Funeral services for Regina P. Stabler, daughter of Wewoka residents Robert and Pauline Stewart, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Shawnee. Revs. Bill Barnett and Boyd W. Cummings will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Stabler died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2001 at the age of 48 as a result of a fall at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the island of Hawaii. She was born to Robert W. Stewart, Sr. and Pauline H. (Herrod) Stewart on March 28, 1953 in Los Angeles, Calif. Stabler grew up and attended school in Tujunga, Calif. Stabler graduated from Seminole Junior College in 1985, and from East Central University in 1988 receiving a bachelor of science degree in Nursing. She was a nurse commander with the Indian Health Services, U.S. Public Health Services with approximately 10 years of service. She married Hollis D. Stabler on Aug. 11, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nev. Stabler had lived in Tecumseh since 1999, and prior to that she had lived in Seminole for approximately nine years. She was a member of the Indian Nations Baptist Church of Seminole. Stabler is survived by her husband, Hollis, of the home; two sons, Sam Caruso, Shawnee, and Jesse Caruso, Norman; one daughter, Lydia Caruso, Shawnee; two step-daughters, Valita Stabler, Durango, Colo., and Rosette Stabler, Omaha, Neb.; one stepson, Simmon Oberwetter, Omaha, Neb.; her parents, Robert and Pauline Stewart, Wewoka; two brothers, Joseph Stewart, Wewoka, and Robert Stewart, Jr., Lancaster, Calif.; two sisters, Darlene Henneah, Wewoka, and Alberta Morrow, Sunland, Calif.; and three grandchildren. A wake service will take place at the Seminole Indian Nations Baptist Church from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Woodrow Fite
Graveside services for Woodrow W. Fite, father of Seminole resident Evelyn Willingham, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Prague Cemetery. The services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague. Fite died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 in Shawnee at the age of 84. He was born to Leamon and Lula Myrtle (Sexton) Fite on July 15, 1917 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Fite married Violet Lorane Love on Jan. 27, 1942 in Eakley. He was a retired farmer. Fite was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers; and five sisters. He is survived by two sons, Charles Fite, Paden, and Steven Fite, Charleston, Ark.; two daughters, Evelyn Willingham, Seminole, and Ellen White, Choctaw; one brother, Pete Fite, Oxnard, Calif.; one sister, Juanita Decker, Crowley, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
Larry Gentry
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Larry Gentry are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. Minister Billy Jack will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada. Gentry died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at a McAlester hospital at the age of 53. He was born to Clyde Gentry and Gloria Smith on Aug. 15, 1948 in Sherman, Texas. Gentry was a graduate of Seminole High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in education from East Central University. He lived in the Seminole and the Ada area until five years ago, then moving to the McAlester area. Gentry was of Baptist faith, and was a former Vice President of “Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.” He was also former Executive Director of Kiamichi Country and former Executive Director of the Boy Scouts of America. Gentry is survived by his companion, Ruth Sanders, of the home; one daughter, Tammy Sellers, Ada; one son, Larry “Brent” Gentry, Antlers; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers are Steve Brinker, Mike McCreary, Jeremy Sellers, Johnny Boring, and Larry “Brent” Gentry, Jr.
Edytha Banks
Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Edytha Banks are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery. Rev. Mike Dershem will officiate the service. Banks died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 71. She was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Duncan. Banks married Roy J. Banks, Jr., on June 27, 1948 in Seminole. The couple moved to Andrews, Texas in 1966 from Chanute, Kan. Banks worked for the city of Andrews for many years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Midland, Texas, and attended the Ladies Bible Study at First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. Banks was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; one son, Roger S. Banks, San Angelo, Texas; and one grandson.
Charles Pearce
Funeral services for Seminole resident Charles “Bo” Edward Pearce are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Strothers Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. David Karges will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Pearce died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at his home in Seminole at the age of 73. He was born to Fred Baker Pearce and Marjorie (Davidson) Pearce on Aug. 22, 1928 in Seminole County. Pearce lived in Seminole most of his life, and was a 1946 graduate of Seminole High School. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in the mid 1980’s, and was a veteran of the Oklahoma Army National Guard 45th Division serving in Korea. Pearce was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Warren Pearce in 1972, and Jack Burton Pearce in 1996. He is survived by two children, Charles, Jr. and Susan; and one sister, Martha Jane Nash, Dallas, Texas.
