Funeral services for Holdenville resident Hazel Lorine (Taylor) Adkins, 83, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Bryant will officiate. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Adkins died Friday July 27, 2001, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. She was born to Lester Lee Bryant and Maggie (Stout) Bryant on June 4, 1918 in Wewoka. Adkins lived in Shawnee and then moved to Holdenville where she has resided for the past 34 years. She was a nurses’ aide and a home health care worker, retiring in 1991. Adkins was a member of the Seminole and Wewoka Rebekah Lodge and a member of Holdenville Ladies Auxiliary. She married J.C. “Cecil” Taylor in May 1937. He preceded her in death in November 1976. She married Tom Adkins in May 1962. He preceded her in death in July 1974. Adkins is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Glenda (Williams) Venis; one brother, Mitchell Bryant; one sister, Ruth Gore; and one great-grandchild, Jaci Kanard. She is survived by three sons, James Taylor, Seminole, Clifton Taylor, Wewoka and J.C. Taylor, Seminole; one daughter, Susie Brittain, Holdenville; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Andrew Narcomey
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Andrew Ray Narcomey are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dorsey Nero officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Narcomey died Wednesday, July 25th at Midwest City Regional Medical Center at the age of 84. He was born to Peter James Cheparaney and Lucy (Stamp) Narcomey in Seminole County on Aug. 1, 1916. Narcomey lived in Seminole County until 1952, then lived in Del City from 1956 until his death. He worked in the oilfield industry and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Narcomey attended Central Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, and was founder of Indian league softball in the Oklahoma City area. He married Susie Kinney who preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1984. Narcomey was also preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Hamblin, Shawnee; two foster daughters, Kristi Morris, Tulsa, and Agnes Webster, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Phillip Narcomey, Lawton, and Paul Narcomey, Salt Lake, Utah; one sister, Wisey Narcomey, Bowlegs; four grandchildren; one foster grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
Eugene Pitts
Graveside funeral services for Seminole resident Eugene S. Pitts are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Garden under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Robertson will officiate. Pitts died Thursday at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 73. He was born Aug. 11, 1927 to Ollem and Filena Pitts in Seminole. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division. He did eight combat jumps and received a purple heart. Pitts also served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1992. He married Martha Shaw on Jan. 30, 1963 in Miami. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Pitts was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; four sons, Bill Willson, York, Penn., Bob Willson, Seminole, John Pitts, Fort Worth, Texas, and Paul Pitts, Seminole; one brother, Dudley Pitts, Hennessey; three sisters, Lois Brown, Hennessey, Billie Sterns, Modesta, Calif., and Dorothy Adams, Webbers Falls; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Wilma Rogers
Funeral services for Seminole resident Wilma Jean Rogers are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill. Larry Holder will officiate. Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. Rogers died Monday, July 23, 2001 at Coal County at the age of 52. She was born July 29, 1948 in DeQueen, Ark. to Willie and Alma Jackson. She graduated from Sallisaw High School before attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry in 1976. Rogers spent most of her career in the employment of the Choctaw Nation and recently worked for the Seminole Nation in Wewoka. She was a longtime resident of Bryan County but was living in Seminole at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jim and Kenneth Jackson. Rogers is survived by her husband, Bill Rogers, Hugo; one son, Justin Robinson, Mead; and nine grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Walter White, Jack Ferguson, Larry Finch, Hoppy Denison, Mark Rogers, Billy Jo Jackson and Clinton Rogers.

