Jerry Brock

Funeral services for Jerry E. Brock of Shawnee are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh with Dr. Milburn Wilson officiating. Interment is to be in Dora Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Brock died Friday, March 23, 2001 in Midwest City at the age of 68. He was born July 11, 1932 in Sulphur to Claud Carrol and Mary (Huskey) Brock. Brock moved to Macomb as a child and was a graduate of Macomb High School. He married Norma Hudson on July 19, 1953 in Romulus Baptist Church. Brock was a veteran of the U.S. Army having service during the Korean War. He worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 25 years, beginning as a driver and serving the last 10 years as district manager for the State of Texas. He retired from Greyhound in 1987. Following his retirement from Greyhound, Brock worked for the OTC Motor Vehicle Department Law Enforcement Division until he retired in 1999. Brock was a Master Mason in the Shawnee Composite Lodge No. 107 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on John Deere mowers, fishing and traveling. Brock was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Terry Brock of Enid, and Jeff Brock of Norman; three brothers, Jim Brock of Shawnee, Bob Brock of Marrietta, Randy Brock of Macomb; three sisters, Shirley Sisney, Molly Henderson, and Judy Patton, all of Macomb; and two granddaughters.

Doris Harris

Doris Marie Harris, the mother of a Konawa resident, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the age of 68. The Brooksville resident was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Oklahoma City to Lee and Inis Wyatt. She married Athel Eugene Harris on June 4, 1952 in Seminole. Harris was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eugene and Bill Harris; and one granddaughter, Bridgette “Peanut” Payne. She is survived by her husband of the home; four daughters, Patricia Edward and Carolyn Rosamond of Tecumseh, Susan Payne of Konawa, and Cheryl Pollard of Eufaula; three sons, Bobby Harris of Tecumseh, Robert Harris of Harrah, and Michael Harris of Earlsboro; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services are pending with Demuth-Garrison and Sherman Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Tony O’Bryant

Funeral services for Tony Patrick O’Bryant, the father of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Tecumseh with Pastor Mac Pearcy officiating. Burial is to be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. O’Bryant died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 in Shawnee at the age of 66. He was born June 2, 1934 in St. Louis, Okla. to James Janson and Elma Eunice (Patterson) O’Bryant. O’Bryant was reared in St. Louis and lived in Oklahoma City for 12 years. He had lived in Pottawatomie County the majority of his life. He married Jean Hines on Dec. 23, 1954 in Pearson. O’Bryant began working for O.G.& E. in 1960 as a mechanic, later becoming a hydraulic specialist and retired in 1994 as a transportation supervisor. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the National Rifle Association and the American Shooters Association. He enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, and reading in his spare time. O’Bryant was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Glen O’Bryant. He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Kathy Dianne Campbell of Seminole, and Laura Lynn Moore of Norman; two brothers, Newton O’Bryant of Konawa, and Olen O’Bryant of Choctaw; two sisters, Doris Hines of Luther, and Lois Redfield of Tecumseh; and three grandchildren.

In Loving Memory Of Kenneth Colvin

Kenneth Eugene Colvin, 18, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 as a result of a traffic accident in Seminole County. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Seminole High School Auditorium with Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial is to be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. He was born March 6, 1983 in Seminole to David Colvin and Rhonda (Lozer) Colvin. Colvin was a lifelong Seminole resident and a junior at Seminole High School He was an offensive and defensive football player for the Chieftains and also a member of the weightlifting team. Colvin was a part-time employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Seminole and a member of the Noizy Toyz Car Club. He is survived by his father and stepmother, David and Cathy Colvin of Shawnee; his mother, Rhonda Colvin of Seminole; one sister, Heather Colvin of Seminole; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Colvin of Seminole; maternal grandparents, Betty Lozer of Crane, Texas, and George Allen of Seminole; great-grandfather, Howard Yancey of Seminole; stepgrandparents, Bob and Georgia Taylor of Shawnee; stepbrother, Chris McBay of Shawnee; stepsister, Catie McBay of Shawnee; Aunts, Wanda Ross of Seminole, Lisa Tarrant and husband, Greg, of Hereford, Ariz.; uncles, John Colvin and wife, Tracey, of Earlsboro, Tim Colvin and wife, Jennifer, also of Earlsboro, and William Lozer of Hinton; girlfriend, Cora Hudson of Maud; and a host of cousins, other family members and friends. Casket bearers are to be Mark Austin, Duane Cherry, Gary Rhodes, John Phillips, Henri Marcel, and Troy Rhodes. Honorary bearers are Gilbert F. Ross, Jr., Erick Hilton, Chris McBay, members of the Noizy Toyz Car Club, SHS football players, Coach Mike Snyder and his coaching staff.

