Elizabeth Johnson

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Elizabeth Johnson are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Rev. Robert Kernell, Rev. Sam Horse, and Rev. Kelly Tiger will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the family homeplace, the Henry F. Johnson cemetery, under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Johnson died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001 at the Ranchwood Nursing Home in Yukon at the age of 87. She was born to Steve and Ahia Beeson on May 8, 1914 in Second Mesa, Ariz. Johnson was reared in the Sunlight Mission Baptist Church and later moved to Wewoka in 1938. She married Henry Frank Johnson on Nov. 6, 1938. Johnson was a member of the Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Wewoka. She taught Sunday school for the youth and the adult groups for many years, and served as deacon, and was also a member of the Women’s Society. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Vern Johnson and Donnie Johnson; four brothers, David, Hugh, Paul, and Clarence Beeson; and one sister Margaret Campbell. She is survived by three daughters, Verbena McMath, Rapid City, S.D., Margaret Levi, Yukon, and Diana Hallock, Shawnee; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are J.R. Colbert, James Charley, Shawn McMath, David Hallock, and Richard Campbell.

Lola Davidson

Funeral services for Seminole resident Lola Davidson are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Hilltop Assembly of God Church in Earlsboro. Pastor Dwayne Bobbitt officiated the service. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Davidson died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001 in Seminole. She was born to Ola and Please Lindsay on July 20, 1916 in Seminole. Davidson was raised on a farm in Earlsboro where she rode a horse to school. Davidson married Clinton Davidson and then moved to Seminole where they lived the rest of their lives except for a brief period in New Mexico. Davidson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Loretta Rowell, Marie Shepherd, Ann Rodriguez and Pearl Sikes; her brothers, Please Jr., Buddy and Troy Lindsay; and two infant granddaughters, Laurie Davidson and Beverly Gonzales. Davidson is survived by her children, Darryl and Lillie Davidson, Carolyn and Pete Tenorio, Doyle and Reta Davidson, Larry and Lee Davidson, Ronnie and Linda Davidson, and Sandra and Joe Houck; four sisters, Rosemary Lovett, Dora Rowell, Lillian Newby and Carol Dunham; 21 granddchildren; 25 great-granddchildren; and two great-great-grandaughters. Pallbearers are Davidson’s grandsons, Tommy Davidson, Jose Gonzales, Gary Davidson, Ronald Davidson, Ronnie Keith Davidson, and Kevin Davidson.

Elizabeth Johnson

Former Wewoka resident Elizabeth Johnson died Thursday at the Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon at the age of 87. Wake services are scheduled to be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday also at Stout Funeral Home Chapel. Revs. Robert Kernall, Sam Horse and Kelly Tiger will officiate the services. Interment will be at the family home south of Wewoka. More information will be available at a later date.

Chad Angel

Funeral services for 2001 Bowlegs graduate Chad Russell Angel are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bowlegs High School Gym. Brother Rick Hudson and Rev. Jason Yarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Lone Dove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Chad died Thursday at Stroud Hospital at the age of 18 following a traffic accident. He was born Aug. 17, 1983 in Wewoka to Randy Heard and Shanah (Williams) Angel. He worked for Tri-State Electrical Contractors. Chad graduated from Bowlegs in May of this year where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball for four years. He was team captain of the basketball team in 2000 and 2001 His basketball teams were District Champions in 1999, Bowlegs Invitational Champions in 1999, and Little River Consolation Champions in 1999. Chad was also captain of the football team in 1999 and 200. He was named All District in football in 2000 and his team was the Little River Conference Champions. He was team captain of the baseball team in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Chad was named to the Little River Conference All Star Team in 2001 and his team placed third in the Paden Tournament in 1999 and was runner-up in the Bison Classic, also in 1999. Academically, he participated in advanced placement courses. Chad is survived by his parents, of Wolf; grandparents, Melva Heard, Konawa, and Carol and Walker Kirk, Mena, Ariz.; two sisters, Christal Angel, and Amy and Bud Moore, all of Wolf; and one niece, Lani Angel, Wolf. Casket bearers will be Aaron Coker, Nick Baker, Austin Mathews, Justin Smith, Phillip Harrison, Dusty Darr and Justin Bowden, all of whom graduated with Chad.

