Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Jewell Viola Ward, 87, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First Free Will Baptist Church, Bristow.
Rev. Gene Jackson will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.
Ward died Wednesday, June 9, 1999 in Tulsa.
She was born July 17, 1911 in Schulter to Charley and Ida Mae (Reddell) Ewing.
She lived and was reared in Sasakwa before moving to Bristow in 1954.
She married George Andrew Ward on Sept. 10, 1927 in Okemah. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1977.
Ward was also preceded in death by one son J. W., in 1990, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include five children, Jeweldean Martin, Bristow, Wanda Johnson, Seminole, Barbara Atwell, Sapulpa, Geneva Davidson, Bristow and James Wark, Bristow; four brothers, Frank Ewing, Pratt, Kan., John Marvin Rayburn, Midland, Texas, George M. Rayburn, Bristow and LeRoy Rayburn, Dale, Ind.; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grand-children and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Troy Lee Ward
MEEKER — Funeral services for Troy Lee Ward, 75, Meeker, were held today at the Meeker First Christian Church.
The Rev. Don Campo officiated. Interment immediately followed at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.
Ward died Saturday, June 12, 1999 in Meeker.
He was born Nov. 19, 1923 in Asher to Clyde William Ward and Margie Bell (Bettis) Ward.
On March 30, 1945, he married Alba Mae Guinn in Wewoka; she survives him of the home.
The couple made their home in the Pottawatomie County area. He was an elder in the First Christian Church of Meeker and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Meeker Masonic Lodge.
Ward was self-employed dairy farmer for many years and owned and operated a trucking company from 1968 to 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Case, Meeker, and two granddaughters.
Kenneth F. Warden
Kenneth F. Warden, born April 1, 1923, at Lamar, Okla., passed away Thursday, July 22, 1999 at his home in the Strother community, where he had resided since 1947.
He grew up in the Prague and Paden area, graduating from Paden High School in 1940.
After serving in the US Army and Army Air Corps during World War II, he owned the K.F. Warden Welding Service and was a farmer.
He drove a bus for Strother School for 13 years and later served on the Strother School board.
He also worked for the US Corps of Engineers as a gatekeeper at Porum Landing on Lake Eufaula for three years and at Strayhorn Landing on Lake Tenkiller for one year.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and hard work.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Veta McGehee Warden, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Don and Sharon Warden of Tecumseh, and Kenneth Lynn and Linda Warden, Seminole; and daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Francis and Joe North of Fort Smith, Ark., Karol Jean and Charley Parker of College Station, Texas, and Denise Davis, Seminole.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy and Eddie Szczepan of Seminole, Pam and Mike Bailey of Paden, Kenny Warden of Seminole, Misty Lunsford, Seminole, Shannon and Cary Morgan of Seminole, April North and Randy North of Fort Smith, Kristi Troxel of College Station, Tedda, TJ and Trevor Davis of Seminole and Mabry, Ben and Becky Parker of Littleton, Colo.
Survivors also include his three great-grandchildren, Taryn Morgan, Seminole, and Tyler and Kassidy Bailey of Paden.
He is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, John R. and Lavonne Warden, Wellston, and D.L. Warden, Prague.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.F. and Georgia Warden, and one grandson, Jeremy Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Velma Warden
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Velma Lee Warden, 83, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Harvey Road Baptist Church.
Rev. Robert Hightower and Rev. Fred Morrison will officiate at the service. Burial will follow under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Warden died Friday, March 5, 1999 at Pioneer Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1915 in Sallisaw to Arthur and Rosie (Shivers) Tye.
A homemaker, Warden was active in many churches in the Seminole area.
She was married to Ennis Warden, who preceded her in death.
Warden was also preceded by two sons, A.V. and Richard Warden, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include six sons, Robert Carl, Johnny and Jessie Warden, all of Seminole, Melvin Warden, Yukon, Floyd Warden, Meeker, and Russell Warden, Shawnee; three daughters, Elsie Hill and Linda Hoskison, both of Seminole, and Rosie Soule, Bowlegs; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Warden’s grandsons are listed as pallbearers.
