Funeral services for Seminole resident Roland “Jimmy” Tiger, 69, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cheyarha Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dorsey Nero will officiate at the services, assisted by Kelly Tiger and Leroy Davis. Interment will follow at the Tiger family cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Wake services are set for 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He will lie in state at the funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday, at which time he will be moved to the church. Tiger died Friday, March 30, 2001 at Pioneer Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 8, 1931 in Seminole to Edmond and Lucy (McGirt) Tiger. A veteran, he flew with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Tiger had graduated from Haskell Institute in Kansas, and retired from Warren Gas & Petroleum Company in Bray. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Tiger married Donna Rose Tiger on July 5, 1966 at the Cheyarha Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eva Towery. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Sharon Tee Hall; four brothers, Marland Tiger and Donald E. Tiger, both of Seminole, Pembroke Tiger, National City, Calif., and Randall Jay Tiger, Shawnee; four sisters, Gloria Jean Davis, Electra, Texas, Opal Cloud, Arkansas City, Kan., Nema C. Alderman, Wilburton, and Wanda C. Barber, Seminole; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers are listed as J.R. David, Shelby Barber, Nathan Barber, Matthew Sadberry, Donald “Buddy” Tiger and Randall Tiger. Honorary bearers include Rodney Aird, Brad Heinzig, Kyle Alderman, King Cloud and Winfred Fife.
Bill Factor Jr.
Funeral services for Bill S. Factor Jr., 56, brother of Seminole County residents, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fitzgerald’s Ivy Chapel in Ft. Gibson. Elder Kelly Tiger will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Wake services are set for 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Factor died Thursday, March 29, 2001. He was born Feb. 22, 1945, to Harriet and Bill S. Factor Sr. Factor graduated from Holdenville High School in 1963, and furthered his education at Spartan School of Aeronautics. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969, during the Vietnam War. Factor flew with the squadron The Ugly Angels, in a YL-37. Honorably discharged, he received several awards including the National Defense Service medal, Vietnamese Service medal with two stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with device, Good Conduct medal, Aircrew Insignia with three stars, and the Air Medal 10th award. Tiger was employed with CCS, and was on the board of TJAA. He was a member of the Wewoka Hilltop Indian Presbyterian Church. Tiger was a resident in Tulsa for 30 years until his death. He married his wife, Lillian in 1974; she survives him of the home. Tiger was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy Factor. Other survivors include one son, Jamil “Cepvne” Factor, Tulsa; one daughter, Cindy Lasater, Tulsa; one sister, Sandra Littleman, Thomas; two brothers, John Factor, Bowlegs, and Wesley Factor, Wewoka; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ethel Briggs
Ethel May Briggs, a Wewoka Nursing Center resident, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the age of 93. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka. She was born on April 29, 1907 to William Cleveland and Nora Dovie (Hogue) Jenkins in Sperry. Briggs was reared and educated in the Sperry area. She married Elmer T. Briggs who preceded her in death in 1970. Briggs spent most of her life in Sasakwa until she moved to Wewoka in 1967. She had been a resident of Wewoka Nursing Center since 1993. Also preceding her in death was her parents; and three sisters, Pauline Phillips, Fate Harjo, and Jackie Taylor. She is survived by three sons Bill Briggs of Sherman, Texas, Kenneth Briggs of Riverton, Wyo., and Bobby Briggs of Kingman, Ariz.; one brother, Tom Jenkins of Wewoka; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jewel Wilson
Funeral services for Jewel Marie Wilson, the mother of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Shawnee with Dwight Wise officiating. Interment is to be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee. Wilson died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at a Shawnee area hospital at the age of 83. She was born Nov. 12, 1917 in Harjo to Mack Wise and Martha (Middleton) Wise. Wilson attended Harjo public schools. She was a retired cook. She worked as a cook for 20 years with Shawnee Medical Center and Shawnee Regional Hospital. Wilson had resided in Tecumseh for approximately 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; and two sons, Dean Wilson and Johnny Wilson. Wilson is survived by two sons, Arville Lee Wilson of Seminole, and Roland A. Wilson of Shawnee; one daughter, Dolores Bell of Bartlesville; one sister, Oma Wilson of Harjo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bobby Drawbaugh