Jimmy Jordan

Memorial Service for Jimmy Leroy Jordan, 51, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud. Jordan died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at his home in Maud. He was born on Oct. 1, 1949 in Seminole to Dave Jordan and Alice (Palmer) Jordan. Jordan married Cathy Fitzsimmons on Sept. 2, 1967 in San Rafael, Calif. He was a licensed plumbing contractor and enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. Jordan was preceded in death by one sister, Julia W. “Sis” Jordan on Feb. 9, 1978. He is survived by his parents of Tecumseh; his wife of the home; two daughters, Lisa Jordan and Ashley Jordan, both of Maud; two sons, Jimmy Jordan and Jeremiah Jordan, both of Maud; one brother, John Parrish of Maud; and three grandchildren.

Linda Bear

Funeral services for Linda Kay (Larney) Bear, 57, were held at 2 p.m. today at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with Revs. Mike Harjo and Michael Svitak officiating. Burial was in the Hitchitee United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. She lay in state at Swearingen Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Tuesday when she was moved to the Hitchitee United Methodist Church. Wake services were held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Bear died Friday, March 16, 2001 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born in Seminole on April 18, 1943 to John Larney and Melinda (Alexander) Larney. She married Pawnee “Bill” Bear in Oklahoma City in 1964. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1994. Bear lived and worked most of her life in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed playing softball, knitting, crocheting, attending auctions, and playing with her grandchildren. She joined and was baptized at Hitchitee Methodist Church as a teenager. Also preceding Bear in death were her parents; and one son, Stephen Dale Bear. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Wayne Burgess of Tecumseh, and Cecil Ray Bear of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Vanessa Cervantes of Seminole; two brothers, John Larney, Jr. of Inola, Kan., and Simon Jacob Larney of Bowlegs; six sisters, Rachel Bear, Johnnie Mae Alford, and Shirley Walters all of Shawnee, Sally Fixico, and Idalena Atoddlety, both of Seminole, and Cecila Barnett of Tulsa; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kip Larney, Josh Larney, Jason Larney, Rick Alford, Chebon Kernell, and Duane Atoddlety. Honorary bearers were Timmy Bear, Carl Lee Harper, Cecil Larney, Bill Larney, and George Bear.

Gloria Decker

Gloria J. Decker, the sister of a Maud resident, died Monday, March 19, 2001 at Midwest Regional Medical Center in Midwest City at the age of 70. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Pearson with Rev. Paul Nix officiating. Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud. She was born in St. Louis, Okla. on Dec. 5, 1`930 to Clarence A. Richard and Bessie Lucille (Long) Richard. Decker was a homemaker and retail food clerk for Greenhaws, Safeway, and Homeland grocery stores for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her mother on June 21, 1985; her father on Oct. 31, 1986; and one brother, David Richard on March 13, 2001. Decker is survived by two sons, Terrell Gene Decker of Nicoma Park, and Kenneth Allen Decker of Harrah; two sisters, Frances Cravey of Midwest City, and Betty O’Daniel of Maud; one brother, Clarence Decker, Jr. of Red River, N.M.; and one grandson.

Anna Duncan

Funeral Services for Anna Marie Duncan were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Criswell Chapel in Ada with Bobby Johns and Floyd Kaiser officiating. Interment was in Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home. She died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at an Ada area nursing home at the age of 77. Duncan was born on Aug. 21, 1923 in Maud to William Edward Martin and Minnie Florence Curtis. She graduated from Central High School in Seminole County. She married Norman Duncan on Dec. 21, 1941 in Konawa. Duncan was a homemaker and a member of Southwest Church of Christ. She taught children’s Bible class and was a Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls leader. She served on their board of directors for years. Duncan also served on the Election Board and was active in the Meals on Wheels program. She worked for the War Production Board during World War II and then at Douglas Aircraft factory in Oklahoma City building bombers. Duncan is survived by her husband of the home; one daughter, Peggy Dianna Walker of Denton, Texas; one son, Norman Paul Duncan of Ada; one brother, Byron Martin of Seminole; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Myers, Jerry Sims, Glendel Hatton, Keith Nall, Ronnie Johns, and Greg Hatton.

