Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Tyner, 70, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church.
Dr. Kelvin Moseley will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Tyner died Friday, April 16, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center hospital.
He was born Feb. 19, 1929 in Seminole to Clinton Edward "Ed" and Oma K. (Watkins) Tyner.
A veteran, he served in both the United States Army and Navy, and received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Tyner was formerly employed with Moran Pipe and Supply, and Oklahoma Liquefied Gas of Seminole, and owned and operated a car dealership in Seminole until his retirement in June, 1991.
He married Lou Ann Montgomery on Feb. 24, 1961 in Seminole. She survives him of the home.
Tyner was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathrine Duff.
Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie Jackson and her husband, Danny, of Midwest City; and one grandson, Damon Jackson, Midwest City.
Casket bearers are listed as Les Walker, Glen Carrell, Chris Carrell, Manuel Rath, C.M. Clark, Dub Childers.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association.
Elsie Underwood
Funeral services for Seminole resident Elsie Lillian Underwood, 89, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church.
Rev. Charles Troglin and Rev. Dewayne Bobbitt will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Underwood died Saturday, April 10, 1999 in Seminole.
She was born May 28, 1909 Near Vernon, Ala. to Jessie and Mary Jane (Smith) Jones.
Underwood was a homemaker, a pastor’s wife, worked several years at Pat’s Café and a few years at Harvest House.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and Coney Island Tabernacle Church.
She married Rev. Gerald R. "Shorty" Underwood on May 10, 1929 in Perry. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1996.
Underwood was also preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Underwood, Seminole, and Jessie Underwood, Shawnee; and three grandchildren, Aaron Underwood, Shawnee, and Joshua and Leslie Underwood, both of Seminole.
William "Whitey" Vandeveer
Funeral services for William Clyde "Whitey" Vandeveer, husband of a Wewoka native, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pentecostal Holiness Church, Calvin.
Rev. Larry Chesser and Rev. James Caudill will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.
Vandeveer died Monday, March 22, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1921 in Calvin to William Henry and Leola (Chronister) Vandeveer.
He was reared in Calvin, where he attended school.
Vandeveer joined the US Army in Aug. 1942, and served until December, 1946 in the Air Corps in the South Pacific.
Vandeveer was a member of Gleaners Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He married Hazel Roper in Wewoka on March 29, 1947. The couple resided in Holdenville for a few years, then moved to Calvin.
His wife survives him of the home.
Vandeveer was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Vandeveer and one sister, Ida Woodruff.
Other survivors include two sons, Donald McCoy, McLoud, and Clyde Lee Vandeveer, Mena, Ark.; three daughters, Norma Treat, Odessa, Texas, Billye Conley, Seminole and Jean Wilbanks, Calvin; one sister, Kate Catlett, Tulsa; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Larry VanZant Jr.
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Larry Don "D.J." VanZant Jr., 23, were held Saturday at Parks Brother Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah.
Paul Heard officiated at the service. Interment followed at Welty Cemetery.
VanZant died Wednesday, May 19, 1999 in Wewoka.
He was born July 25, 1975 in Okemah to Larry Don VanZant Sr. and Rita LeMay.
He graduated from Okemah High School in 1994 and joined the US Marine Corps.
VanZant was a member of the Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Evelyn and Jackie Dearman.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Bobby VanZant, Pendleton, Ore., Tyler VanZant and Russell VanZant, both of Okemah; three sisters Shawna Stanley, Medford, Ore., Nikki VanZant, Bakersfield, Calif., and Stephanie VanZant, Orlando, Fla.; and grandparents, Don and Bobbie VanZant, Bristow.
Charles Vass
SHAWNEE - Graveside services for former longtime Seminole resident Charles Vass, 62, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Fred Morrison will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Vass died Saturday, June 12, 1999 at a Shawnee hospital.
He was born March 12, 1937 in Seminole to Thurman and Lela Vass.
Schooled in Prairie Valley, he lived most of his life in Seminole, moving to Shawnee two years ago.
Vass was a veteran of the US Air Force from 1955-59.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Vass was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, of Shawnee; his wife, Rose Vass, of the home; one son, Charles Michael Vass, Seminole; two daughters, Denise North, and Jenen Vass-Factor, both of Seminole; one sister, Judy Smith, Hazelville, Kan.; two brothers, Tommy Vass, Ada and Jerry Vass, Paden; and seven grandchildren.
Harold Veach
Graveside services for longtime Bowlegs resident Harold Lloyd Veach, 61, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Roy Robertson will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Veach died this morning, Sept. 21, 1999 at his home in Bowlegs.
He was born Oct. 30, 1937 in Wynnewood to E.A. and Bessie (Hendricks) Veach.
Veach worked in the oil field, and was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.
He married Paula Marie Webster on Dec. 24, 1966 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She survives him of the home.
Veach was preceded in death by his father in 1952; his mother in 1960; one daughter, Myra M. Wilfong, in 1967; two sons, Markel M. Wilfong in 1989 and Sean E. Veach in 1995; and one sister, Barbara Smith, in 1990.
Other survivors include three sons, Michael M. Worley, and Mitchell M. Worley, both of Seminole, and Starland L. Veach, Bowlegs; two daughters, Sabre L. Dixon, Ada and Kristina M. Veach, of the home.
Also surviving him are five brothers, James V. Veach, Choctaw, Darrell Veach, Bowlegs, Larry D. Veach, Bartlesville, Albert Veach, Pampa, Texas and Arron Veach, Seminole; one sister, Evelyn Marie Hadley, Bartlesville; and 18 grandchildren.
Ila Villines
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Ila Vivian Villines, 87, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Dan Factor will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.
Villines died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at Pioneer Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 12, 1912 in Maud to George Houston and Vada Darthula (Weatherford) Roberts.
A homemaker, Villines was a member of the Wolf Freewill Baptist Church.
She was married to Vernon Douglas Villines on June 30, 1930 in Konawa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1985.
Villines was also preceded in death by one infant son in 1931, and one brother, Roy Arvle Roberts.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Dale Villines, Wolf, Wade Lynn Villines, Hominy; one daughter, Mona Rae Harrington, Wolf; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Helen Vulgamore
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Helen "Earlene" Vulgamore, 55, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Vulgamore died Thursday, June 17, 1999 at Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City.
She was born Aug. 18, 1943 in Little Rock, Ark. to Earl and Helen (Morris) Martin.
A homemaker, Vulgamore lived in the Seminole area 30 years ago, and was currently residing in Odessa, Texas.
She married Loyd Vulgamore on March 13, 1962 in Seminole. He survives her of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ricky Martin.
Other survivors include one son, Joe Vulgamore, Odessa, Texas; four brothers, Randy Martin and Jimmy Martin, both of Houston, Bobby Martin, Jefferson, Texas, and Herman Martin, Holland, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Honorary bearers are listed as Larry Vulgamore, John Seifried, John Seifried III, Mark Seifried Stacy Cooper, and David Bass.
