Eva Mae Patterson

Funeral services for Konawa resident Eva Mae (Edwards) Patterson are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 2 at First Baptist Church in Konawa with the Rev. Charley Henthorn officiating. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home. She died Friday at the age of 78. Patterson was born Jan. 16, 1923 in Roland to William and Iva Belle Edwards. She married Marvin Patterson in Talihina on June 19, 1940. She was a Stanley Home Products employee for 42 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa. Patterson was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Brewer, Wanda Moore and Alma Crane, and one brother, Charles Edwards. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Patterson, Konawa; three sons, Marvin Patterson, Konawa, Brad Patterson, Midwest City, and John Patterson, Denton, Texas; one brother, Billy Joe Edwards, Oklahoma City; and three sisters Agness Brown, Konawa, Nancy Woods, Maysville and Patsy Whitehead, Fairhope, Ala. Pallbearers will be Tim Coffey, Randall Brewer, Nathan Graves, Archie Moore, Wayne Brown and Doug Harryman.

Alma Green

Funeral services for Konawa resident Alma Lee Green were scheduled for Saturday at Pickard Chapel with the Rev. Ed George officiating. Burial will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home. Green died Wednesday, June 27 at the age of 69. She was born July 4, 1931 to Ben and Claudia Mullins in Prue. She married Harvey Green in Torrance, Calif. on May 8, 1959. She moved to Konawa in Aug. of 1992. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Vickie Rummell, Brenda Lee Orton and Diane Lynn Green, and her father, Benjamin Mullins. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Billie Fleck; one son, Harvey Green Jr.; her mother, Claudia Mullins; two brothers, Louie Mullins and Bennie Mullins; one sister, Leoma Barley; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Danny Khoury, Leo Kuestersteffen, Zeb Kuestersteffen, Matthew Kuestersteffen, Tony Kuestersteffen and Jimmy Morehead.

ARLINGTON -Brian K. Davis, 42, an attorney, died Friday, June 29, 2001 in Arlington, Texas. Funeral: 11:00 AM Monday at First Baptist Church, Arlington. Burial: Andice Cemetery, Andice, Texas. Visitation: 6 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. For those that desire, memorials may be made to the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Hearing Impaired, 2000 M Street, N.W., #310, Washington D.C. 20036. Around 4:30 am June 29th, Brian Davis passed away from a yet undetermined illness. The world lost a kind, caring and intelligent Christian man, devoted father, treasured husband, cherished son, wonderful brother, loyal friend, and the list goes on. He earned his B.A. at Oklahoma Baptist University and J.D. from the University of Tulsa; he was a self-employed attorney in Fort Worth specializing in civil law. Survivors: Wife of 11 1/2 years, Kathy Davis of Arlington; sons, Joshua Daniel Davis and Jacob Samuel Davis of Arlington; parents, Bill and Donna Davis of Seminole, Okla; brother, Mike Davis and fiance, Mary Henniger of A ddison, Texas; sister and brother-inlaw, Lisa and Bill Campbell of Seminole, Okla; nieces, LaDawna and Rebecca Campbell of Seminole, Okla, Haley Rene Huffman of Fort Worth; father and mother-inlaw, Joe and Jean Myers of Arlington; sister-in-law, Debbie Huffman and husband, Chris of Fort Worth; numerous other relatives and friends in Texas and Oklahoma. .

Alma Green

Funeral services for Konawa resident Alma Lee Green, 69, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ed George will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Green died Wednesday, June 27, 2001. She was born July 4, 1931 in Prue to Ben and Claudia (Garrison) Mullins. A homemaker, Green lived in the Konawa area since August of 1992. She married Harvey Green in Torrance, Calif., on May 8, 1959. He survives her of the home. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Rummell on Dec. 12, 2000. Other survivors include one daughter, Billie Lynn Fleck; her parents; one sister, Leoma Barley; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Otto Miller

Funeral services for Konawa resident Otto Gus Miller are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Henthorn officiating. Burial will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa. Miller died Tuesday in Konawa at the age of 88. He was born July 10, 1912 in Fredrick to Georgia Ann (Billingsley) Joiner and E.P. Joiner. Miller married Dealva (Austin) Miller in Perryton, Texas, on Nov. 29, 1941. He worked maintenance for Celanese Chemical Co. Miller moved to Konawa from Pampa, Texas in 1988, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa. He is preceded in death by his parents, three granddaughters, one brother, and two sisters. Miller is survived by his wife, Dealva, of the home; two sons, Thomas Edward Miller, of the home, and Sammy Miller, Konawa; one brother, Tom Joiner, Mangum; one sister, Berniece Balusak, Kilgore, Texas; and one grandchild.

