Willa Guinn

Funeral services for Seminole County native Willa Lou Guinn are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Aydelotte Baptist Church with Rev. Ken May officiating. Interment will follow in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. Viewing and visitation will be form 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. tonight at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker. Guinn died Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at her home in Shawnee at the age of 73. She was born March 17, 1928 in Seminole County to Claud Albert and Beulah (Cleere) McGinnis. Guinn was a Shawnee resident and attended Aydelotte Baptist Church. She worked as a supervisor and operator for Southwestern Bell before retiring in 1964. Guinn graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1948. She married Clifford “Hap” Guinn on Sept. 18, 1980 in Shawnee. Guinn was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joseph Jones on Aug. 8, 1978; and two brothers, Billy Fred “Buck” McGinnis and John McGinnis. She is survived by her husband “Hap” Guinn of the home; one son, Benny Jones of Prague; three stepdaughters, Wilma Edmonson and Carma Morris, both of Shawnee, and Kathy Fletcher of Meeker; three brothers, Sam McGinnis of Prague, Richard McGinnis of Spiro, and Pat McGinnis of Prague; one sister, Nancy Traywick; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Travis McMahan

Memorial services for Travis D. McMahan of Seminole are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Harvey Road Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Hightower officiating. McMahan died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 80. He was born Oct. 1, 1920 in Wynona to Charlie B. McMahan and Lillie B. (Warren) McMahan. McMahan attended school in Wynona, Borger, Texas, Shawnee, and graduated from Webster High School in Oklahoma City. He received his degree in petroleum engineering from Oklahoma University. McMahan attended Harvey Road Baptist Church. He was a member of Siloam Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma City where he received his 50-year pin in 2000. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served four years. He was a bomber pilot who flew 58 missions. Following his military service, McMahan worked for 10 years for Phillips Petroleum Company in Caracas, Venezuela where he was in charge of their holdings. He moved back to Seminole in 1955. McMahan started H & H Specialties Oilfield Supply Company following her return to Seminole. He retired in 1985. McMahan married Barbara Barton on June 17, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carmelitta McMahan in 1990; one brother, and four sisters. McMahan is survived by his wife, Barbara McMahan of the home; three daughters, Sherrie Willis of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tammy Sylsberry of Seminole, and Amy Pharaoh; four grandchildren.

Gladys Martin

Gladys Lea “Memmy” Martin was born Dec. 18, 1904 in Center Point, Howard County, Ark. to John and Rosa Gregg. Their family moved to Stonewall when she was two years old. When she was seven years old, her family moved to Tishomingo. She married Robert Lee Underwood on Feb. 17, 1925. To them were born two daughters, Margie Lea Reed of Ada and Jacqueline Michelle Underwood who died in infancy. Mrs. Martin lived in Ada many years. She went to California in 1942 where she worked at San Bernardino Air Force Base. She later transferred to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. She and Wesley Simpson Martin were married in Lovington, N.M. on Aug. 17, 1957. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1972. Mrs. Martin was admitted to Pioneer Nursing Home Oct. 23, 1976. She was a devoted Christian for over 50 years and a member of the First Assembly of God Chruch in Seminole. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; three brothers, N.N. Gregg, H.H. Gregg and Rocky Gregg and a sister, Michelle Davis. Survivors include her daughter, Margie Lea Reed of Ada; two grandaughters, Janette Kay Jackson of Seminole and Jacqueline Marie Sesso of Corpus Christi, Texas; three great-grandsons, Warren Lee Johnson of Seminole, Abbey Nicole Johnson of Marietta, Ga. and Logan Johnson of Marietta, Ga. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Inez Luper

