Dorothy “Dottie” Davisson, 94, a Seminole resident since 1936, died Wednesday morning, April 25, 2001. Funeral services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Karges officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Lawton. Davisson was born Jan. 22, 1907 in Frasier, Mo. to Ira and Dulciebell Gray. She married D.B. Davisson of Feb. 14,1925 in Lawton. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1979. Davisson was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and belonging to several church groups. She also ran her own business, “Dottie’s Ceramics” from the early 1950s through the middle 1970s. Upon retirement, she spent her time gardening and shared her knowledge and talents with all visitors and friends world wide. Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Sisson of Dallas, Texas, and Donna Smith of Seminole; one son, Bill Davisson of Seminole; one sister, Pauline Robison of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Maudie Coffey
Maudie Fern (Griffin) Coffey, a lifelong Seminole resident, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 61. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating. Burial is to be in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. She was born May 8, 1939 in Seminole to Charley Griffin and Maggie (Jackson) Griffin. She married Rev. Arthur W. Coffey on Sec. 8, 1960 in Seminole. Coffey was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father; two sons, Mark Anthony and Mathew Arnold; one daughter, Manuala Devona; several brothers, and a half sister. Coffey is survived by her husband, Rev. Arthur W. Coffey, of the home; two daughters, Melinda Timmons of Seminole, and Michelle Fields of Moore; her mother, Maggie Griffin of Seminole; one brother, Foy Wayne Griffin of California; one sister, Charlene Talamasey of Seminole; and four grandchildren. Casket bearers are to be Daryle Presley, Darcy Scott, Zachary Scott, Terry McGinnis, Gerald Picket, and Curtis Bundy.
Aline Gordon
Aline Gordon of Wewoka died Friday, April 20, 2001 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 75. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Earl W. Bryant of Wildewood Baptist Church officiating. Burial is to be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka. She was born Feb. 26. 1926 in Oblin to Canada and Annie Mae Frazier. Gordon had been a resident of Seminole County for 52 years. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church of Nobletown. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Walter, and Bobby; and one sister, Dorothy. Gordon is survived by two daughters, Yvonne White of Oklahoma City, and Ella Mae Gordon of Houston, Texas; two sons, Jimmie L. Gordon Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and LeRoy Gordon of Wewoka; five brothers, Brady Frazier, Charles L. Frazier, and Johnnie Ray Frazier, all of Oklahoma City, Larce Frazier of Denver, Colo., and Chester Frazier of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Roberta Coleman of Oklahoma City, Velma J. Evans of Spencer, and Alice Faye Stanfield of Oklahoma City.
Bertha ‘Birdie’ Carroll
Bertha “Birdie” Orlena (Atchison) Carroll, a former Seminole resident, died Monday, April 22, 2001 in Tulsa at the age of 99. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Moore Memory Chapel of Tulsa. Graveside rites are to be at 2 p.m. at Little Cemetery. She was born Oct. 23, 1901 in Mountain Home, Ark. to Lexis and Mary Jane Atchison. Bertha was preceded in death by per parents, her husband, Fritz Carroll, and a total of eight brothers and sisters. She had no children, but many nieces and nephews.
Joe Knight
Joe Lawrence Knight died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in Seminole County at the age of 65. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at HudsonPhillips Chapel in Holdenville with Johnny Hinton of the Wewoka Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow the services at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of HudsonPhillips Funeral Home. Knight was born Jan. 26, 1936 in Crawford County, Ark. to Joe Ray Knight and Marie (Garrison) Knight. He was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Crooked Oak High School. Knight married Betty Thetford Thomas on June 2, 1963 in Del City. He recently retired from Acker Industries in Wewoka as a machine operator. Knight enjoyed reading and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Knight; and one brother, Jerry Knight. Knight is survived by his wife of the home; five children, Albert Andrew Thomas of Seminole, Robert C. Thomas of Wewoka, Joe Kelly Knight of Moore, Joe Ray Knight of Wewoka, and Jacqueline Marie Knight of Wewoka; one brother, Gene Knight of McLoud; two sisters, Beatrice LeBarre of Choctaw, and Doris Peeler of Del City; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers are to be Andy Thomas, Robert Thomas, Joe Kelly Knight, Joe Ray Knight, Joe Steven Knight, and Dean Fanning. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Johnson, Bill Whitehouse, Jack Sawyer, and Dale Ramsey.