Graveside services for Wewoka resident Bobby C. Drawbaugh are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Tate Mountain Cemetery with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating. The services will be under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka. Drawbaugh died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Valley View Hospital in Ada at the age of 67. He was born April 10, 1933 in Wagner to Herbert and Pearl (Raper) Drawbaugh. Drawbaugh was reared and educated in the Holdenville area. He married Shirley Mae Craig on Nov. 26, 1975 in Oildale, Calif. The couple returned to live in Wewoka from Wasco, Calif. in 1993. Drawbaugh was a retired mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers; Herbert Drawbaugh, Marion Drawbaugh, and Roy Drawbaugh; and two sisters, Edith Padgett and Bernice Garett. Drawbaugh is survived by two sons, Robert Drawbaugh of the home, and James Drawbaugh of Ada; two daughters, Coleen Drawbaugh and Cheryl Drawbaugh, both of Buena Park, Calif.; five step-daughters, Debbie Kaylor, Mary Byrd, Melba Cottrell, Wanda Deshields, and Donna Craig, all of Wewoka; two step-sons, Melvin Craig Jr., and Allen Craig, both of Wewoka; one sister, Mary Statzel of Holdenville; two brothers, Frank Drawbaugh of Lane, and Austin Drawbaugh of Powell, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are to be his grandsons.
Jessie Kiker
Funeral services for Jessie Juanita Kiker, a former Seminole County resident, were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service in Mustang. Interment is to follow at 2 p.m. in the Wolf Cemetery under the Direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service. Kiker died Friday, March 23, 2001 at an Oklahoma City hospital following a brief illness at the age of 82. She was born near Okemah in Okfuskee County on Sept. 17, 1918 to Jesse Dee and Ina Mae (Inman) Lane. Kiker grew up in Seminole County and was a graduate of Wolf High School. She lived a good part of her adult life in the Seminole area where she worked as an LPN. She had lived at Cedar Lake since 1987. Kiker was a member of the First Christian Church in Seminole and attended Cedar Lake Chapel. She enjoyed retirement and loved to play cards and bowl. She also attended Hinton Senior Citizens. Kiker was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, J.T. “Shorty” Kiker, and R.C. Clayborn. She is survived by one son, Jonny Kiker of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Christine D. Brakebill of Cedar Lake; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Dee Lane of Springfield, Mo. and Carl Lewis Lane of Houston, Texas.
Lotus Harrison
Funeral services for Lotus Hobson Harrison, the brother of a Wewoka resident, were held 11 a.m. Monday at Robertson Mueller Harper in Fort Worth, Texas with Larry Thompson, Chaplain for VITAS officiated. Burial followed at Greenwood Memorial Park. Harrison died Friday, March 23, 2001, in a Fort Worth hospital at the age of 85. He was born Sept. 16, 1915 in Vernon, Ala. to Walter and Minnie (Vaughn) Harrison. Harrison married Wyllene Bond on Dec. 18, 1938. He attended East Central State College in Ada. While a student, he was a member of the baseball team and earned a batting average that is still a standing record. Following graduation in 1936, he taught and coached baseball in several Oklahoma town, including the Oklahoma State Basketball Champions form Vamoosa. He was inducted into the East Central State College Sports Hall of Fame in 1985. Harrison was a veteran of World War II having served as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. In 1981, he retired as an administrative manager with AMOCO following a 34-year career. He was a 50-year member of Konowa Lodge, A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was of the Methodist faith. Harrison is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wyllene, of the home in Fort Worth; two sons, Thomas B. Harrison of Woodbury, Minn., and Michael B. Harrison of Fort Worth; one brother, Wilbanks Harrison of Wewoka; and five grandchildren. Honorary bearers were Bill Adams, Tom Black, Ned Hardin, George Hearne, Howard Katz, John Mason, David Motheral, and J.W. Wilson.
