Funeral services for former longtime Wewoka resident Johnny Thompson Jr., 48, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Rev. F. Cochran of Thomastown Baptist Church will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Thompson died Thursday, April 1, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born April 30,. 1950 in Wewoka to Fannie M. Thompson.
Thompson was employed by the Veteran’s Administration and was a member of Thomastown Baptist Church.
He was married to Lena Thompson; she survives him of the home.
Thompson was preceded in death by two brothers.
Other survivors include his mother, of Wewoka; one daughter, Johnell L. Thompson, California; one son Enrique M. Thompson, Alaska; two brothers, Randall Keith Thompson, Arizona and Winford Lee Thompson, Tulsa; seven sisters, Shirley Thompson, California, Genone Thompson, Wewoka, Vernita Thompson, Wewoka, Verletta Thompson, Midwest City, Portia Jones, Richmond, Va., Renee Perry and Cheryl Brooks, both of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.
Michael Thompson
Funeral services for Michael K. Thompson, McAlester, 52, brother of Seminole resident Sandra Atyia, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories.
Rev. John Grubbs will officiate at the services, assisted by Rev. Jerry Hollaway. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors, under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Thompson died Sunday, July 18, 1999 at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born July 12, 1947 in Vernal, Utah to William C. "Moose" and Mauzelle Alcorn Thompson.
He attended school in Seminole and Marlow before graduating from Enid High School in 1966.
While in high school, he attended the Missouri Military Academy, then attended Okmulgee State Tech before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1967.
He served a tour in Viet Nam and in December, 1969, was stationed in the US Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlester as a security guard.
He married Judy Oliver on March 27, 1970 in McAlester.
Thompson re-enlisted in the Marines in 1972, and served until receiving a medical discharge in 1975.
He then moved to Enid, where he owned and operated Thompson’s Package Store for 15 years. He moved to Colorado in 1989 and back to McAlester in 1993.
Thompson was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the ASMIC and a member of the Indian Nation Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and was an original member of the Honor Guard of the Choctaw Nation.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Lewey Thompson, McAlester; one sister, Sandra Atyia, Seminole; one uncle, D.I. Alcorn, Athens, Texas; one great-uncle, Jack Willis, Ponca City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Thompson, Marlow.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Choctaw Nation Honor Guard, and Honorary bearers will be members of the Indian Nation Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Marine Corps League or the Leukemia Society.
Glen Thompson
Graveside services for lifelong Seminole resident Glen George Thompson, 85, were held Monday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Carl Whitfield officiated at the service. Burial arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Thompson died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center hospital.
He was born June 30, 1913 in Viola, Fulton County, Ark., to Elijah and Lou (Grisso) Thompson.
Thompson was a member of Harvey Road Baptist Church.
He was married to Atha (Chastain) Thompson; she preceded him in death March 2, 1986.
Thompson was also preceded in death by his parents.
There were no survivors listed.
Hazel Tiger
Funeral services for Hazel Inez Tiger, 61, mother of Seminole resident Amy Yargee, were held today at the home of Madison Bucktrot.
Jerry Baker officiated at the services. Interment followed at the Bucktrot family cemetery under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home, Bristow.
Tiger died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at her residence near Okemah.
She was born Jan. 6, 1938 in Claremore to Wysena and Annie (Brown) Bucktrot.
Tiger lived near Okemah for the past 23 years, moving from Bristow.
She attended the Mutteloke Methodist Church, and was employed as a presser for the Oklahoma City Quality Cleaners before retiring in 1986.
Tiger was a member of the Sand Creek Ceremonial Grounds, Deer Clan and gave cultural demonstrations around the state.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Joe Jones in 1976 and Tema Tiger in October, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Yargee, Seminole; two sisters, Ruth Crittendon, Stilwell, and Phoebe Jones, Claremore; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sonny Tiger
Funeral services for Harry "Sonny" Tiger, 64-year-old Konawa resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Services are planned at Pickard Chapel under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
The funeral will be followed by a wake service Wednesday night and burial at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Douglass family cemetery.
Tiger died Monday at Konawa.
He was born June 9, 1935, in Spaulding to Lizzy and Ollie Tiger.
He was a construction worker and spent his entire life in the Konawa area. He was a veteran and member of the Baptist church.
Tiger’s survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; three daughters, Lillian, Samantha and Gina Tiger, all of Oklahoma City; two sons, Ollie Tiger, Konawa, and Musky Tiger, Sulphur; and 11 grandchildren.
Pamela Tiger
Funeral services for Wewoka native Pamela F. Tiger, 38, were held today at Wewoka Indian Baptist Church.
Rev. Gary Hawkins and Rev. Charlie Denny officiated at the service. Interment followed at the Buck family cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Tiger died Friday, June 4, 1999 at University Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 22, 1960 in Wewoka to Leroy Joshua and Jane Tiger.
Tiger was reared and attended school in the Shawnee area, and was a member of the Cross Roads Cathedral in Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents, Amos and Mattie Hale.
Survivors include her father, of Okmulgee; one son, Micheal D. Chaney, of the home; one sister, Ginna Tiger, Shawnee; and one brother, Keith Tiger, Shawnee.
Tema Tiger
WEWOKA - Outdoor funeral services for Tema Tiger, lifelong Cromwell resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Mack-Bell residence with ceremonial ground speakers.
Interment will be in Mack-Bell Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Wake services were planned for Saturday at the home of Alice Mack, one and one-half miles west of the Rock Store in Cromwell.
The procession to the Mack residence was scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.
Tiger died Friday at Shawnee Regional Hospital at the age of 65.
He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Seminole County to Harry and Nettie Bell.
He attended school at Sequoyah and Butner. He worked for the city of Shawnee for 15 years.
Tiger was a member of the Fishpond Tribal Ground and the Alligator Clan. He was both Seminole and Creek.
He believed in keeping tradition alive by making ball sticks and attended traditional ceremonies. He also believed in passing the tradition on to younger people, traveling to schools in Georgia, Alabama and Florida to teach the Seminole and Creek traditions.
He married Hazel Bucktrot in September, 1978, in Bristow; she survives him, of the home.
Other survivors include his five children, Stella Lovings, Nettie Tiger, Wynette Tiger, Amy Yargee and Nora Camos, all of Oklahoma City; one sister, Eliza Wind, Cromwell; a half sister, Rhina Bell, Shawnee; two brothers, Leon and Kelly Bell, both of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Francis Cosar.
William Tiger
Funeral services for William A. Tiger, 70, brother of a Konawa resident, were held today at Sallateeska Baptist Church.
Rev. Pete Mayse officiated at the service. Burial was held in Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Tiger died Sunday, April 18, 1999 at his home.
He was born July 6, 1928 in Holdenville to Ewnah Jacob and Lillian (Foster) Tiger.
Tiger graduated with an associate of arts degree from Bismarck Junior College in North Dakota, and served two years in active duty with the US Marines in 1946-47.
Tiger was a retired minister and a member of Kickapoo Baptist Church.
He married Wanda Sue Wood on Aug. 17, 1958 in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death.
Tiger was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include six sons, Charles E. Tiger, Hollywood, Fla., Boyd Tiger, George Tiger, Tony Tiger, Mark Tiger and William "Jacob" Tiger, all of Shawnee; daughters, Leona Tiger, Channa Tiger, both of Shawnee, Robin Tiger, Selfridge, N.D., and Jimmie Dover; two sisters, Katie Louise Harjo, Konawa, and Katie Lou Wood, Shawnee; and 20 grandchildren.