Funeral services for Inez G. Luper of Del City, mother of a Wewoka resident, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R.B. Mathis officiating. Burial is to be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Luper died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at a Del City Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 24, 1916 in Earlsboro to Frank Brown and Clara Elizabeth (Roush) Brown. She married Ora Gideon Luper on Oct. 19, 1934 in Wanette. She was a homemaker. Luper was a member of Harvey Road Baptist Church and lived in Wewoka and Seminole for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ray Brown; and two sisters, Elsie McVey and Mary Christian. Luper is survived by her husband, Ora “Tag” Luper of Oklahoma City; four sons, Alvin Ora Luper of Canyon Lake, Texas, Billy Ray Luper of Jacksonville, Fla., Franklin D. Luper of Ada, and Terry Lynn Luper of Wewoka; four daughters, Marlene Johnson of Pryor, Arrelene Reeves, Bonnie Su Mason, and Quanah Kaye Newman, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Donald Brown of Lancaster, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family has designated Good Shepherd Hospice of Oklahoma City as appropriate for memorials.

Roy ‘Bid’ Coffman

Funeral services for Roy “Bid” L. Coffman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Strothers Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial is to be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Coffman died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 81. He was born April 28, 1920 in Cleveland, Okla. to Joseph H. Coffman and Etta Bell (Andrews) Coffman. The family moved to Seminole in 1929. Coffman married Felicia “Peggy” Prunty on Sept. 25, 1946 in Denison, Texas. He worked as a pipeline welder for over 40 years. Coffman was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry. Coffman was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Coffman on March 4, 2001; his parents; and two sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Cook of Oklahoma City; one son, Roy L. Coffman Jr. of Omaha, Neb.; one stepson, Charles Jenkins of Madill; one brother, Victor Coffman of Stroud; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Angela Davis

Graveside services for Seminole resident Angela Dawn Davis are scheduled for 11 a.m. at Vamoosa Cemetery. Davis died May 14, at the age of 29. She was born Aug. 23, 1971 in Castro Valley, Calif. to Brenda Hankins and Gary Bandy. Davis spent most of her life in the Konawa area. She was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandfather Harold Bandy. Davis is survived by her mother, Brenda Hankins of Seminole; her father Gary Bandy of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Zachary Davis and Jered Davis, both of Guthrie; one daughter, Ashley Davis of Guthrie; two brothers, Gary Bandy Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; and Derek Bandy of Seminole; one sister, Crystal Bandy of Bowlegs; grandparents, Curtis ad Dorothy Hankins of Seminole; and Mary Bandy of Phoenix, AZ

Gladys Martin

Funeral services for Seminole resident Gladys Lea Martin are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Turner officiating. Martin died Monday at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 96. She was born Dec. 18, 1904 in DeQueen, AR to John Washington Gregg and Evelyn Rosa (Johnson) Gregg. Martin moved to Seminole from New Mexico in 1926. She was “Queen for the Year,” in 1984 at Pioneer Nursing Home. Martin was employed at Tinker Air Force Base during the 1940’s. She was proceded in death by her husband Simpson Martin, he died in 1972 in Eunice, NM Martin is survived by one daughter, Margie Lea Reed of Ada.

Fola Campbell

Funeral services for Fola M. Campbell, mother of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, Kan. Interment is to be at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Funeral Home in Cedar Vale, Kan. She died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Medicalodge in Arkansas City, Kan at the age of 88. Campbell was born April 12, 1913 near Cloverdale, Kan. to Charles V. and Loma (Dougherty) Shaff. She was raised in the Cloverdale area and attended the rural schools and Sedan High School. She married Ira Campbell Jan. 27, 1932 in Winfield, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1971. Campbell was a farmwife and was active in raising her family. She had been a longtime member of Cloverdale Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Campbell and Sharon Groom; and one grandson, Wesley Gene. She is survived by five sons, Kenneth of Shidler, Chet of Wyandotte, Mike of Cedar Vale, Kan., Ron of Seminole, and Bob of Cedar Vale, Kan.; four daughters, Bonnie Campbell of Cedar Vale, Kan., Louise Burdette of Grenola, Kan., Maxine Griggs of Ponca City, and Jane Basler of Emporia, Kan. Other survivors include two brothers, Vance Shaff of Herlong, Calif., and Ralph Shaff of Sedan, Kan.; one sister, Dorothy Bohannan of Wichita, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. The family requests that those desiring to make memorials may do so to Cedar Vale High School athletic department.

