Jack Elliott (Tod) Gordon, who practiced law in his native Claremore more than five decades, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004.
A memorial service, under direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, where he had been an elder and deacon.
Born January 1, 1917 in the family home on the corner of 4th and Seminole, he was delivered by his father, Minor Henry Gordon, one of Claremore’s earliest physicians. His mother was Pearl Elliott, a registered nurse his father met working at a hospital in Missouri.
Growing up on the eastern edge of Claremore, he rode his pony to Hiawatha Elementary School. He graduated from Claremore High School and earned a law degree at the University of Arkansas. His father died before he went to college and he and his older brother, Minor, who earned his degree in medicine at the University of Arkansas, made their college money doing custom harvesting with two stead powered threshing machines.
Gordon was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1940. His first job was assistant district attorney for the late Judge H. P. Daugherty.
He joined the Army in 1941 and was commissioned as a captain after completion of Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. He deployed to Europe with the 77th Division (the Lightning Division) in 1943, serving in the Division Headquarters as the Assistant G-3. That Division was involved in heavy fighting in France and Germany until VE-Day in 1945.
He was married May 29, 1942 to the former Janelle Stallings, who died in 1994.
After the war, he returned to Claremore and began practicing law. He and G. Raymond Bassmann formed a partnership. In 1976, he and his son, Jack Jr., formed Gordon & Gordon, where he remained a partner until his death.
Gordon was active in the Bar Association, serving on the Board of Governors.
He was the original chairman of the Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority board, housing subdivision developer and developed Verdigris Industrial Park. He originated a Foyil School Entrepreneur Program.
The brothers Gordon inherited not only their father’s imposing stature, but his compassion for the Claremore community and its people and love of the land. He traveled the world fishing.
Jack was also preceded in death by his brother, M.E. Gordon, M.D.
Survivors are four sons, Jack Jr. and his wife Elise of Claremore, Mike and his wife Needra of Broken Arrow, Todd of Boston, Mass., and P.S. (Pat) of New York City; grandchildren, Casey Gordon Gaudet and her husband Derek, of Frisco, Texas, Jacob Gordon and his wife Amy of Claremore, Stephanie Brasel and her husband Ben of Broken Arrow, Melissa Kindt and her husband Alan of Stillwater, and Emily Gordon and her fiancee Mike Ferrell of Winston Salem, N.C.; sister-in-law Terry Stallings and her sons, Jack of Claremore and David of Tulsa and Minor’s sons, Minor William of Claremore and Elliott of Tulsa; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial service for Kenneth D. “K.D.” Anderson will be held at the Chelsea Funeral Home 1:00 p.m Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
Mr. Anderson passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the Colonial Care Center in Chelsea at the age of 71.
The son of Kenneth Anderson and Clara Hurst Edmondson was born April 3, 1933 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was raised in rural Oklahoma near the town of Old Alluwe. He attended Old Alluwe School before transferring to OMA (Oklahoma Military Academy) his junior year. In 1951 he became one of the high school graduates of OMA. He continued his education at OMA taking two years of college. In January of 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served his country for 8 years before being discharged in March of 1962. After his discharge he lived a short time in Nebraska, before settling in Topeka, Kansas. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, starting as a mail carrier, and later being promoted to supervisor. In 1991 he retired at the age of 58. After his retirement he began traveling and spending time with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed attending OMA reunions, going to casinos and visiting his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Dave and Ethel Coble, and his parents Kenneth Anderson and Clara Edmondson.
Survivors include his sisters, Kathy Girten and husband Bob of Chelsea, and Pam Henry and Husband Darrell of Bartlesville.
Mary Nelle Anglen

Memorial service for Mary Nelle Anglen will be 2 p.m., Wed., Oct. 6, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Crawford officiating.
Mary Nelle died Sun., Oct. 3, 2004, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 88.
The daughter of Jesse James and Leta (Knox) Worthington was born April 17, 1916, in Weleetka, OK. She grew up in Weleetka, and later moved to Joplin, MO, where she graduated from high school in 1934. Mary Nelle attended business college in Joplin. On Feb. 19, 1939, she married Clem Henry Anglen. During WWII Mary Nelle worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army. In 1974, Mary Nelle and Clem moved to Claremore. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and a past president of the United Methodist Women’s organization. Mary Nelle enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, giving and receiving cards, and spending time with her dog, Pirate Patch.
Mary Nelle is survived by her daughter, Melanie Gillmore and husband, Jim of Claremore; brother, Jim Worthington and wife, Betty of Auburn, AL; granddaughters: Mandy Sanders and husband, Russ of Tulsa, and Suzy DeCoux of Claremore; great-grandchildren: Robby Sanders of Tulsa, and Brittney DeCoux of Claremore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; and her sister, Virginia Allen; and her parents.
Leland Floyd Alford

Funeral service for Leland “Fat” Alford will be 11 a.m., Sat., Nov. 20, at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Entombment with military honors will be held at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Leland died Fri., Nov. 12, at the age of 82.
Leland "Fats" Alford was born to Joseph and Charlotte Burgess Alford in Mayes County, Oklahoma on July 30,1922. He attended schools in Chouteau and Wagoner. He was drafted into the military and served in the U.S. Army in Italy during World War II and lost a limb fighting for our country in 1945.
While in the Army he received the Victory Good Conduct Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, a Bronze Campaign Star and a Purple Heart.
After he was discharged from the service, he moved to Claremore to be near his parents where he worked for Rogers County Bank. Upon leaving the bank he became an independent hauler until his health failed.
Leland was an avid fisherman and loved the Casino.
His parents, seven sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn: one son Dennis of Rancho Palace Verde, Calif., one daughter of Texas, one brother Clarence of Las Vegas, Nevada, three grandchildren Ledene Charlotte Alford, Nita Doakes Alfred, and Roderick Doakes Alford all of Tulsa, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike died Fri., June 11, 2004, at the age of 26 and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He was named for and preceded in death by his father, Michael Eugene, Jan. 16, 2004.
He was the youngest child of Michael Eugene and Linda Kay (Schritter) Alberty born March 26, 1976, in Pryor. Everyone fondly called him “Mikey”. He grew up and attended school in Claremore where he participated and excelled in wrestling, soccer, and football. He loved and was always proud of his children. He liked fishing and playing pool. He worked as a concrete finisher most of his adult life. He had a wonderful sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. He loved joking around and making everyone laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Brandie of the home; children, Michael, Gage, and Jayce Alberty of the home; mother and step-father, Linda and Bryan Holstrom of Troutdale, OR; brother, Bucky Will Alberty of Claremore; sister, Lanette Michelle Alberty of Claremore; grandparents, Jessie and Jimmie “Sarge” Shields; aunts and uncles, Bill and Bobbie Alberty of Inola, and Jim and Annette Diggs of Topeka, KS; and many more relatives that loved him and will miss him.
