Funeral services were held Monday for Holdenville resident Dorothy Evelyn Phetridge at Bohannon Church with Rev. Buddy Baltimore officiating. Burial followed at Bohannon Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. McPhetridge died Thursday May 31, in Holdenville at the age of 79. She was born in Stigler on Feb. 9, 1922 to William and Ollie B. (Smith) Meeks. McPhetridge was raised in Stigler and attended Garland Schools. She married James Alfred McPhetridge in Bakersfield, Calif., they made their residence in California and she worked for many years as a hairdresser. In 1983 McPhetridge retired and the couple moved to Holdenville in June of 1985. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. McPhetridge was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J.L. Meeks and Arles Red Meeks. She is survived by her husband, James, of the home; one daughter, Alfreda Shamberger, Chapel Hill, N.C.; two sons, Bobby McPhetridge, Tranquility, Calif., and Gene McPhetridge, Northfolk, Calif; six brothers, Billy Meeks, Oklahoma City, Buddy Meeks, Escondio, Calif., Doil Meeks, Holdenville, Dub Meeks, Camerillo, Calif., Jerry Meeks, Berrigo Springs, Calif., and Don Meeks, Holdenville; five sisters, Evy Gason, Elcentro, Calif., Vostal Alley, Holdenville, Delma “Jonnie” Shirley, Stuart, Wilma Bartley, Fair Oaks, Calf., and Wanda Smith, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Louie Roulston
Funeral services for Konawa resident Louie Oliver Roulston, 80, were held Monday at Grace Community Church. Rev. Drew Isaacs officiated at the services. Interment followed at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home. Roulston died Friday, June 1, 2001. He was born Feb. 16, 1921 in Paris, Texas to Lessie Nora (Baker) and Zachary Taylor Roulston. A veteran, he served during World War II with the 45th Infantry Division. Roulston, a lifelong Konawa resident, was a farmer, and retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He was married to Marion Pacey on July 3, 1963 in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death. Roulston was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Taylor and Terrell Roulston; three sisters, Inez Russell, Beatrice Anders, and Julett Mayfield; and one granddaughter. Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Roulston, Ada; one son, Terry Walker, Konawa; seven brothers, Hiram Roulston and Tony Roulston, both of Sasakwa, Dale Roulston, Tel Aviv, Israel, Doyle Roulston and Hardy Roulston, both of Oklahoma City, Dempsey Roulston, Shawnee and Perry Roulston, Konawa; one sister, Laveania Welch, Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Thad Roulston, Kent Roulston, Joe Roulston, Jay Roulston, Frankie Russell, Robert Roulston, and Bryan Roulston.
Zelda Davis
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Zelda Adeline (Bones) Davis, 84, are scheduled for 2 p.m. at Coalgate Church of Christ, Coalgate, with the Rev. Hal Ishmael officiating. Interment will follow at Coalgate Cemetery, under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Atoka. Davis was born July 16, 1916 to Philip Edward and Mimi Stella (Brown) Bones. She died Friday at Hurley Manor in Coalgate. Davis married Leon Davis on March 25, 1938 in Coalgate. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Coalgate, Ada and Seminole. She attended school and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1933. Davis attended Hills Business College and studied bookkeeping and secretarial. She was a housewife and homemaker and worked many years as a bookkeeper. Davis worked for Davis Motor Company in Coalgate, The Lee Company in Ada, and B&L Electric in Seminole. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Edward Jones Jr.; and six sisters. Davis is survived by five children, Ruth Ishmael, Atoka, Ken Davis, Moore, Don Davis, Stillwater, Jane Johnson, Tishomingo, and Patty Coffman, Omaha, Neb, one sister, Wildred Brown, Coalgate; one brother, Daryl Bones, Dallas, Texas, 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Chris Ishmael, Greg Ishmael, Bud Davis, Eric Johnson, Kevin Johnson, and Shane Coffman. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Young, James Stephens II, Steve Varner, and Jeff Heldt.
David Redding
WEWOKA—Funeral services for Wewoka resident David Henderson Redding are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Akasvmkv Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Factor and Rev. John Askins officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Redding was born on Oct. 26, 1931 to Tilford A. and Bonnie Jewel (Byrd) Redding in Wetumka. He died Wednesday at the age of 69. Redding was educated at Hickory Ridge and Weleetka schools. He married Anna L. Upton on June 17, 1951 in Wetumka. Redding worked as a tool pusher and driller for over 30 years, a truck driver for Acker Industries for several years, and caretaker of the Seminole County Fairgrounds for over 10 years. He also spent many years in the oilfield industry working for K. Productions. Redding was a member of Akasvmkv Baptist Church and the Wewoka Golf Association. A lover of sports, he coached little league baseball for many years. Redding is preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Barbara Jones and Christine Cook; and one brother, Charles L. Redding. He is survived by his wife, Anna, of the home; his mother, Bonnie Redding, Wewoka; three sons, David Lee, Mark Alan and Arthur Dale Redding, all of Wewoka; two daughters, Marilyn Kay, Maud, and Sandra Reeves, Wewoka; two sisters, Jimmie D. Stafford, Holdenville, Kay Lively, Weleetka; two brothers, Cecil T. Redding, Calif., and Murrell E. Redding, Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
Adelia Kilcrease
WEWOKA – Graveside funeral services for former Wewoka resident Adelia Kilcrease are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Bertha Potts will officiate and burial will be under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Kilcrease died Friday in Oklahoma City at the age of 88. She was born June 25, 1912, to Bill and Eunice (Portwood) Griswold in Agra. She spent her childhood in Agra and then attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, Southeastern at Durant and East Central at Ada. Her early career was spent with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and later taught for many years at Grant and Hugo before retiring from Wewoka High School. She was married to Simon Kilcrease in Ada and came to Wewoka as a bride. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dan and Frank; two sisters, Alice and Mabel; and her husband. Survivors include one daughter, Harriett Berryhill, Edmond; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Clarence Jones
Funeral services for Clarence Earl "Pete" Jones, 85, were held at 10 a.m. today at Freewill Baptist Chruch in Non with Rev. Gary Dobson officiating. Interment was at the Non cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. Jones died Monday in Holdenville. Jones was born in Bentonville, Ark., to Clarence Earland Mary Rosetta (Gibson) Jones. He was raised in Non and Lindsey and remained in Hughes County until his death. Jones married Alice May Kolar on May 15, 1945 in Richmond, Calf, after returning from serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed caring for his lawn and working on cars. Jones is survived by his wife, Alice, of the home, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Mr. Jones’ nephews and great nephews.