George Dancer

Funeral services for George Dancer, 84, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at the Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Brother Reginald O. Foster will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. George died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001 at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole. George was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Little River-Ashdown, Ark., to Antee Asberry and Horace Dancer. He moved to Wewoka at the age of 12. He attended school at Johnson, north of Wewoka. George attended Christian meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wewoka for many years. George was a disabled veteran. He was inducted into the United States Army on Jan. 11, 1941 at Fort Sill and received an honorable discharge from Fort Sam Houston, Texas, on Aug. 3, 1946. He served with the 349th Field Artillery Battalion and fought in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. George was decorated with the American Defense Service Ribbon; the American Theater Campaign Ribbon; EAME Theater Campaign Ribbon, three bronze stars, good conduct medal, victory ribbon, one service stripe and two overseas service bars. He retired in 1982 from T.H. Roger Lumber Company after 30 years of dedicated service. George is preceded in death by his father and mother; cousins, Bob Lee, Fannie Lee, Lucille (Beaver) Hardin, Ruby Parker, and Roger Bruner; and one uncle, Charlie Asbury. He is survived by one stepsister, Kathryn (Jones) Dennis, cousins Beatrice M. Osborne and husband Marvin, Betty Jean Dorsett, Lucille Branch, Charles Cleo Rogers and wife Sylvia, and Dorothy Washington of Wewoka; Alma Marie Jones, Joe L. Parker, Jake Pierson, Oklahoma City; and June Bell Hardin, Washington, D.C. He leaves Alexandria McGee and Lucille Branch of the home. George will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew him, always.

Melvin ‘E.M.’ Long

Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Everett Melvin Long are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Wesley Martin will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Long died Sunday at the age of 82. He was born June 18, 1929 in Jay to Pete and Bertha Long. In 1935, he and his parents made their home in Sasakwa where he remained until his death. Long married Ima Reich on April 8, 1950. He owned and operated E.M. Trucking of Sasakwa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Long is survived by his wife, of the home; three daughters, Darline Wyrick, Holdenville, Nancy Dority, Tulsa, and Jeannie Long, Seminole; one son, Rickey Long, Cherokee, Kans.; one brother, Jim Long, Edmond; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tim Brady, Bill Brady, Don Powell, Ace Neill, Charles Sisco, and James Landreth. Honorary pallbearers will be Warnie Brady, Kenneth Brewster, Don Bryant, Millard Reich, Ivan Reich, Jack Reich, Sherman Reich, Lawrence Reich, Jerry Reich, Larry Reich, and Lester Reich.

Betty Jean Dorrough

Funeral services for Seminole resident Betty Jean Dorrough are scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Harold Turner will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Dorrough died Tuesday at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 75. She was born Jan. 12, 1926 in Indiana to Alonzo and Ruth Duckworth. She married Clifton Eugene White in 1949. Dorrough moved to Oklahoma in 1960 and married Jacob Durrough in 1972. She was a nurse’s aid at Evening Star Nursing Home in Oklahoma City and Pioneer Nursing Home. She was also a cook at Wolf School and then Wilson School before she retired in 1978. Dorrough was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sue Ann White; and one sister, Florence Malott. She is survived by three sons, Mike White, Bowlegs, Wilbur White, Wolf, and Jake Dorrough, Wolf; three daughters, Mary Elliott, Weatherford, Ellen McBroom, Asher, and Betty White, Asher; three brothers, John Duckworth, Indiana, Elmer Duckworth, Florida, and Robert Duckworth, Indiana; two sisters, Dorothy Howe and Clara Rogers, both of Indiana; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Buddy Gore, Richard Kilgore, Mike Worley, Mitch Worley, Star Veach and Tommy Monks. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Hasbell and Dwain Pitts.