Betty Jean Wheat
Our Little Mama went home to be with her Lord on July 24, 2001 at her home in Seminole with her husband and children by her side. She was 69 years young. She was born to Earl and Evelyn (Stephens) Menie on April 6, 1932 in Webbers Falls on the banks of the Arkansas River. As a youngster, she picked cotton to help out. She had one sister Geraldine (Menie) Mullins. Betty married Derril Larue (Pat) Wheat on Oct. 23, 1951 in Van Buren, Ark. They were married almost 50 years. Together they had nine children, six girls and three boys. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Derril Jean. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Patty and Jerry Burns, Peggy Haworth and her late husband, Eddie, Patsy and Rick Haworth, Frankie and Danny Mize, Earl and Laura Wheat, Brenda and Eddie Johnson, Joann Wheat, Darren and Khristy Wheat, all of Seminole County. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Omalee Jerrard. Betty had 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nephews. Granny was a homemaker all her life. She was always happiest when she had a baby to cuddle. She and Pat loved to go to flea markets, garage sales and down to the river at Webbers Falls to camp and fish. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; David Haworth, Danny Mize, Eric Haworth, Pat Wheat, Kris Parker and Shannon Johnson. Honorary bearers will be more grandsons; Thomas Wheat, Timothy Wheat, Ross Mize, Mike Melton, Chris Yancey, Kurtis Loftis and friends Henrey Seeley and Aaron McCoy. Services will be Thursday, July 26th at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Wanna Williams
Funeral services for Seminole resident Wanna Raggé Williams are scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church with Minister David McDougal officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Williams died Monday in Seminole at the age of 64. She was born to Dan and Bernice Richardson in Ponotoc County on Nov. 19, 1936. Williams graduated from Varnum High School and attended Seminole Junior College. She married Jim Williams on April 3, 1982. Before her retirement, Williams was employed as a bookkeeper at Resthaven Memorial Park. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, where she was church librarian, and president of the Women’s Auxillary. Williams was past president of the Shawnee BPW, and was also active with her sons in Demolay, a high school business organization. She is preceded in death by her father. Williams is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; her mother, Bernice Richardson, Seminole; four sons, Mike Williams, Guthrie, Gerald Raggé, Canton, Ohio, Joseph Raggé, Tulsa, and Mike Raggé, Grapevine, Texas; one daughter, Frena Hokans, Waterberry, Conn; three sisters, Ina Jean McQueen, Muskogee, Alpha Young, Seminole, and Deanna Armstrong, Stillwater; two brothers, Will Richardson, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Vic Richardson, Seminole; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Birdie Latham
Graveside services for Maud resident Birdie Latham are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Latham died Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the age of 90. She was a homemaker who lived all of her life in the Konawa area. She is survived by her special friends, Edward and Debra Heard of Konawa.
Lawrence Wiley
Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Lawrence Ray Wiley are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Garden under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Anderson will officiate. Wiley died Sunday, July 22, 2001 at his residence in Lone Grove at the age of 89. He was born Sept. 9, 1911 in Mill Creek to George and Alice Wiley. He married Betty Oliver on June 25, 1955 in Wewoka. She preceded him in death June 5, 1995. Wiley was raised in the Connerville-Regan area and went to school in Connerville. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Burma and India during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he moved back to Regan for a year and then moved to Wewoka. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base on an assembly line until retirement in 1974. Wiley moved to Lone Grove in April to live with his nephew Charles Massey where he lived until his death. He is survived by two stepdaughters, Mary Bryiley, Woodward, and Barbra Cheeks, Amarillo, Texas; and three stepgrandchildren.
Wyoma Grose
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Wyoma B. Cole Grose were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. John Elliott and Rev. David Karges will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Grose died Saturday at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 91. She was born Jan. 18, 1910 in Springfield, Ark. to James and Myrtle Berry. She married James Cole in 1926. He preceded her in death in 1955. She married Eudie Grose in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1988. Grose began her teaching career in 1929 in Konawa. She taught in several schools in Arkansas and then in Meeker. In 1954 she began teaching second grade at Wilson Elementary. She also owned Mode O'Day Dress Shop from 1956-1962. She retired in 1975. Grose was a member of First United Methodist Church and past President of American Association of University Women. She was a past member of B.P.W. and was a member of O.E.A. and Delta Kappa Gamma. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from East Central University in Ada. Grose was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and one sister, Aphra LaValle Yarbrough. She is survived by one son, Don Cole, Shawnee; one stepson, Joe Grose, Balko; two step daughters, Margaret Sadler, Landers, Wyo. and Alma Lynn Collar of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Seminole resident Betty Wheat are pending with Swearingen Funeral Home. Wheat died at her home Tuesday morning at the age of 69.
