Funeral services for Virgil Ray Babb were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
Jess Power was to officiate.
Burial was to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Babb died Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 61.
He was born Sept. 4, 1940 in Wewoka to William Zebdee and Zula (Davidson) Babb.
He graduated from Fox High School in 1958.
Babb spent most of his working life in the oil fields.
He was married to Donna Wells.
He later married Bonnie Stidham and then Linda Custard.
Babb was a former member of the V.F.W.
He had lived in McLoud for the past two years after leaving Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Betty Babb Chambers; and one stepson, Charley Scampture.
Babb is survived by his wife, Linda Babb of the home; his mother; four children, Radonna Babb, Tony Babb, Jackey Babb, and Samuel Babb; four stepchildren, Jeff Scampture Tommy Custard, Billy Custard, and Lorrie Pastorello; six grandchildren; six brohters, Don, Tommy, Billy, Jimmy, Ronny and Ricky; and one sister, Kathy Martinez.
Belton Bailey
WEWOKA – A service of remembrance for Belton Homer Bailey is scheduled for 11 p.m. Saturday in the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Bailey died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the age of 65.
He was born July 20, 1936I Chickasha to Homer and Opal Crumm Bailey.
He was raised in the Chickasha area and graduated from Chickasha School.
Bailey married Brenda Creswell on Oct. 24, 1980.
He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He was employed by Parker Drilling for 20 years and was a rancher in the Sasakwa area.
Bailey was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bobby Bailey in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Blair and Brook Bailey of the home; one son, Blake Bailey of the home; two sisters, Eva Nell Smith and Jo Ann Hoffman, both of Chickasha; and one brother, Jim Bailey of Chickasha.
Gary Bandy
A memorial service for Gary Wayne Bandy are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Vamoosa Cemetery.
The service is under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Bandy died Friday, April 12, 2002 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 55.
He was born March 22, 1947 in Montgomery, W.Va. to Harold and Betty Lee (Huddleston) Bandy.
He was the manager of the Seminole Montgomery Ward Catalog Store.
Bandy was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Angela Davis on May 14, 2001; and one infant granddaughter, Heaven Lee Bandy.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Bandy Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz. and Derek Bandy of Seminole; one daughter, Crystal Bandy of Bowlegs; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Lester Bandy of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one sister, Donna George of Marina, Calif.; and three half sisters, Beverly, Jo Ellen and Cheryl.
Leodus "Chubby" Banks
Services are Planned for Former Wewoka Mayor
Funeral services for Leodus "Chubby" Banks, a former mayor and city manager of Wewoka, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Burial is to follow at the East Lawn Cemetery in Boley under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Viewing will be at Boley today and tomorrow and at Myers Mortuary on Thursday and Friday.
Banks died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 82.
He had lived in Seminole County most of his life.
He was born Jan. 1, 1920 in Boley to Boston and Susie Banks.
Banks was a farm supervisor at the Boley State Training School for boys.
He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Banks was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and ASCS.
He was a member of the Church of Christ of Cromwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Forrest; and one sister, Verdell.
Banks is survived by his wife, Hazel Banks of the home; two daughters, Leonice Banks of Boley and Lasonja Parker of Shawnee; two sons, Reginald Parker of Wewoka and Kevin Parker of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, Boston Banks of Vallejo, Calif. and Thurml Banks of San Rose, Calif.; and one sister, Charleszetta Doster of Boley.
Michelle Barkus
Funeral services for Michelle Nicole Adams Barkus are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in the Dustin High School Gymnasium.
Superintendent H.E. Huffman of Huffman Pentecostal Church of God in Christ is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Vernon Community Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Barkus died Feb. 12, 2002 at her home in Wewoka at the age of 28.
She was born April 19, 1973 in Oklahoma City to Donald Lee and Sherry Adams.
She graduated from Wetumka High School where she was a member of the high school band and girls basketball team.
Barkus was named All-Conference and Homecoming Queen her senior year.
She was a member of Huffman Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, where she held the position of local minister of music.
She served as Okmulgee District secretary, Okmulgee District assistant minister of music, and was a member of the Oklahoma Northwest State Choir.
Barkus worked for Rainbow Terrace Nursing Home for six years and at Wrangler in Seminole for 1 ½ years.
She was also employed at First Baptist Church Daycare in Wewoka.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Andre Barkus of Wewoka; her father of Oklahoma City; her mother and stepfather, Sherry and Cardell Huffman of Dustin; and three brothers, Paul Eugene Adams of Alaska, Donald Ray Adams of Wewoka; and Eddie Brunner of Oklahoma City.
Mary Ruth Barrow
Graveside services for Maud native Mary Ruth Barrow are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.
Rev. Bill Derrick is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Barrow died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at the age of 91.
She was born April 5, 1910 in Maud to Alva and Zella (Jett) Christian.
She married Roscoe "Doc" Barrow on Dec. 26, 1941 in Shawnee.
He preceded Barrow in death on Aug. 17, 1988.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Maud. She was also the church pianist.
Barrow was also a member and pianist of the Christian Family Quartet of gospel singers.
She also formed and accompanied the World’s Youngest Quartet.
She accompanied the six-year-old, first grade quartet members as they traveled and performed through Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, and Arkansas.
Barrow taught 42 years in Seminole County and Pottawatomie County elementary schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Elian Christian and Berthold Christian, Curtis Christian, and Ralph Christian.
She is survived by one brother, Clyde Christian of Moore; and one sister, Nola Pauline Chapman of Rancho Murieta, Calif.
Mary Bear
Funeral services for Mary Josie Bear, mother of Wewoka resident Jon Bear, are scheduled for 2 p.m.Tuesday at Montezoma Indian Church, Okemah.
A wake is planned at 7 p.m. Monday at Montezoma Church, with Rev. Justin Deere officiating.
Burial is planned at the Bear family cemetery under the direction of Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta.
Bear died Friday in Tulsa at the age of 59.
She was born to Barney and Effie (Harjo) Leader, who preceded her in death.
She lived most of her life in the Okemah area.
She was married to Ashely Bear for 42 years; he survives her, of the home.
Other survivors include her stepmother, Liza Leader; five sons, Jon of Wewoka, Timothy of Okemah, Daniel of Henryetta, Joe of Okemah, Patrick of Okmulgee; one daughter, Lisa Bear of Tulsa; six brothers, Jesse Leader, Missouri, Eddie Leader, Henryetta, Raymond Leader of Lamar, Kenneth McCully, Bowlegs, William McCully, Pryor, and Eddie McCully, Oklahoma City; five sisters, Lottie May Coody, Florida, Joyce McCully, Evelyn McCully and Sandra McCully, all of Oklahoma City, and Marilyn McCully of Moore; 23 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