Grace Blott
Funeral services for Seminole native Grace Blott, 71, were held 10 a.m. today at Country Estates Baptist Church. Burial followed at Arlington Memory Gardens under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Northeast. Blott died Friday, March 23, 2001. She was born on June 9, 1929 in Seminole to Nathan C. and Wiladean (Clayton) Cheatwood. Blott was a member of the Country Estates Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Blott; her parents; one brother, Ralph Cheatwood; and two sisters, June Cook and Marie Stapleton. Blott is survived by four sons, Danny Blott, and Jack Blott, both of Oklahoma City, Steve Blott and David Blott, both of Newalla; two brothers, Floyd and Charles Cheatwood; one sister, Lorine Reynolds; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Lovdie Stephens
Lovdie Bickerstaff Stephens, a Konawa resident, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at the age of 93. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Church of Christ. Richard Winters officiated the services with Ed George assisting. Burial followed the services at Vista Cemetery. Stephens was born May 21, 1907 in Saltillo, Miss. to Vonie and John Bickerstaff. She married Hubert Stephens in Konawa on Dec. 24, 1923. Stephens was a homemaker who moved to Konawa from Asher in 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Willie Allen “Bill” Stephens; her parents; two sisters, Lillie Stephens, and Eileen Worley; and three brothers, Calvin, Bonnie, and Guy Bickerstaff. Stephens is survived by one sister, Bessie Damron of Mid West City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Lillard Berry, Mike Boren, James Bryant, Jeral Jackson, Jim Lowe, Roger Allen Harrod, and Harold Kinder.
Lillian Goss
Lillian Bell Goss of Seminole died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 85. Private family burial services were held at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Casket bearers were her grandsons and sons-in-law. She was born March 4, 1916 in Augusta, Kan. to Leno Elliott and Pearl Irene (Swoger) Elliott. Goss was a member of the Assembly of God and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie T. Goss on March 20, 1964; her parents; one grandson; and two sisters. Goss is survived by four daughters; Brenda Kay hood of Stigler, Bonnie Lee Whaley of Pocola; Helen Loretta Hammersley of Stigler; and Carol Ann Drumright of Seminole; one brother; B.L. “Red” Elliott of Seminole; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Edna Marshall
Edna Julia Marshall, a Konawa area resident, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Sunset Estates of Maud at the age of 87. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. today at Dora Cemetery with Revs. Jeffrey Williams, James Williams, Jason Williams, and Joshua Williams officiating. Services were under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud. Marshall was born March 13, 1914 in Hemet, Calif. to Charles Henry Lang and Ida (Ebel) Lang. She married Carl Wesley Marshall on April 29, 1935 in Hemet, Calif. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2000. Marshall moved to rural Konawa area in 1990 from Oregon. She was a member of the Konawa Assembly of God Church. The past few years she had been attending Holdenville Immanuel Fellowship Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one son, Larry Marshall in September 1944. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Lynn Williams of Konawa, and Bonnie Spencer of Nicaragua; two sons, Charles W. Marshall of Dallas, Texas, and H. Winston Marshall of Wilsonville, Ore.; one sister, Hallie Tiner of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; one brother Leslie Lang of Beaumont, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Frederick Combs Sr.
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Frederick Cecil Combs, Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, at First Church of God in Seminole with Rev. Roger Brewer officiating. Burial is to be in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Combs died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 87. He was born Sept. 4, 1913 in Clarksville, Ark. to Henry Clay Combs and Ida (Brown) Combs. Combs moved to Seminole from Arkansas in 1939. He married Lois Louisa Harris on Sept. 4, 1940 in Shawnee. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1993. Combs was a member of First Church of God in Seminole and worked as a farmer for most of his life. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and one sister. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Regina Combs of Seminole; one daughter and son-in-law, Lela and Harry Hackelman of Seminole; one brother, Virgil Chester Combs of Pottsboro, Texas, four grandchildren, Tamara Ellenbecker, Timothy John Roberts, Valarie M. Howeth, and Rick Combs; and one great-grandson, Daniel Charles Brown. Pallbearers are listed as Les Gunter, Roger Kirkwood, Warren Combs, Charles Howeth, Herb Gunter, Virgil Chester Combs, Jr., and Stephen Combs.
