Memorial services for longtime Seminole resident Dow Jackson "Jack" White, 76, are scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God.
Rev. Roger Brewer and Rev. Joe Faircloth will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
White died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999 at Baptist Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1922 in Paducah, Ken., to Thomas and Lina (Sullivan) White.
A veteran, he served with the US Coast Guard as a machinist’s mate 2nd Class during World War II. He was in the service from March, 1942 through Oct., 1945.
White was a member of the American Legion Post #204, 40 and 8; and also the IOOF. He attended the First Church of God.
He retired from the field of construction, where he was self-employed.
White married Lillian (Sechrist) White on Dec. 9, 1944 in Norfolk, Va. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Mike White, Edmond; two daughters, Donna Wolff, Seminole, and Lee Quisenberry, Shawnee; one brother, J.T. White, Lake Placid, N.Y.; one sister, Carmen Jordan, Creel Springs, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Nellie White
Funeral services for Wewoka native Nellie Louise White, 60, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Church of Christ in McLoud.
Ben Glover and Mike Shelburne will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Viewing will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday only at Lakeview Church of Christ.
White died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at her home.
She was born Aug. 17, 1938 in Wewoka to Chester and Florence (Catlett) Collier.
A homemaker, White was a graduate of Spaulding High School in 1956.
She was one of the founding members of Lakeview Church of Christ, a longtime Bible school teacher, leader of many Bible studies, and a worker in women’s prison ministries.
White donated countless hours to making teaching materials and developed a three year curriculum for all youth Bible classes, and was a Den mother for her sons’ Cub Scouts.
She was a member of the OKC Women’s League Bowling, OKC and Shawnee Women’s fast pitch softball as a pitcher, and several independent basketball leagues.
White had won numerous trophies and awards as well as a participant in national events several times.
She married Clifford J.W. White on June 29, 1956 in Holdenville. He survives her of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Bryon White, McLoud and Gregory White, Prague; her mother, of Crescent; two brothers, J.C. Collier, Hennessey, and Kenneth Collier, Osage; two sisters, Vera Epperly, Holdenville, and Linda Blanton, Tulsa; and six grandchildren.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Nellie White Memorial Fund for Bible Teaching Materials at Lakeview Church of Christ, or Hospice of Shawnee.
George Whitford
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident George W. Whitford, 76, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church.
Dr. Kelvin Moseley is scheduled to officiate the service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Whitford died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born on March 29, 1923 in Holdenville to Sam Whitford and Opal (Rupe) Whitford.
On Dec. 26, 1942, he married Frances Vermillion Whitford in Wewoka; she survives him of the home.
Whitford was with The Seminole Company, an oilwell service company, for over 30 years before retiring in 1976.
A veteran of World War II, Whitford was in campaigns at Normandy, Rhineland Ardennes, Northern France and Central Europe.
He was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church.
Whitford was preceded in death by mother, Opal Rupe Eason, one stepbrother, Edgar Eason, and stepfather, Perry E. Eason.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and L. E. Schneiter III, Shawnee; one brother, Dale Eason, Austin, Texas; and one sister, Helen Mason, Oklahoma City, and two grandchildren, Lance Schneiter, Norman and Trent Schneiter, Dallas, Texas.
At the family’s request, donations of sympathy may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the First Baptist Church of Seminole.
Charlotte Whitlow
Graveside services for longtime Maud resident Charlotte Marie Whitlow, 85, were held Monday at Cummings Cemetery.
Gerd Fetch officiated at the service. Arrangements were under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
Whitlow died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999 at Shawnee Regional Hospital.
She was born April 3, 1914 in San Francisco, Calif. to Charles Austin and Sue (Grigsby) Turner.
A homemaker, Whitlow was a member of the Maud Church of Christ.
She married Pleas John Whitlow on Oct. 24, 1936 in Vallejo, Calif. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1999.
Whitlow was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Survivors include Joel Whitlow, Maud and John Whitlow; one daughter, Marie Burkhart, Mountain Burg, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
Pleas Whitlow
Graveside services for Maud resident Pleas John Whitlow, 88, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Cummings Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
Whitlow died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at the VA Center in Norman.
He was born March 6, 1911 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to Joseph and Elizabeth (Frasier) Whitlow.
A veteran, he served as Chief Machinist Mate in the US Navy.
Whitlow retired in 1948, and moved to Maud 23 years ago from Arkansas. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Maud.
Whitlow married Charlotte Turner on Oct. 24, 1936 in Vallejo, Calif. She survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Other survivors include two sons, Joel Whitlow, Maud, and John Whitlow; one daughter, Marie Burkhart, Mountain Burg, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
Eddie Whitson
Funeral services for longtime Seminole area resident Eddie Lee Whitson, 46, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Father’s Church in Tecumseh.
Wanda Hopper will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Whitson died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 at Pioneer Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1953 in Okmulgee to Marvin Lee Whitson and Peggy Jo (Edmonds) Sadler.
Whitson was a retired presser at Big Yank Company in Wewoka, and has been disabled with illness for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his mother, of Seminole; one daughter, Shelly Sue Whitson, Okemah; two brothers, Robert Allen Whitson, of Louisiana, and Faron Clint Whitson, of Gene Autry; two sisters, Peggy Marlene Lennon, Okmulgee, and Barbara Jo Taylor, Wyoming, Okla.
Barbara Whittern
Memorial services for Barbara Whittern, 55, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fairview Baptist Church in Earlsboro.
Rev. Bob Anderson will conduct the service under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
Whittern died on Wednesday, September 1, 1999.
She was born on June 26, 1944 in Wetumka at A. J. and Flossie (Pruitt) May.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Whittern was an Earlsboro resident until the time of her death.
In September 1962, Whittern married Danny Whittern of Seminole, who survives her of the hom.
She was preceded in death by both parents, one daughter, Beverly Whittern; and one brother, Devoe May.
Whittern is survived by one son, Steve Whittern, two brothers, Roger May, Seminole and Jerry May, Comanche; eight sisters, Obie Osborn, Wetumka, Claudia West, Seminole, Judy Collier, Wewoka, Janie Mize, Earlsboro, Ladonna Brown, Seminole, Jeannie Jones, Seminole, and Mary Brawdy, Seminole and one granddaughter.
Ollie Widiger
Graveside services for Seminole resident Ollie Opal Widiger, 82, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Chelsea Cemetery in Chelsea.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Widiger died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999 at her Seminole home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1917 in Chelsea to Walter William and Josephine (Horn) Coonfield.
A homemaker, she was the co-owner of Widiger Grocery in Chelsea for many years,
Widiger moved from Chelsea to Seminole in April, 1997.
She was married to Alfred Earnest Widiger; he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1974.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ted Coonfield.
Survivors include one son, Ted Widiger, Seminole; three daughters, Rebecca E. Jones, Tryon, Annette J. Slaughter, Haltom City, Texas and Sue Wasson, Seminole; two sisters, Fern Lawhorn, Broken Arrow and Helen Kittrell, Claremore; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