Elmer Horn
Funeral services for Seminole resident Elmer Perry Horn are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Fellowship Church. Revs. Danny Fisher and Jim Hutton will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Horn died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 63. He was born to George and Vadeus Shuey (Searat) Horn on May 31, 1938 in Claremore. He married Virginia Irene Horn on Oct. 24, 1979 I Shawnee. Horn moved to Seminole from Tecumseh in 1986, and was a retired truck driver, as well as deacon of his church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Horn is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Horn in 1984; and one grandson, Daniel Hyden in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; four sons, David Horn, Madill, Roger Hyden, Kaufman, Texas, John Hyden, Del City, and Larry Hyden, Seminole; two daughters, Patricia Gibson, Seminole, and Pam Nicholson, Mena, Ark.; two brothers, George Horn, Parkville, Mo., and Terry Shuey, Muldrow; two sisters, Nadine Campbell, Nicut, and Donna Minden, Ft. Smith, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Casket bearers are David Horn, Roger Hyden, Russell Gibson, Terry Shuey, John Hyden, Robert Nicholson, and Mike Scheller.
Nellie Thompson
Funeral services for Seminole resident Nellie Faye Thompson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Primrose Funeral Chapel in Norman. Revs. Doyle Long and David Long will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Lilac Hills Cemetery in Moore, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. Thompson died Sunday in Seminole at the age of 71. She was born to Otto McKinley and Gertie Mae (Jett) Rhodes in Clio, W. Va., on Nov. 28, 1929. Thompson lived in Newcastle for approximately eight years before moving to Seminole in 1978. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole, and was employed with Western Electric in Oklahoma City for 10 years and then worked for Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Loyd Thompson; one daughter, Connie Joetta Thompson; one son, Thomas Neil Thompson; and her father, Otto McKinley Rhodes. She is survived by her mother, Gertie Mae Bevel, W. Va.; one son, Kelly Thompson, Guam; three daughters, Donna Richmond, Moore, Cheryl Klimkoski, Moore, and Shirley Thompson, Ada; one brother, Coy Rhodes; five sisters, Mary Ann Lowery, Ft. Worth, Texas, Barbara Kessinger, Seminole, Janet Holbet, Ohio, June McCune, W. Va., and Betty Belcher, Seminole; eight grandchildren and four and one-half great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joseph Klimkoski, Jon Matlock, Jayme Klimkoski, Trey Parker, Nathan Richmond, and Mike Belcher.
Alma Martin
Funeral services for Seminole resident Alma Rosetta (Walker) Martin are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rev. Steve Cline and Jim Waller will officiate. Burial is set to follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Martin died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001 in Seminole at the age of 87. She was born Dec. 9, 1913 in Maud to Robert Lee and Nelia Ethel (Rogers) Walker. She married Byron R. Martin Oct. 30, 1936 in Seminole. Martin was a homemaker and the cafeteria director at Pleasant Grove School. She retired in 1976. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Letha. Martin graduated from Central School and was named to the AllState Basketball team. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother; one son, William Lee Martin; and one granddaughter, Gena Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, of the home; two sons, Charles “Shot” Martin, of Okemah, and Tommy Martin, of Seminole; three daughters, Doris Roberts, of Alva, Sue Parsons, of Seminole, and Mary Gates, of Tecumseh; one sister, Lois Tucker, of Maud; and 14 grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Barry Roberts, Ken Roberts, Charlie Martin, Travis Gates, Kirk Gates, and Barry Bennett.