Sandra Warrington
PERKINS ? Funeral services for former Seminole resident Sandra Marie Warrington are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Covenant Fellowship with Dale Barnes officiating. Interment is to be at 3 p.m. at Little Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater. Warrington died Monday, April 23, 2001 at her residence in Perkins at the age of 52. She was born May 15, 1948 in Stillwater of Robert and Vivian M. (Cook) Sims. Warrington attended schools in Stillwater, Ponca City, Enid, and Seminole during her childhood. She married Wayne Warrington on Dec. 3, 1966 in Enid. An avid bowler, she was a member of many leagues in several of which she represented Stillwater. She enjoyed crocheting and was very actively involved in her church, New Covenant Fellowship. Warrington was a homemaker and a member of Stillwater Moose Lodge #2089. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jerry Sims. Warrington is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Rob Warrington of Jenks; one daughter, Chantel Doutey of Yale; two brothers, Wendell Sims of Stillwater, and Earl Sims of Blackwell; five sisters, Glenda Warren of Baxter Springs, Kan., Naomi Eubank of Enid, Leola Choate of Enid, Roberta Babb of Holdenville, and Stella Smallwood of Silverado, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services for Seminole resident Catherine ‘Cathy’ Sue Hilton will be held Wednesday April 25, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Roy Robertson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Hilton was born on March 26, 1953 in Lemoore, Calif. to Paul and Wanda (Langdon) Jordon. She lived in Seminole since 1955. She was married to Mike Hilton on July 30, 1973 in Ada, Okla. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and Paul Jordon, and one infant son Derick Hilton. She is survived by her husband Mike Hilton of the home; two sons, Shannon Hilton and Erick Hilton both of Seminole; three grandchildren, Nicole Hilton, Austin Hilton, and Skyler Hilton; one brother; Paul Jordon of Boley, Okla., one sister; Sue Holland of Seminole, and a host of family and friends. Casket bearers will be Mark Austin, Duane Cherry, Greg Pierce, Frank Quinalty, David Bussey, and Dewayne Welch. Nancy Marshall
Nancy Marshall, a Wewoka resident, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah at the age of 80. Nancy was born on Oct. 28, 1920 to Joseph and Louisa (Benton) Chupco in Seminole County. She was reared and educated in the Butner School area.] In February of 1949, She married Rev. Jake Marshall. She was a lifelong member of the Little Quarsarty Church in Cromwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters; Sallie Bruner and Lucinda Lindsey, and three brothers; Ben Harjo, Louis Chupco, and Jim Noon. She is survived by eight daughters; Rosalee Marshall of the home, Nanci LeeAnn Marshall of the home, Diane Factor of Cromwell, Semary Marshall of Seminole, Elsie Bruner of Bixby, Joann Armstrong of Texas City, Texas, Nancy Nibbs of Austin, Texas, Pauline Levi of Midwest City; two sons; Robert D. Lena of Eufaula, Famous Marshall of Okemah, and one sister; Annie Hale of Weowka; twenty grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, eight great great-grand children and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at the Little Quarsarty Church in Cromwell. John Johnso
Funeral services for Bowlegs resident John N. Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Seminole. David McDougal will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Johnson died on Monday, April 23, at his home in Bowlegs. He was born in Oklahoma City on April 15, 1916, to John Nelse and Cordia (Dotson) Johnson. He moved to Seminole County over 40 years ago from McIntosh County. He was married to Frankie (Harrison) Johnson on September 26, 1965, in Durant. He retired from C&J Trucks in 1971 and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Seminole. He was preceded in death by two sons and one sister. Survivors include his wife Frankie, of the home; son Burl Collinsworth of Norman; two daughters, Caral Harris of Irving, Texas and Ann Farrell of Newcastle; two brothers, Jess Johnson of Shawnee and Jack Johnson of Oklahoma City; sister Nora Borthick of Oklahoma City, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grand child.
Deborah Hilton
Deborah Sue Hilton, a longtime Seminole County resident, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at Integris Health Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 51. Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Burns officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 8, 1950 in Blanchard to Venon Coots and Helen (Smith) Coots. She married Ray W. Hilton on Jan. 27 1972 in Byng. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1999. Hilton retired from Seminole Nation as director of CHR’s. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Helen Coots of Bowlegs; one son, Casey Hilton of Bowlegs; two sisters, Marilyn Robertson and Vausy Cumpton, both of Bowlegs; and one grandchild.
Rosalyn Boswell
Graveside services for Maud resident Rosalyn Ann Boswell are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Alva Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Dave Iming of Alva Sacred Heart Church is to officiate the services. Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel. She died Easter Sunday, April 15, 2001 at her home in Maud at the age of 82. Boswell was born Dec. 16, 1918 to Nathaniel Hunter Boswell and Gwendolyn Dee (Choate) Boswell in her grandfather’s, Daniel Boone Choate, home in Knoxville, Ark. She attended a number of schools in Eastern Oklahoma and graduated from Maud High School. Boswell retired in 1973 following a 30-year career with the Maud Post Office. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Maud. Boswell was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Nathaniel Jr., Daniel Choate, and William Randolph. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa of Alva; two sons, Randy Boswell and Kerry Boswell; and two grandchildren.
Phillip Kuehner
Phillip Sam Kuehner died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at his home in Seminole at the age of 63. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Kuehner was born in Roff on May 27, 1937 to William Frank Kuehner and Kimball Faye (Lynch) Kuehner. He was a lifelong Seminole resident who retired in 1993 as Maintenance Director for Industrial Engineering Division at Tinker Air Force Base. Kuehner is survived by his mother, Kimball Faye Kuehner of Seminole; one son, Phillip “Ed” Kuehner of Seminole; two daughters, Melody Kuehner of Clearwater, Fla., and Alice Scheller of Edmond; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