James Dodd

Graveside memorial services for James H. Dodd, the father of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Robert Hightower will officiate. Dodd died in Oklahoma City Monday at the age of 83. He was born in Fairbury, Mo. to Joseph and Christine Dodd. He married Leona Beleele in Tecumseh on Jan. 24, 1938. Dodd served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Violet Dodd, Muldrow, Jeannie Dodd, Seminole, Rebecca Broadway, Sasakwa, and Twala Dodd, Coalgate; three sons, Marvin Dodd, Tuskahoma, Jody Dodd, McAlester and Donald Dodd, Coalgate; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Fay Cauthron

A memorial service for Fay Ova (Odor) Cauthron was scheduled for June 18 at the Sand Springs United Methodist Church. Cauthron died June 16, 2001 at her home in Sapulpa. Cauthron was involved in newspaper publishing during the 1950’s with The Seminole Producer and also operated the Seminole Tag Agency and H & R Block Offices. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Cauthron Sr. She is survived by one brother, George Odor, Seminole; one sister, Elsie Rider, Shawnee; two sons, Hal Cauthron Jr., Bethany and Danny Cauthron, Siloam Springs, Ark.; twin daughters, Amy Miller, Sand Springs and Cynthia Cauthron, Sapulpa; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

Rowena Garrett

Funeral services for Maud resident Rowena Mae Garrett are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Maud under the direction of Knight Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate. Garrett died Sunday, June 17 at the age of 78. She was born on Nov. 17, 1922 in Enid to Fred and Mille (LeGand) Richardson. She married Ralph C. Garrett on September 19, 1939 in Caldwell, Kans. She retired as Postmaster at the Maud Post Office in 1987. Garrett was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud. She is survived by her husband; one brother, Fred Richardson; one daughter, Vicki Seeney; two sons, Vernon Garrett and Jack Garrett; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Gwen Austin

Graveside funeral services for Seminole resident Gwen Austin were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Moseley officiated. Austin died Sunday, June 17 at the ago of 67. She was born Aug. 31, 1933 in Seminole to Jay and Elaine (Long) Austin. She attended Vamoosa Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, and one sister. Austin is survived by her stepmother, Imogene Austin, Seminole; one son, Robert Burns, Pittsburg, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Anjilyn ‘A.J.’ Coody

Anjilyn Raegene Coody passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 13. She was born to Andrew Coody Jr. and Carolyn Hall on Sept. 30, 1987 in Ada, OK. A.J. just completed her seventh grade year at Sasakwa High School. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Lawrence Hall and paternal grandparents, Andrew and Irene J. Coody. She is survived by: her parents of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Kris and Tonya Hall of Sasakwa; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Lisa Hall of Wewoka; one nephew, Chance Dale Hall; and one niece, Brooklyn Rene’ Hall; grandmother, Margi L. Hall of Wewoka; seven uncles and eight aunts, Rick and Vivian Hall of Wewoka, Raymond and Regina Hall of Wewoka, Marty Jackson of McAlester, Randy and Jane Coody of Sasakwa, Herman and Leah Coody of Allen, Clifton and Jodi Coody of Sasakwa, and Franchette and Gene Berryhill of Wewoka. A.J. will be transported to Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2001. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa. Reverend’s Allen Miller and Houston Tiger will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Randy Coody, Herman Coody, Clifton Coody, Franklin Coody, Patrick Harjo and Faren Coody. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Hall, Raymond Hall, William Billie, and Jesse Wind. Internment will follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery in Sasakwa under the directions of the Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Peggy Sisson

Cremation services for former Seminole resident Peggy Sisson were held June 4 in Plano, Texas. Sisson was born Feb, 25, 1926 in Lawton to Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Davisson. She attended school in Seminole and graduated in 1943. After graduation she attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She married Dale Sisson at the Methodist Church in Norman while he was on leave from the navy. After he returned following World War II, they made their home in Duncan. Sisson worked as a substitute teacher, homemaker and with the Boy Scouts. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by three sons and their families, Rob Sisson, Plano, Texas; Rick Sisson, Alice, Texas and Rusty Sisson, Garland, Texas; a brother, Bill Davisson, Seminole, a sister, Donna Davisson Smith, Seminole, five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

Kay Rains

Funeral services for Konawa resident Kay Rains are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Dora Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home. Rains died Tuesday, June 19 at the age of 48. Rains was born March 25, 1953 in Seminole to Alfred and Grace Hudson. She was raised in Konawa and was a homemaker. She married Larry Rains in Midwest City on July 18, 1981. She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Herriman, her mother Audrey Ralston and father Alfred Hudson. She is survived by her husband, Larry Rains; one son, Michael Chad Floyd, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Cher Rene Brown, and Dora Lorene Miller, both of Thomas; two brothers Denver Foran Jr., and Kenny Foran, both of Oklahoma City; three sisters Sue Ray, Ada, June Chapman, Moore, and Michelle Foran, Midwest City and one grandchild. Pallbearers will be the family.

Obie Beene

Funeral services for Obie Beene are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction Swearingen Funeral Home. He died Thursday morning at Sunset Estates in Maud at the age of 85. Beene was born Sept. 18, 1915 to Obidiah and Cora Ann Beene in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Beene was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the local 798 Pipefitters Union of Tulsa. He married Ruby Edna Dobbs on Feb. 24, 1939 in Fort Smith. She preceded him in death in 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Beene is survived by one daughter, Jaquita Beene, Seminole; one sister, Hazel Thrailkill, Oklahoma City and one grandson.

Lottie Long

Funeral services for Sasakwa native Lottie E. Long, 86, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at South Colonial Chapel in Oklahoma City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary. Long died June 19, 2001 in Oklahoma City. She was born Dec. 19, 1914 to Samuel and Emmer Brand in Sasakwa. When she was young, her family moved to a farm in Cooperton. After graduating from Hills Business College, she worked briefly as a secretary. She married Lloyd B. Long on June 18, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1999, after more than 60 years of marriage. Long was an original member of Prairie Queen Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She later spent many years as a secretary at Tinker Air Force Base. Survivors include one sister, Edna Lampert, Mangum; one brother, Jimmy Brand, Cooperton; three daughters, Pat Courtney, Jo Anna Smith, and Barbara Austin; and four grandchildren.
