Graveside services for Sasakwa native Peggy Lois Westrope, 66, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Paden Cemetery.
Rev. Carl Clay will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.
Westrope died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at Creek Nation Hospital, Okemah.
She was born Feb. 21, 1933 in Sasakwa to Alfred and Ruby (Barnhart) Nalley.
A homemaker, Westrope moved to the Okemah area in 1953, and was a resident of Colonial Park Nursing Home.
She married Joe Alfred Westrope on Sept. 25, 1953 in Seminole County. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Anthony Westrope, Okemah; brothers, Jerry Lee Nalley, Washington and Danny Nelley, McMinnville, Ore.; sisters, Patsy Smith, Long Beach, Calif., Sue Sharp, Yukon, and Mary Lou Weatherly, East Lake, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
John Wetzel Jr.
SANFORD, N.C. - Funeral mass for Wewoka resident John Martin Wetzel Jr., 53, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in North Carolina.
Father John Forbes will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
Wetzel died Friday, May 7, 1999 at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was a native of Patterson, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Ackerman Wetzel; four sons, John Martin Wetzel III, Rochester, N.Y., Roy Wetzel, Oswego, N.Y., Rod Wetzel and David Wetzel, both of Wewoka; three daughters, Laura Strasburgh, Oswego, N.Y., Barbara Van Dunk, Parsippany, N.J., and Patty Wetzel, Rochester, N.Y.
Other survivors include his mother, Ann S. Wetzel, Sanford, one brother, Steven Wetzel, Troutman, N.C.; two sisters, Pat Coyle, Cary, N.C. and Mary Lou Hall, Sanford; and 18 grandchildren.
Edna Whan
Funeral services for Seminole resident Edna "Susie" Mae Whan, 88, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Warren, Penn., under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Whan died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999 at Shawnee Regional Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1910 in Clarksburg, W. Va. to Frank A. and Isabell (Zeller) Whan.
A retiree, Whan moved to Seminole from Warren, Penn., and has been a resident since 1977.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Whan was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one sister, Ella Culberston, Seminole; and several nieces and nephews, Denise Templeton, Mary Bryan and Joann Parker, all of Seminole, Richard Parker, Oklahoma City and other relatives in Warren.
Catherine Whatmoor
Graveside services for Konawa resident Catherine May Whatmoor, 70, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Sam Riccobene will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.
Whatmoor died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999 in Ada.
She was born Sept. 26, 1929 in Edinborough, Scotland.
Whatmoor moved to Konawa from Coventry, England in 1982.
She worked in the banking industry.
She married Ebor Gerald Whatmoor on Aug. 12, 1952 in Edinborough. He survives her of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Scott Dean Whatmoor, Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Cherryll Valerie Motlib, Coventry, England; two sisters, one brother and one grandson.
Cherry Wheeler
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Cherry A. (Replogle) Wheeler, 57, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Wheeler died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at Cedar Lake, near Heavener.
She was born Nov. 22, 1941 in Seminole to George Turner and Wilda (Moore) Replogle.
Wheeler worked for 15 years at Liberty National Bank in Oklahoma City, and for five years at Seminole State College before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association and a graduate of Seminole Schools.
She was married to Jim Wheeler on Aug. 4, 1983 in Sulphur. He survives her of the home.
Wheeler was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don Replogle.
Other survivors include two half-brothers, John and Shawn Replogle, Ventura, Calif.
Casket bearers are listed as Archie Yeager, J.B. Riddle and Bill Cleary.
Alva Whisnant
Funeral services for longtime Cromwell resident Alva E. Whisnant, 63, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cromwell Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Bob Woodward and Ricky Searcy will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Whisnant died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999 at Veteran’s Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He was born in Coulp, Ark. to Robert "Shorty" and Ollie (Ramey) Whisnant.
He was raised in Cromwell and attended school there.
A veteran, Whisnant served in the Air Force as a cook during the Vietnam and Korean Wars.
He worked as a butcher at Scott’s IGA, and the M&P.
Whisnant married Shirley Rountree and adopted two sons while living most of their lives in Cromwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Whisnant, Oklahoma City, and Lesley Whisnant, Blackwell; two brothers, Robert Whisnant, Stroud, and James Whisnant, Bearden; five sisters, Evelyn Hill, Paden, Dorothy Roberts, Weleetka, Jerry Meeks, Mounds, Jean Cooper, Tulsa, and Joyce Parker, Odessa, Texas; and two granddaughters.
Pallbearers are listed as Dennis Whisnant, Billy Whisnant, Bobby Whisnant, Jimmy Don Whisnant, Eddie Dodson, and Johnny Underwood.
Arthur White
Memorial services for former longtime Seminole resident Arthur Lee White, 81, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service.
White died Friday, June 4, 1999 at his home in Oklahoma City.
He was born May 30, 1918 in Bowlegs to Sam White and Irene Brown.
White grew up helping at Home Lumber Company, which his father started, then for the US Postal Service. He retired in 1982.
A veteran, White served in the US Army and Air Force, at a Tech Sergeant during World War II.
He served as a waist gunner on B-24’s and B-25’s on Christmas Island in the South Pacific.
White received a Purple Heart medal for his service in the Pacific Theater.
When not on missions, he provided caricatures and artwork for the USO.
He was a kind and considerate person who could not say no to anyone who asked for his help.
White married Betty Love on May 24, 1947; she preceded him in death.
He then married his childhood sweetheart, Helen Donaldson, on Oct. 25, 1986. She survives him of the home.
White was preceded in death by one son, William Kim White, on Aug. 20, 1959; one daughter, Sandy Lee White Reid, on Nov. 28, 1996; his parents, and one brother, Sam Herbert White.
Other survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Buford and Linda White, Shawnee, and Leon and Ruth White, Ft. Worth, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cora ‘Lousianna’ White
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Cora "Lousianna" White, 93, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the family home, three miles east and ¼ mile south on SH 270, on west side of road.
Rev. Dave Bowlegs will officiate at the services, assisted by Andy Alexander and Orville Kirk.
Interment will follow at the family cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
She will be taken to the family home at 4 p.m. Thursday.
White died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 in Seminole.
She was born July 9, 1906 to Barney and Nellie White. She lived in Seminole for the past 70 years.
White worked as a general laborer, and was a member of the Mekusukey Baptist Church, and Fish Pond Tribal Ground.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons.
Survivors include two children, Nelsey Leetka, Seminole, and Nancy Palmer, of the home; three grandchildren, seven grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers are listed as Robert Leetka Jr., Robert J. Leetka, Anthony Orr, Christopher Leetka, Steven Orr and William Leetka.
Honorary bearers include Melissa Wallace, Tracey Harjo, T.J. Mack, Kevin Mack, Felix Mack, Darren Mack and Gary Holtulke.