Yortis Warman
Word was just received of the death of former Seminole County resident, Yortis Warman, 44.
She died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999 at her home in Okemah.
After the cremation, a private family service will be held.
She was born Sept. 10, 1955 in Arkansas to Robert and Susan Caples.
Warman moved to Seminole about five years ago, before moving to Okemah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Sherman Caples.
Survivors include three children, Nicole Stafford, Holdenville, Christopher Caples, Vacaville, Calif., and Brandy Curry, Seminole; 11 brothers and sisters, Donna Lamey, Mary McClure, Richard Caples, Bobby Ray Caples, Cassie Neel, Roberta McKinley, Sara Madden, Michael Caples, Steven Caples, David Caples, and Cecil Caples; and four grandchildren.
Iva Warren
Former long-time Wewoka resident, Iva Warren, 85, Lawton, died Friday, May 14, 1999 in Lawton.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Ritter Gray Funeral Home, Lawton.
Warren was born June 29, 1913 at Hennessy to Homer and Cora Bozworth.
She attended Lamont High School. She married Albert Warren; he preceded her in death.
Warren was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Doyle Warren, a grandson, Mark Anthony Warren, three sisters, Dora Bozworth, Eva Kay and Neva Jean Taylor and three brothers, Loyd Bozworth, Waldo Bozworth and Johnny Bozworth.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Farrell Warren, Lawton and Earl Warren, Wetumka; two sisters Velma Falconer and Opal Neal, both of Ponca City; three grandsons and one-great-grandson.
Michael Warrenburg
Funeral services for Michael Allen Warrenburg, 48, brother of a Seminole resident, were held today at Dale Church of Christ.
Dewayne Thomas and Rick Ramsey officiated at the service. Burial followed at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch Walker Funeral Chapel.
Warrenburg died Saturday, March 20, 1999 at his home in Dale.
He was born Nov. 11, 1950 in Shawnee to J.D. and Dean (Stapleton) Warrenburg.
He graduated from Choctaw High School in 1969, and was a maintenance worker at Tinker Air Force Base.
He was a member of the Dale Church of Christ.
Warrenburg was preceded in death by his father and one grandfather, Elmer Sanders.
Survivors include his mother, of the home; one grandmother, Alice Thrasher, Dale; two brothers, Reed Warrenburg, Seminole, and Jim Warrenburg, Tecumseh; and his former wife, Judy Ellis, Tecumseh.
Oleta Washburn
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Oleta Washburn, 85, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel, Holdenville.
Rev. Meredith Robinson will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.
Washburn died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999 at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 4, 1913 in Holdenville to Ed and Tiny (Bates) Brown.
Washburn grew up and attended school in Holdenville, graduating in 1930. She then attended business school for one year.
She lived in Yeager and Seminole for 30 years before moving to Norman in 1970.
She married Bob T. Washburn on Sept. 13, 1932.
Washburn was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Bobby Rene and G.W. Washburn; one daughter, Naida Hines; one sister and one brother.
Survivors include four daughters, Marie Roberts and Sandra Jackson, both of Mustang, Margaret Lachner, Sun River, Ore., and Carol Burris, Yukon; one brother, Harold Brown, Turlock, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Gary Watson
Graveside services for Seminole County native Gary Louis Watson, 55, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Watson died Friday, April 30, 1999 at his home in Chickasha.
He was born Nov. 17, 1944 in Wewoka to H. L. and Betty Lou (Garrett) Watson.
He lived his early years in Seminole, and attended Seminole Schools.
Watson was employed as a security guard in Chickasha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, of Seminole; two daughters, Dawn Hendryx, Norman, and Ashley Watson, Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Greg Watson, Las Vegas; and one grandson.