Alta Pratt

Alta Mae Pratt of Wewoka died Friday, May 11, 2001 in Corpus Christi, Texas while visiting her daughter and son-in-law. She was 89 years of age. She was born Aug. 30, 1911 in Chandler to Bertha Olodine Dunham and James William Dunham. She graduated from Varnum High School and Hill’s Business College in Oklahoma City. After college, she moved to Seminole and was employed by the Grisso Law Firm as legal secretary to State Representative Dick Grisso. While living in Seminole, she met and married the late Clyde Pratt. They moved to Wewoka in 1936. She was employed by the Charlie Carl Law Firm and later for Myle’s Dress Shop. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Clarice and Tom Almond; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilka and Farmer Wann of Pocola; three grandchildren, Christy Abbott of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stephen Almond and wife, Patty Almond, of Austin, Texas and David Almond of Houston, Texas; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Wewoka with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial as at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Pallbearers include John Bellmyer, Earl Bevelhymer, Gerald Hill, Max Filson, Ferril Williamson, and Ron Stafford. Honorary pallbearer was Kenneth Ballard.

Thelma Muirhead

Thelma Muirhead, an Okemah resident, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2001 at the age of 93 in Oklahoma City. Thelma was born on July 5, 1907 to H.W. and Edith (Tedford) Wright in Pinkstaff, Ill. She was reared and educated in the Lone Oak area. On Dec. 9, 1930, Thelma married Sid Muirhead in Little. Thelma was an Adult Bible Class teacher at Phillips Plant Sunday School for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sid Muirhead; and two brothers, Keith and Walter Wright. She is survived by one daughter, Mona Campbell of Okemah; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rita Muirhead of Okemah; three grandchildren, Clark Campbell of Okemah, Eric Muirhead and Sean Muirhead, both of Baytown, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Crissie Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Tawnya Muirhead, and Zacharia Muirhead; Great-great-grandson, John Butler Simpson V; two sisters, Katherene Suddath of Paradise, Calif., and Myra Horn of Holdenville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka on Saturday with Rev. James Wiggington officiating. Family members served as pallbearers. Interment was at the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Irene Addington

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Irene L. (Stewart) Addington are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Midwest City Community Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home of Midwest City. The Midwest City resident died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at the age of 82. Addington was born on April 1, 1919 in Prague to Tim and Alice (Williams) Stewart. She grew up in the Prague and Seminole areas. She attended school at Prairie Valley. Addington moved to Midwest City in 1949. She married James Addington of Feb. 6, 1958 in Gainesville, Texas. Addington was a member of the Midwest City Community Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her husband, James, of the home. Addington was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Tim, Fred, Silas, Orville, and Grady Stewart; three sisters, Bobbie Hinson, Verna Hubbard, and Ida Martin.

Daisy Dimpel

Daisy Nancy Dimpel died Friday, May 11, 2001 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center at the age of 96. Memorial services for the longtime Seminole resident are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Dimpel was born in Terlton, Indian Territory, on Oct. 19, 1904 to Frank Hackleman and Mable (Rouse) Hackleman. She was married to Merl Albert Dimpel who preceded her in death in June 1964. Dimpel was a member of First Christian Church and a homemaker. She had been a resident of Seminole since 1963. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Joy Sherritt; two brothers, Archie and Thruman Hackleman; three sisters, Beula McKibben, Violet Langston, and Lela Francis. She is survived by three sons, Hal Dimpel of Palm Springs, Calif., Al “Mack” Dimpel of Shawnee, and Jon Dimpel of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Iris Lauderdale of Seminole, Donna Reese of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dee Babb of Hennessey; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
