Funeral services for Wewoka resident Essie Lucinda (Brinsfield) Davis were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Pastor Meredith Robinson was set to officiate. Burial was to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Davis died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at Shawnee Regional Hospital at the age of 86. She was born April 4, 1915 in Wewoka to Alfred A. and Mary Elizabeth (Carpenter) Brinsfield. On May 13, 1938 she married M.L. Davis May 13, 1938 in Phoenix, Ariz. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1999. Davis was a nurse’s aide at Pioneer Nursing Home and a sewing machine operator. She was a member of Nazarene in Wewoka. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Naomi Ruth Allen; brothers, Ed and Bill Brinsfield; and two sisters, Marie Burroughs and Maudie Walker. Davis is survived by one daughter, Rugena Lemons of Wewoka; two sisters, Ruth Young of Tacoma, Wash. And Elsie Chance of China Valley, Ariz.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Jenney ‘Evelyn’ Molleur
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Jenny ‘Evelyn’ (Neill) Molleur are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rev. Phil Fox is set to officiate. He is to be assisted by Eddie Neill. Burial is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Molleur died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at Muskogee Regional Hospital at the age of 77. She was born Jan. 24, 1924 in Bethel Community north of Holdenville to James Asa and Jeanetta (Westmoland) Neill. She married E.E. “Gene” Molleur on Nov. 14, 1945 in Chandler. Molleur retired from Big Yank Corporation in Wewoka. She graduated from Butner High School. She was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church and a former member of Ideal Street Baptist Church. Molleur was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Neil Molleur on Sept. 16, 1995; and six brothers. She is survived by her husband of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Loren and Syd Molleur of Andrews, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jeanne and Marion Bilbrey of Crossroads, N.M., and Maxine Bilbrey of Mertzon, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Anne Molleur of Seminole; five brothers, Grady Neill of Okmulgee, James Neill of San Antonio, Texas; Homer Neill of Seminole, and Olen and Donom Neill, both of Wewoka; two sisters, Fay Bibb of Flower Mound, Texas and Allie Mae Mayfield of McCowen, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Neil Molleur Scholarship Fund at Seminole State College. Casket bearers are Phil Neill, Ace Neill, Eddie Neill, Teddy Neill, Kenny Bibb, James Bibb, Butch Taylor, Bill Kendred, and Mike Bilbee.
Jean Pfeiffer
Funeral services for lifelong Maud area resident Jean (Holt) Hamm Pfeiffer are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud. Rev. Gene Teel is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home. Pfeiffer died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee at the age of 76. She was born Oct. 11, 1925 in Hazel to Henry and Beulah (Layton) Holt. On Oct. 18, 1946 she married R.F. Hamm in Ray City. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1984. She then married Rudy Pfeiffer on July 2, 1990 in Seminole. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2000. Pfeiffer owned and operated Hamm’s Dry Cleaners/Laundry. Hamm’s Dry Cleaners opened in the late 1940’s and then added a self-service laundry in the early 1950’s. The dry cleaning business was closed in the 1970’s but the Hamms continued to run the laundry until 1982. Pfeiffer then went to work for Goss Dry Goods as a sales clerk and worked there until the closing of the dry goods store in 1988. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Maud. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one sister, Verna Jackson; and two brothers, Ernest Holt and Layton Holt. Pfeiffer is survived by one son, James Hamm of Mustang; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hugh Holt of Hugoton, Kans. And Harold Holt of Lubbock, Texas.

Funeral services for Jean Hamm Pfeiffer are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud. Pfeiffer died this morning at Mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee. Further information is pending with the funeral home.
L.C. Ligon
A memorial service for Wetumka resident L.C. Ligon is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Rev. Joe D. Ligon will officiate the service under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka. Ligon died at his residence on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001 at the age of 76. He was born on Oct. 17, 1925 to Luther and Ovie (Merriman) Ligon in Holdenville. He was educated in the Limestone school area. On Nov. 23, 1945, Ligon enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on April 27th, 1947 receiving the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired as a roustabout in the Oilfield Industry in 1980. Ligon is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Dodson; one grandson, Micheal Babb; and one brother, Clifford Ligon. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Tiger of Wetumka, Betty Romine of Seminole, and Judy Wilhelm of Wewoka; two sisters, Avie Stephens of Arlington, Texas and Melva Heard of Konawa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Edward Oliver
Edward Oliver, a Bowlegs resident, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 62. He was born July 13, 1939, in Green Bay, Wis. to Elmer and Mae (Campbell) Oliver. He was self-employed. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and five sisters. He is survived by one brother, Carl Oliver of Guthrie; and two sisters, Rose Osborn and Ethal Mae McCullan, both of Decatur, Ill.
Wesley Williams
Graveside funeral services for Wesley Williams are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Whitfield is set to officiate. Williams died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 201 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 69. He was born July 7, 1932 in Shamrock, Texas to Airl Williams and Beatrice (Sherwood) Koenig. He married Lillie Angeline (Goodman) Williams Dec. 24, 1985 in Austin, Texas. Williams was an independent truck driver before he retired in 1983. He moved to Seminole from Oklahoma City in 1992. He was a veteran of the Marines during the Korean War. Williams was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Williams. He is survived by his wife of the home; and one daughter, Julie K. Honorary bearers are Dana Edding and Bill Plop.
