Mary Lou Watters

Funeral services for Mary Lou (Tarpley) Watters, 77, the mother of a Wewoka woman, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville.

Rev. Glen Eves and Rev. Kellos Walker will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Watters died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the Holdenville General Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1921 in McCurtain County to Roy Tarpley and Bertha (Eaves) Tarpley.

She was reared in the Yeager community and has lived in Yeager, Bilby, Holdenville and Sasakwa areas.

On Oct. 24, 1937, she married A. M. Watters in Seminole County; he preceded her in death in 1975.

She worked as a cook for New Model school and Holdenville Nursing home.

She was preceded in death by one son, Alvie O. "Buddy" Watters in 1973, by two grandchildren, Carl and Tina Watters and one step-grandson, Joe Howell.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Watters, Holdenville, Charles "Chuck" Watters, Holdenville, Derrell Watters, Morrison, and Rickey Watters, Lakeland, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Lyon, Wewoka, and Rena Orsburn, Holdenville; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children, three brothers and one sister.

Leona Watts

Graveside services for Maud resident Leona Lucille Watts, 79, were held Saturday at Konawa Cemetery.

She died Friday, June 25, 1999.

Watts was born May 18, 1920 in Pawhuska to Albert Wood and Leona Winfield (Starns).

A homemaker, she was employed at Valley View Hospital for several years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Konawa.

She married Gilbert Bates on July 28, 1937. He preceded her in death. She was also married to Earl Watts in Oklahoma City; he also preceded her in death.

White was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Fran Starns, Claud L. Starns and Billy E. Starns; and both parents.

Survivors include one son, Dan Bates, Alpine, Texas; three stepdaughters, Bobbie Hillhouse, Berwyn, Penn., Earline Whittaker, and Loretta Winkler, both of Liberal, Kan.; two stepsons, Wayne Watts, Minneapolis, Kan., and Drew Watts, Wacona, Minn.;

Other survivors are one brother, Jimmy C. Starns, Seminole; two sisters, Kathleen Grims Belt and Mary Jo Rains; nine stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Sam Webb

Funeral services for former Seminole businessman Sam L. Webb, 82, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Broadway United Methodist Church, Tecumseh.

Rev. Will Bentley will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Webb died Monday, March 22, 1999 in Shawnee.

He was born Dec. 17, 1916 in Vivian to John Livingston and Daisy Martha (Hopkins) Webb.

Webb attended school in Tecumseh before moving near Eufaula and graduating from Onapa High School.

A veteran, he served on the USS Independence for two years with the US Navy during World War II.

After his discharge, he continued his work as a shoe salesman in Seminole and Shawnee.

Webb also spent a short time as an insurance salesman, owned a cattle ranch and worked in oilfield construction until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh since the 1920’s.

Webb was a supporter of the Earlsboro High School basketball teams, and served on the county water board for many years.

He married Bernice C. Joiner in Checotah on March 29, 1937. She survives him of the home.

Webb was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie Haase; one sister, Ada Archer; and three brothers, Joe, Oral and Don Webb.

Other survivors include one son, Tom Webb, Champagne, Ill.; and one daughter, Patty McKelvey, Tecumseh; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Rickie Welch

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Rickie Joe Welch, 52, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Lone Dove Cemetery, north of Sasakwa.

Floyd Jameson will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

Welch died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City.

He was born Dec. 24, 1946 in Holdenville to Herbert and Alma Welch.

A production roustabout foreman, he worked in the oilfields.

Survivors include three daughters, Rena Nail and Shawna Welch, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Malina Welch, of the Holdenville home; five grandchildren and another expected; and one special friend, Phillis James.

Pallbearers will be porter John Olden, Steve Nail, Hubert Reich, Rodney Martin, Larry Reich and Chris Keefer.

Honorary pallbearers include Travis Barker and Troy Keefer.

Charlotte Weldon

Graveside services for former Seminole native Charlotte Francis (Killingsworth) Weldon, 84, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Weldon died Tuesday, April 6, 1999 in Dallas Texas.

She was born May 14, 1918 in Seminole, the third of six children to George and MaryEtta (Spurr) Killingsworth.

Weldon was crowned homecoming queen of Seminole High School in 1935, and graduated one year later.

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, she taught school before starting a family.

Weldon was a member of Garden Clubs all over the United States, and traveled extensively, including a trip down the Amazon River.

In her later years, she moved to Texas to live with her son.

She was married to Vance Weldon, a Lieutenant in the US Navy. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Weldon, Dallas, and Barry Weldon, Vinita; one brother, John Killingsworth, Shawnee; and two sisters, Bargaret Burns and George Etta Emerson, both of Oklahoma City.

Ada West

Funeral services for Ada Belle (Mills) West, 79, of Seminole are set for Friday at 2 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home.

West will be buried at Little Cemetery.

She died Aug. 4, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center.

West was born in Sylvian on Oct. 19, 1999 to R.M. and Bertie Mae (Arnold) Mills.

West was raised in Seminole before moving to Cushing, returning to Seminole in 1994.

She married Johnnie Lee West on January 31, 1939 in Little.

West was a Co-owner of Eunice’s Dress Shop in Cushing.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Seminole, the Shell Retirees Club and the Christian Women’s Fellowship Group.

West was proceeded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of Seminole; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Andrea West of Highland Village, Texas; one daughter, Darlene Rogers of Flower Mound, Texas; one sister, Edna Parrish of Seminole; three brothers, Claude Mills of Midland, Texas, Bob Mills of Seminole and W.C. Mills of San Angelo, Texas.

West is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrea West, Devon West, Jeff West, Darcy Lewis and Dan Lewis and one great-grandchild, Alyssa Lewis well as several nieces and nephews.

Journee West

Funeral services for one-month-old Journee Rae West, daughter of Lumsey West and LaDona Buckley, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Indian Nations Baptist Church.

Rev. Bill Burnett will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Mitchell family cemetery in Hanna under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Wake services are set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

West died this morning at her Seminole home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1999 in Ada to Lumsey Dean West and LaDonna Mae Buckley. They survive her of the home.

West was preceded in death by grandparents Ledon and Mary Jane Buckley.

Other survivors include four brothers, Andrew Buckley, William West and Henry West, all of the home, and Anthony Buckley, Wetumka; and grandparents Nellie and Bill West, Weleetka.

Pare Lee ‘Bunny’ West

WEWOKA - Funeral services for Pare "Bunny" West, former Seminole County resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bird Creek Baptist Church, Sasakwa.

Robert Washington and Bryant Jesse will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Bird Creek Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Wake services were scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Chapel.

The coffin is scheduled to be taken to Bird Creek Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Monday for wake services at the church.

West died Thursday at his home in Leavenworth, Kans., at the age of 65.

He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Maud to Legus and Sissie (Palmer) West.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1953 to 1955.

He retired from roofing in 1994.

He was a member and deacon of Bird Creek Church and Roofers Local No. 20 for 44 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Lawrence, Kans., and the Abdallah Shrine Temple, Kansas City, Kans.

He married Johnnie (Bobbie) Jesse West on Jan. 21,1961, in Kansas City. She survives him, of the home.

Other survivors include three children, Pare Lee West Jr., Weleetka; Tiffany Lee West, Leavenworth, Kans., and Woodrow West, Maud; two sisters, Leah West and Lana Harjo, both of Seminole.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie, Tommy, Cotcha and Porter West, and one sister, Alice West.

Pallbearers will include Larry Spybuck, Robert Cantley, John Jamison, Pat Scanlon, Billy Ray and Cecil Moon.
