Services for Yerba Jean Esau, formerly of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Dec. 14, 2002 at the Bill Darrough Pavilion at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Internment followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 13, 2002 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel in Hugo.
Yerba Jean Esau, of Marvell, Ark., died Dec. 11, 2002 in West Helena, Ark. She was 65.
Yerba Jean Esau was born Jan. 17, 1937 in Hugo to Leonard Irvin and Winnie (Cole) Craft. She married Gordon Esau in Fairbanks, Ak. Aug. 6, 1960.
Yerba was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Irvin Craft in 1987.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Esau of Helena, Ark. and Calvin Esau of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Donna Mata of Lawton and Bonnie Stricklin of St. Louis; her mother, Winnie Craft of Paris, Texas and one brother, John L. Craft of Paris, Texas; as well as a number of grandchildren and one niece.

Carrie Jackson
Services for Carrie Jackson were be at 2 p.m. Dec. 14, 2002 at the South Central District Building in Hugo. The Rev. Grover Walker officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Box Spring Cemetery.
Carrie Jackson, formerly of Fort Towson, died Dec. 9, 2002 at the Wildwood Nursing Home in Oklahoma City. She was 92.
She is survived by one daughter, Corene Edwards of Oklahoma City; three sons, Sam Jackson of Fort Towson, Andrew Jackson, Jr. of Oklahoma City and Joe R. Jackson of Kansas City, Kan.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Elvis Bryant Beasley
Services for Elvis Bryant Beasley were at 10 a.m. Dec. 13, 2002 at the Kent Baptist Church. Robert Spalding and Ronnie Brown officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Sugar Creek Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jeromy Beasley, Brandon Beasley, Jeramey Mack, Michael Bond, Kevin Scheller and David Dunn. The honorary pallbearers were Kelly Scheller, Bob Holley, Dusty Spalding,and John Spalding.
Elvis Bryant Beasley, of the Kent Community, died Dec. 10, 2002 in Paris, Texas. He was 77.
Elvis was born June 10, 1925 in Anson, Texas to Bo and Ida May Bryant. He was a resident of the Kent Community Area since 1970. He was a member of the Kent Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and song leader for 27 years. Elvis served his country during World War II in the United States Army and achieved the rank of master sergeant. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed watching them grow up, playing ball and doing well in all that they tried. He was a “people person,” and enjoyed the company of others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, William Bryant Beasely.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; three sons, Rodney Beasely of Abilene, Texas, Elvis Beasley and his wife Donna of Antlers and Richard Beasely and his wife Kathy, also of Antlers; two daughters, Linda Dunn of Hobbs, Min., and Rhonda Beasley of the home; five sisters, Joyce Beasely, Vera Langley and husband C.J. and Jean Fikes, all of Midland, Texas, Mary Schubert and husband Gene of Fort Worth, Texas and Molly Schneider and husband Leo of Porter; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

James Bean
Graveside services for James Bean, of Valliant, were at 2 p.m. Nov. 13, 2002 at the Valliant Cemetery. Brother Howard Head officiated the ceremony. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Valliant.
James Bean died Dec. 10, 2002 in Paris, Texas. He was 76.
James Bean was born April 16, 1926 in Clarksville, Texas to Hardy Lee Bean and Iva I. (McKay) Bean. He married Reba Harkins March 19, 1948 in DeQueen, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Bean and one sister, Merlene Henson.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Bean; two sones, James C. Bean of Rufe and Harvey L. Bean of Valliant; two daughters, Rebecca Fennell of Valliant and Brenda K. Provence of Fort Towson; one sister, Iva Lee Wheeler of Clarksville, Texas; four brothers, Donald Curtis Bean of Moscow, Texas, Jimmy L. Bean of Washburn, Mo., Travis Dale Bean of Eugene, Ore. and Paul H. Bean of Paris, Texas; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

O.L. Hartsell
Graveside services for O.L. Hartsell, of Hugo, were at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12, 2002 at the Orr Cemetery in the Orr Community near Ringling.
Oie Lester Hartsell died Dec. 10, 2002 in Ardmore. He was 95.
Oie Lester Hartsell was born in Columbia County, Ark. Sept. 17, 1907 to Ersie Samuel and Dora (Ruston) Hartsell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Waunita; one daughter, Delores Davis Hartsell on Dec. 7, 2002.
O.L. is survived by one granddaughter, Rita Davis of Hugo.

Kenneth Cole “Kacee” Powell
Services for Kenneth Cole “Kacee” Powell, of Powderly, Texas, were at 1 p.m. Dec. 11, 2002 at the Apostolic Tabernacle Church. The Rev. Johnny Holley and the Rev. Joey Waldrup officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Pecan Grove Cemetery.
Kenneth died Dec. 9, 2002 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Paris, Texas. He was 58.
Kenneth Cole Powell was born Jan. 7, 1944 in Wheeler County, Texas to Archie Cole and Dorothy Faye (Downs) Powell. He drove as an owner/operator for many years until he recently began driving for D&J Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Powell of Powderly, Texas; four daughters, Lisa Mynear of White Deer, Texas, Carrie Earheart of Pampa, Texas, Sharmin Powell of Hugo and Tanisha Waters of Houston; one sister, Arvella Goodrum of Georgetown, Texas; his mother, Dorothy Powell of Pampa, Texas and nine grandchildren.