Benjamin Williams
Graveside funeral services for Seminole native Benjamin H. Williams were held today at Maple Grove Cemetery. Williams died Dec. 2, 2001 in the Good Samaritan Village in Hobbs, N.M. at the age of 71. He was born Oct. 28, 1930 in Seminole to J.T.J. and Myrtle Williams. He was preceded in death by he parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Williams is survived by two sisters, Ruby South of Blanchard and Noel N. Lovell of Waukomis. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Anna Payne
Funeral services for Wewoka native Anna Payne are scheduled for noon Thursday at First Baptist Church of Wewoka. Rev. L.R. Drinkwater is to officiate. Burial is to follow at Cudjo Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary. Payne died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 83. She was born Oct. 27, 1918 in the Nobletown Community in Wewoka to Lawson Wortham and Lula Charles. She was a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, treasurer, president of the mission, and financial secretary. Payne was an Eastern Star and belonged to Vernon C. Brooks #146 of Wewoka. She was Past Matron of Vernon C. Brooks #146 and was a member of Eastern Star Union District Association where she served as president of the women’s department and treasurer. She also served in the women’s department of the general Baptist State Convention. Payne was employed by Dr. Robert W. King for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lee Crockett; and one sister, Corine Thomas. She is survived by one son, Larry Payne of Shawnee; four brothers, Jim Nutt Sr., Andrew Crockett, Elmer Crockett Sr., and Bud Crockett, all of Wewoka; one sister, Polly Gentry of Wewoka; and four grandchildren.
James John Powell
Wake services for Seminole resident James John Powell are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001 at Many Springs Baptist Church in Holdenville. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at Many Springs Baptist Church. Revs. Frank Moppin and Thomas Roughface will officiate the services. Burial will follow at the Powell Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Powell died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 63. He was born to John Powell and Judy Mae (Jackson) Walker on June 24, 1938 in Holdenville. Powell married Clara Jane (Tims) on Jan. 16, 1960 in Oklahoma City. He moved to Seminole 15 years ago from Shawnee, and retired in 1992 as mechanic for the City of Shawnee. Powell was a former member of the OKC Pow-Wow Club; and Kiowa Warrior Descendents. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Jane Powell; and his father, John Powell. Powell is survived by his mother, Judy Walker; his stepfather, Robert Walker; three sons, Dennis J. Powell and Ronnie L. Powell, both of the home and Darrell W. Powell, Shawnee; five daughters, Theresa Ahgoom, Holdenville, Mary L. Bowers, Oklahoma City, Vanessa J. Powell, Brenda S. Powell, and Helen Winrow, all of Seminole; and 13 grandchildren. Casketbearers are Fred Standing, Earl Plumley, Fredrick Lewis, Michael Timms, Bunny Powell, and Donny Powell. Honorary bearers are Wayne Edgemon, Jason Bender, Carl Squire, Chris Powell, and Tuffy Pigeon.
Tammie King
STILLWATER – Funeral services for former Seminole resident Tammie Renee King are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Strode Chapel. Pastor Jerry D. Dockery and Mike Wood of the Church of Christ are set to officiate. Interment is to follow at Resthaven in Seminole under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. A prayer service at Strode is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday. King died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 37. She was born June 23, 1964 in Seminole to Kenneth King and Wynona Wood Harjo. She attended Putnam City West High School in Bethany. When King graduated, she received a basketball scholarship to Bacone College in Muskogee. She then went to Rogers State in Claremore before graduating from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. with a degree in Business Management. She worked for Shaw Gulf Oil Company for 13 years and worked for A1 Bail Bondsman for four years. King was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her mother and father, both of Seminole; one brother, Bryant Keith Douthit of Meeker; one step-sister, Brandy Harjo of Seminole; two stepbrothers, Tim and Stacy Harjo, both of Seminole. Pallbearers are Jack Bays, Kevin Jones, Stan Dunbar, Dickie Schultz, Greg Webb, and Jim Brewer. Honorary bearers are Greg Chilcoat, Russ Wood, Don Woolridge, Danny Wood, Kip Whitekiller, Tim Harjo, Stacy Harjo, Troy Korena and Larry Chilcoat.
Marshall Justice
Funeral service for former Wewoka business owner Marshall L. ‘Catline’ Justice are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Holdenville. Revs. Meredith Robinson and Doyle Clenney will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Services of Holdenville. Justice died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 82. He was born to Mary Elizabeth (Hix) Justice and Claude Justice on March 8, 1919 in Dustin. Justice’s father worked in the oilfield, so his boyhood years were spent in various locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas. After attending many and varied schools in the region, his school years were completed at Bowlegs. At the age of 16, Marshall owned and operated his own successful ice delivery business in Wewoka in 1935. Justice married Bonnie Hudson on Oct. 28, 1939 in Meeker . He began drilling in the oilfield at age 21, with his career interrupted in 1943 by World War II. Justice served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Sergeant overseeing prisoners of war, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. After his military service, he returned to oilfield drilling until 1957, when he went to work for Chapman Oil Company located east of Holdenville, and at the same time established his own business, The Justice Shop. Justice retired from his business in 1982, but continued to work as a rancher and oilfield pumper until he was 79 years old, officially retiring in 1998. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Holdenville, where he served as Deacon for more than 40 years. He also served as president of the Baptist Brotherhood Association, and was a charter member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of the American Legion. Justice was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Justice; his wife, Bonnie Justice; his sister, Mary Burr; and two infant sons. He is survived by one son, Ron Justice, Holdenville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jason Jackson, Wayne Justice, Larry Scroggins, Jack Barrett, Darrell Smith, George Massad, and Art Garner. Honorary bearers are Richard O’Donley, Richard Humphrey, Aubrie Benham, Steve Kennedy, Jack Holmes and Bill Robinson.