Jeffrey Roberson
Funeral services for Seminole native Jeffrey Scott Roberson, 24, Weatherford, will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Chruch with Pastor Rick Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford. Roberson was born to Leroy and Mary (Ferguson) Roberson on October 25, 1976 in Seminole. He died Wednesday from an auto accident north of Hydro. Roberson was raised and attended school in Weatherford graduating in 1995. He married Jamie Turner on March 1, 2001 in Ft. Smith Ark, and they made their home in Weatherford. Roberson worked for Ralph’s Plumbing and was currently working for Griffco. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, William Roberson. Roberson is survived by his wife, Jamie of the home; his parents Leroy and Mary Roberson, Weatherford; one brother, Michael Roberson, Weatherford; maternal granparents, Elmer and Johnnie Ferguson, Prague; his paternal grandmother, Marcine Roberson, Seminole; and his paternal great grandmother, Bertha Mainord of Seminole.
Wanda Weatherly
Funeral services Wanda L. Weatherly, mother of a Wewoka resident Michael Weatherly, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church in Wichita, Kans. Downing and Lahey Mortuary of Witchita will handle arrangements. Weatherly died Thursday at the age of 67. She was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Littlefield, Texas, to Carl B. and Bertie Louise (Cummins) Trammell. She was a Wichita resident and had retired from Travelers Insurance Company and Wichita Public East High School. In addition to her son in Wewoka, Weatherly is survived by her husband, LeeRoy, of the home; another son, Randy Dean Weatherly, Bartlesville; one brother, Roy D. Trammell, Arkansas City, Kans.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial has been established at Sharon Baptist Church, 2221 South Oliver, Wichita, Kans. 67218.
Carr Paul Donaldson
Memorial services for lifelong Seminole resident Carr Paul Donaldson, 59, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Little. Rusty Dawson will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Donaldson died Thursday, May 31, 2001, in an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 1, 1942 in Seminole. He was employed as a custodian for Central Grade School in 1975, when the school exploded because of a leaky gas pipe. Donaldson was given commendations as a hero for his role in evacuating the school. He had been a rural route carrier for The Seminole Producer for the past 16 years. He was a member of the Little Church of Christ. Donaldson married Kay Lynn (Lemmings) Donaldson on Aug. 11, 1971 in Seminole. She survives him of the home. Other survivors include his son, Jason Donaldson, of Dallas, Texas, and several other family and friends. The family requests that donations be made to the charity of choice.
Bertha Archer
Funeral services for Maud native Bertha Maybelle Archer, 83, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at East Oak Church of God. Burial will follow in Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home. Rev. Odell Vanderburg will officiate. Archer died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Maud to Walter Lee Wornock and Lydia (Slape) Miles. She lived much of her life in Watertown, NY, and moved to Shawnee in 1966. Archer was a seamstress, retiring in 1993, and a member of the Church of God. She married Theodore Archer on Dec. 27, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio; he died on Aug. 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Earl; and one great-grandchild. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Jennings, Shawnee; one sister, Georgia Abbott, Shawnee; two grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Taylor
Services for Dorothy L. Taylor, 82, mother of Ann Biddy of Seminole, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Central Church of Christ in Ada, with Bud Ross officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.
Taylor died Tuesday at Seminole Estates Nursing Center where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born in Shawnee Aug. 11, 1918 to Mary Loretta and Duffy Lewis Brown.
Taylor married Wesley Taylor in Seminole, July 26, 1937. He died Dec. 29, 1979.
She was also preceeded in death by one daughter, Mary Winton in 1981; infant twin sons Wesley and Lesley; and one brother, Leslie Brown.
She lived in Ada for many years, being a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Eva McCown of Wichita, Kan., Judy Carroll of Ada, and Ann Biddy of Seminole; one brother, Max Brown of Tecumseh; one sister, Violet Smith of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Central Church of Christ Building Fund, POB 1463, Ada, Okla. 74821.
Jimmy Ware
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Jimmy Martin Ware, 65, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. David McDougal will officiate. Interment will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Ware died Tuesday at Seminole Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born April 8, 1936, in Seminole to Clyde Ware and Edith Marie (Weatherford) Ware. Ware married LaVonne Lancaster on Nov. 5, 1955 in Seminole. He was an independent oil producer for 25 years and worked 10 years for C & J Trucks. Ware was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Jane Kreeger and Teresa Dean, both of Seminole; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers are Steve Dean, Danny Kreeger, Jeff Dean, Kyle Kreeger, Colt Kreeger and Ron Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Welliver, Sonny Miller, Gary McCoy, Walt Blackwell and the men from First Freewill Baptist Church.
