at the family cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
Tebe died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 in Ada.
He was born Sept. 14, 1974 in Shawnee to Joan and Vernon Cecil Tebe.
A roofer, Tebe was a lifelong Konawa resident, and a member of the Konawa Pentecostal Church of God.
Survivors include his mother and father, both of Konawa; one son, Jonathan Tebe, Konawa; and three brothers, Steven Nelson Tebe, Vernon Ross Tebe, and Jacob Tebe, all of Konawa.
Pallbearers are listed as Arthur Tebe, Paul Tebe, Steven Tebe, Lydell Yellowfish, Vernon Ross Tebe, Anthony Harjo, Reuben Perez and Lorenzo Perez.
Douglas Templeton
Graveside services for Maud resident Douglas D. Templeton, 72, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Tecumseh Mission Cemetery.
Rev. Frank Brewer is scheduled to officiate the services which are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.
Templeton died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center.
He was born July 9, 1927 in Holdenville to William Marvin Templeton and Birdie (Farrell) Templeton.
In 1969 he married Relta (Roberts) Hopkins in Amarillo, Texas; she survives him of the home.
Templeton moved to Maud from Holdenville to Maud in 1967. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired in 1986.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Other survivors include one son, Daryl Templeton, Maud, one sister, Alpha Saunders, Holdenville, two brothers Doyle Tampleton, Holden-ville and Deryl Tampleton, Cleo Springs; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
Ruby Terrell
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Ruby Belle (Cook) Terrell, 93, were held today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiated at the service. Burial followed at Garden Grove Cemetery, south of Prague.
Terrell died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999 at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee.
She was born Feb. 11, 1906 in Clinton, Ark. to Frank and Nancy Elizabeth (Cooper) Cook.
Terrell was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a former member of Garden Grove Ladies Aid.
She co-owned and operated Terrell’s Grocery from 1948 to 1964, then became a homemaker.
She was married to Robert Arnold Terrell in 1921 in the Garden Grove Community; he preceded her in death in June of 1964.
Terrell was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, three sisters and one brother.
Other survivors include two daughters, Norma Houston, Shawnee, and Betty Underwood and her husband, Melvin, Seminole; one daughter-in-law, Helen Terrell, Seminole; two sisters, Ruth Nordyke, Odessa, Texas and Pearl Denney, Prague; and grandchildren, Bob Terrell, Bartlesville, Nancy Rogers, Shawnee, Pat Berry, Shawnee and Tina Crawford, Seminole.
Casket bearers are listed as Keith Rogers, Keith Crawford, Troy Honeycutt, Bob Terrell, Richard Foresee and Steve Berry.
Henry ‘Karo’ Thomas
Funeral services for lifelong Wewoka resident Henry K. "Karo" Thomas, 82, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Dan Anderson will officiate at the services.
Cremation will follow the services, and interment will take place at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, north of Wewoka at a later date.
Thomas died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999 at his Wewoka home.
He was born May 18, 1917 in Seminole County to Priest and Lucy (Sanders) Thomas.
He was reared in the Seminole County area as a child, and attended Pleasant Grove Schools.
Thomas enlisted in the US Army on May 28, 1941, and served as a medical technician during World War II.
He was discharged Dec. 14, 1945, and returned to Wewoka.
Thomas was employed with Filson Motors for many years, then went to work as a custodian for First Baptist Church until his retirement in 1997.
He married Thelma Robison on Oct. 15, 1993 in Shawnee. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include his stepchildren, Lee Ernest Price, Oklahoma City, Shirley Barkus, Seminole, Vennetta Ramsey, Rose Marie Morrison and Charles Price, all of Oklahoma City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are listed as Russell Daniels, Skeeter Spencer, Bobby Osborne and James Tiger.
Flower Girl will be Kay Daniels.
Ralph Thomas Sr.
Funeral services for Ralph L. Thomas Sr., brother of a Wewoka resident, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Oklahoma City.
Rev. Chester West of Emanuel Baptist Church will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Thomas died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 21, 1925 in Muskogee.
A 32nd degree Mason, Thomas retired from Tinker Field as a jet aircraft mechanic.
He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Looney was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Claude Thomas.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Deborah Jenkins, Hillsborough, N.J., and Angela D. Adams, Columbia, S.C.; one son, Ralph L. Thomas Jr., Beavercreek, Ohio; one sister, Wattyrene Stevenson, Wewoka; and eight grandchildren.
Louella Thomas
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Louella Thomas, 84, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Dr. Kelvin Moseley will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Thomas died Sunday, March 28, 1999 at Louisville, Ky.
She was born Sept. 4, 1914 in Snyder to Paschall and Georgia Della (Watts) Davis.
A teacher, she began her career at Carr City Schools, and was named Teacher of the Year in 1976.
Thomas retired from Seminole Public Schools in 1977.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Thomas was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tommy Thomas; former husband, Vernon Thomas; and twin sister, Della Brooking.
Survivors include one son, Robert R. Stephens, Peoria, Ill.; one daughter, Debbie T. Wesslund, Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Kelly Davis, Vernon, Texas, and Dick Davis, Bryson, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Hinton, Columbus, Miss.; and five grandchildren.
Casket bearers are listed as Kenny Brooking, Paul Wesslund, Brent Thomas, Melvin Brooking, Doyle Brooking and Robert Stephens.