Arlie ‘Ike’ Carter

Graveside services for Wewoka resident Arlie “Ike” Carter, 86, were held Saturday at Liwoski Cemetery in Pharoah. Rev. Larry Chesser will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Carter died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at Seminole Medical Center. Ike was born July 14, 1914 to James Andrew and Sarah (Williams) Carter in Pharoah, Oklahoma, where he was reared and educated. Ike was drafted into the United States Army during World War II and later honorably discharged. He worked as a pipe liner for 45 years and remained in Bakersville, Calif. area until December 1999. He then moved to Wewoka, where he remained until the time of his death. He resided at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home. Ike was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Arthur, Reo and George Carter; and two nephews, Andrew and Lonnie Carter. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Artie Carter of Holdenville; nephew Wayne and Ginger Carter, Wewoka; great-nephew Shawn and Trish Carter, Wewoka; nephews, Gene and Gerty Carter, Yeager, Jim and Linda Carter, Holdenville, Dave and Shelly Carter, Yeager and Weldon Carter of Little Rock, Ark.; nieces Linda and J.J. Johnson, Batesville, Calif., Letoa Rogers, Yeager, Florene Weager, Wewoka, Christain Elliott, Holdenville, Maryland Carter, McAlester and Pauline Hill, Yeager; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.

James ‘Jim’ Stout

Funeral services for Wewoka native James Archie “Jim” Stout, 43, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel. Sister Judy Martin will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Stout died Friday, March 9, 2001 at the North Winds Living Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 11, 1957 in Wewoka to Archie and Florine Stout. Raised in the area, he graduated from Wewoka High School. Stout was preceded in death by his father on June 29, 1978. Survivors include his mother, Florine and her husband, Clifford Christ of Wewoka; three sisters, Maria Hollingsworth, Tucson, Ariz., Sabra Todd, Wewoka and DeAnn Kessler, Nogal, N.M.; one stepbrother, David Christ, Wewoka; one stepsister, Pricilla Dutton, Seminole; and a special friend, Robert Cummins, Oklahoma City. Pallbearers are listed as Steve Altman, Ron Allen, Mike Good, Mark Howell, Richard Northcutt and Guy Tucker.

Jimmy Potter Sr.

Graveside services for Wewoka resident Jim Potter, 68, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Potter died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at his residence. He was born March 13, 1932 in Holdenville to John and Lucille (Myatt) Potter. A veteran, Potter served during the Korean War with the US Air Force. He worked in the oilfields and did mechanic work. Potter was married to Jeanene Robertson in Wewoka. She preceded him in death. Potter was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Evelyn Peters and an infant brother. Survivors include his children, Kirk Potter, Ardmore, Cindy Tolbert, Ft. Worth, Texas, Jimmy E. Potter Jr., Midwest City, and Mitchell Potter, Wewoka; two sisters, Patricia Montgomery, Ft. Worth and Jana Beth Hays, Ft. Worth; 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lottie Wright

Graveside services for former longtime Seminole County resident, Lottie E. Wright, 100, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Little Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Wright died Thursday, March 8, 2001 in Odessa, Texas. She was born Oct. 27, 1900 in Pottawatomie County, Indian Territory to Cal Bleeker and Mary M. Miracle. A homemaker, Wright was a member of Monument First Baptist Church in Hobbs, N.M. She was married to Roy E. Wright in 1916; he preceded her in death on May 4, 1968. Survivors include one son, Cal Wright of Big Spring, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gwendolyn Younger

Funeral services for Gwendolyn Younger, a native of Lima, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Quayle United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Home. Younger was born Oct. 9, 1925 to William E. Brown, and Louisa Carter Brown. She and her family later moved to Wewoka where she was reared along with her seven sisters and three brothers. After graduating from high school, she moved to Oklahoma City. She married Joe Younger and together they had six children. Younger was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She first attended Park United Methodist Church in Wewoka and then Quayle United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She spent most of her years at Quayle as a member of the usher board and communion stewards.