Jessie Dice
Jessie A. Dice was born on Sept. 27, 1909 in Mellette. She passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at the Wewoka Nursing Center at the age of 92. Survivors are three daughters, Julia Dice of Cushing, Betty Walker of Shawnee, and Sue and Ronald Wyrick of Shawnee; four grandsons, Kenneth Walker of Ardmore, Brent Walker of Bozeman, Mont., Mark Wyrick of Seminole, and James Wyrick of Norman; two great-granddaughters; one stepgreat-granddaughter; three great-grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on Nov. 15, 1995; her parents and thirteen brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Dwight Gonzales will officiate the services.
Donald Rundle
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Donald Leon Rundle are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home. Bill Mathews, Larry Goins and Phil Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Rundle died Friday in Shawnee at the age of 85. He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Monett, Mo., to Benjamin and Alice Rundle. He lived in Springfield, Mo., until 1929 when he moved to Seminole. He attended Seminole High School, where he played football and basketball and graduated in 1934. He also played football and basketball while attending Conner State College. Until 1943, Rundle was employed by Cabot Carbon Co., as a plant operator. He then joined Sinclair Oil and Gas, which later merged with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company. He retired from ARCO in 1978 as a senior gas tester. He married Lorene Dawn Byrne of Orr on Oct. 7, 1936. She died in 1988. He was also preceded in death by his father in 1944; his mother in 1990; his brother, Roland Rundle in 1961; and his sister, Ruby Robertson, in 1985. Rundle was transferred to San Angelo, Texas, in 1959, and returned to Seminole upon retirement in 1982. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee. He married Johnnie “Jackie” Henderson of Shawnee on Sept. 4, 1990. She survives him, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Larry D. Rundle, Hooker, and Douglas A. Rundle, Seminole; one stepdaughter, Thixe Kay Totty, Shawnee; seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Eugene Johnson
Funeral services for Seminole County church member Rev. Eugene Albert Johnson are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. T.J. Fixico and Rev. Billy Barnett will officiate. Burial is set to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. A wake service is scheduled for Sunday evening at Indian Nations Church. Johnson died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 at the age of 71. He was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Shawnee to Steve Johnson and Jane (Johnson) Davis. He graduated from Dale High School in 1949 and attended one year of college at Oklahoma City University. Johnson was employed with the International Paper Company in Oklahoma City. He also worked for HGP Company for 20 years. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served 36 months in the Korean War with the 332nd Engineer Aviation Battalion Company. Johnson was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and Indian Nation Baptist Church. He served as a deacon at Snake Creek Indian Baptist Church #2 in Seminole. He served as a minister at Riverside Indian Baptist Church in Tecumseh. Johnson was an ADD volunteer chaplain at Cooper Memorial Mission in McLoud and chaplain at Carl Albert Indian Health Service in Ada. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jackie Johnson and Bobby Johnson; one grandson and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Lois Johnson, of the home; nine sons, Ronnie Johnson, Steve Johnson, Walter Johnson, and Leam Johnson, all of Shawnee, Grayling Johnson and Joe Johnson, both of Tecumseh, George Johnson, of Blanchard, and Bruce Johnson, of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Vera Vaccaro, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; 39 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlene Stoliby, of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Wilbur Lee Johnson, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Tillman Johnson, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Delbert Johnson, of Oklahoma City.
Ronald Stailey
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Ronald Ira “Popeye” Stailey are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Burial is set to follow at Cooper Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Stailey died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He was born in Earlsboro but grew up in Seminole. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class in 1979. While in the service, Stailey fought in Vietnam, served as a drill instructor, and was in the intelligence field when he retired. Following his retirement, he was a diesel tractor mechanic. He was a life member of VFW Post 3619 and the American Legion Post 27, both of DeRidder. Stailey is survived by his wife, Janie Stailey, of DeRidder, La.; two sons, Ronald Stailey, Brookhaven, Miss. and Bobby Stailey, Jackson, Miss.; one daughter, Melissa Ann Elliott, DeRidder, La.; one stepdaughter, Cherie Spicer, of DeRidder, La.; one brother, Donald Stailey, of Moss Bluff, La.; two sisters, Mary Jane Hampton, of Valley Center, Kans., and Frances Delois Morris, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