Alvin Minor

Funeral services for Alvin Carlton “Buddy” Minor, brother of Wewoka resident Tony Minor, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. Burial followed at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home. Minor died Thursday Aug. 16, 2001 at the age of 61. He was born to Alvin T. Minor and Vela (Sliger) Minor on March 31, 1940 in Frisco. Minor taught at Butner School in Cromwell from 1963-1968, was principal at Carney school in Carney from 1968-1969, was principal of Kingston High School from 1969-1976, and superintendent at Roff school from 1976-1991. Minor is survived by his wife, Lynn Brantley Minor, of the home; two daughters, Cindy Minor, Arlington, Texas, and Christy L. Minor Clark, Lawton; two sisters, Reba Daniel and Barbara Langley, both of Stonewall; one brother, Tony Minor, Wewoka; and one grandson.

Reat Morris Jr.

SKIATOOK ?? Funeral services for Dr. Reat Everett Morris, Jr. were scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Osage Gardens Cemetery with Rev. M.E. Jr. Anthony of the Avant House of prayer officiating. Interment followed in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home. Morris died Saturday in the Maple Wood Care Center in Tulsa. He was born May 17, 1928 in Shawnee to Reat Everett Morris, Sr. and Edna May Conwell. He graduated from Grain Valley. Morris married Virginia Ruth McGlaughlin in Miami and they made their home in Missouri and Seminole. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1941 and received his honorable discharge in 1950. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Morris attended and taught at Cleveland Chiropractic School and opened his own practice in 1957. He retired from his practice in 1997. He was a member of several professional clubs in Missouri and Oklahoma. Morris was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother. He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Ray Morris, Tulsa; and five grandchildren. Honorary casket escorts for the service were Mary Jo Eldridge, Alta Rudluff, Jean Ervin, Sandra Pointer, Betty Hansen, Darlene Whitfield and Lena Holland.

George Dancer

Funeral services for George Dancer at scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home in Wewoka. A full obituary will follow at a later date when information is made available to the funeral home.

Alleese Lydic

Alleese Lydic, a longtime resident of Cromwell, passed away at the Pioneer Nursing Home on Aug. 17, 2001 at the age of 76. Alleese was born July 1, 1925 to Frank O. and Tina (Durham) Ritchie in Norman. She was raised in the Limestone area and attended Limestone School. In 1940 she married Luther Smith, who preceded her in death in 1976. On July 2, 1966 she married Robert Lydic in Las Vegas, Nev. Robert preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Tina Ritchie; one brother; Cecil Ritchie; four sisters, Junice Shertz, Jean Nichols, Pauline Black, and Mary Francis O’Kelly; and two great-grandsons, Jerid Sheffield and Baby Boy Wieck. Alleese is survived by two daughters, June Yahola of Cromwell and Joan Roza, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one brother, Mark Ritchie, Mo.; four sisters, Leona Nelson, Wyo., Helen Nichols and Naomi Silva, Calif., and Margie Dodge, Ore. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. Pallbearers for Alleese will be her grandsons, Robert and Kevin Wieck and Monty Rosa and great-grandson Joshua Sheffield. Robert Newman and Larry Koons will also be pallbearers. Alleese enjoyed her Sunday School class so much at the Cromwell First Baptist Church where she was a member for over 14 years. Until the last few years she was an extremely busy lady who loved to fish and hunt. She also enjoyed making quilts for grandchildren and crocheting for her home and loved ones. She was one very special and sassy lady. Her quick wit and ready smile will be sorely missed. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cromwell First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Brother Jack DeWitt. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Bonnie Graham

Funeral services for Konawa resident Bonnie May Graham were schedule for 2 p.m. today at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Richard Winters officiated. Burial followed at Konawa Cemetery. Graham died Sunday at Ballard Nursing Home in Ada at the age of 74. She was born July 18, 1927 in Blanchard to W.M. and Emma Mae Buchannan. She married Gilbert Graham in Oklahoma City on Nov. 24, 1948. Graham was retired from the Sunshine Biscuit Company. She spent most of her life in Kansas and moved to Konawa in 1981. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Konawa. Graham is survived by one son, Gordon Lee Graham, Kansas City, Kans.; three brothers, Floyd Buchannan, Konawa, Ernest Buchannan, Bowlegs, and B.W. Buchannan, Bowlegs; one sister, Ethel Mar Lambright, Centerville, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Skip Lambright, Randy Lester, Kenny Woods, Denver Merrell, Bob Sanders, Gordon Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Cole and Ben Reeves.
