Billy Cannon

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Billy G. "Bud" Cannon are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Revs. Don Ramsey, Gary Pollard, Floyd Tate, and Dr. Jack Medlock will officiate.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

There will be no committal service at graveside. Services will conclude at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Cannon died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2002 in Oklahoma City at the age of 76.

He was born to Lester "Boss" Cannon and Lois (Aylor) Cannon on Sept. 8, 1926 in the Little Community.

Cannon lived in Seminole and Little most of his life, and lived in Oklahoma City from 1953-1983.

He was a graduate of Strother High School and Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater where he earned his degree in Agriculture.

Cannon served in World War II and Korea as a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy.

He married Dorothy Jean (Morehead) Cannon on June 7, 1962 in Seminole.

Cannon was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service with over 29 years of service.

He converted to Christ as a teenager attending the Highway Baptist Church, and was later affiliated with the Tri-City Christian Center and Glad Tidings Assembly of God.

Cannon was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lester Cannon.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two sons, Kenneth Snell, Auburn, Wash. and William Snell, Midwest City; two daughters, Patricia McNatt, Allen, Texas and Diana Snell, Greenwood, Ark.; one brother, Jimmy Cannon, Seminole; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Lorene Mae Cannon

Lorene Mae (Guinn) Cannon of Seminole went to be with her Lord on July 29, 2002.

She fought hard and strong throughout her battle with renal cancer.

She was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Boynton to Lee and Clara Mae Guinn.

She graduated from Strother High School and attended Draughon’s Business College in Oklahoma City.

She retired after working 21 years at Tinker Air Force Base.

After retirement from Tinker, she worked and retired from Midwest City Memorial Hospital.

She served as a living example of a true Christian woman and was a charter member of Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City.

For the last several years, she served as pianist for the Adult Sunday School Department at First Baptist Church in Seminole.

She enjoyed being around "young" people and was the adoptive "Grandma" mascot of the girls’ softball teams at Seminole State College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Kenneth "Pompey" Cannon.

She is survived by one daughter, Corky Cantrell and her husband, Jim, of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Lester Lee Cannon of Moore, Kenneth "Diz" Cannon and partner, Duane Erwin of Rockville, Md.; three grandchildren, Kristy Benardello and husband John of Midwest City, Brady Cantrell and wife, Bridget, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Nicki Cannon of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kourtney Jenkins, John-Michael Bernardello and Cydeiya Stephens-Benardello of Midwest City; two sisters, Florene Tinsley (her twin) of Seminole, Etta Lee Comstock of Shawnee; one brother, Furman Roy Guinn of Great Bend, Kan.; three nieces; three nephews and one niece being a "Special Angel," Donna "Kitty" Reeves.

Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Dr. Kelvin Moseley will be officiating.

A private family interment will be held in the afternoon at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Lorene Cannon Scholarship Fund, Seminole State College Educational Fund, P.O. Box 351, Seminole.

Younger ‘Sonny’ Carbitcher

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Younger B. Carbitcher are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at Carbitcher’s parent’s home south of Bowlegs.

Rev. Dorsey Nero, Elder Kelly Tiger and Dave Bowlegs will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at the Carbitcher Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Carbitcher passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Valley View Hospital in Ada at the age of 33.

He was born to Jimmy Carbitcher Jr., and Nancy Mae Deer in Talihina on March, 26, 1968.

Carbitcher married Karen Anya Factor in Dec. 1996.

He was employed with the Seminole Nation Development Authority in the maintenance department.

Carbitcher was a member of the Middle Creek #2 Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Carbitcher Jr.; and Monroe Carbitcher.

Carbitcher is survived by his mother, Nancy Mae Deer, Bowlegs; his wife, Karen Factor; four sons, Monroe, Jake, and Brandon Carbitcher, all of Konawa, and Jason Carbitcher, Seminole; three daughters, Michelle Burden, Wewoka, Tiffany Carbitcher, Konawa, and Elizabeth Carbitcher, Seminole; three brothers, Jimpsey Carbitcher, Dallas, Texas, Cooky Carbitcher, Seminole, and Rusty Carbitcher, Stroud; six sisters, Dora Hill, Seminole, Marion Brown, Bowlegs, Nettie Haney, Seminole, and Pat Larney, Norman.

Casket bearers are all nephews, cousins and friends.

Honorary bearers are all brothers-in-laws, Henry Yargee, Shawn Jones, and the SNDA Maintenance Department of Rivermist Casino.

Leslie Carpitcher

Funeral services for Leslie Carpitcher are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church.

Rev. Webster Fixico is set to officiate.

A wake service is set for 7 p.m. tonight at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church.

Burial is to follow at Rock Springs Indian Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Carpitcher died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at his home in Sasakwa at the age of 85.

He was born Aug. 4, 1916 in Sasakwa to Carbochee and Ellie Carpitcher.

He married Irene Carpitcher (Johnson) on Jan. 29, 1981 in Sasakwa.

Carpitcher worked in dry wall construction until he became disabled in 1985.

He was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church of Sasakwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Oct. 29, 2001; three brothers and one sister.

Carpitcher is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline Carroll

Funeral services for Pauline J. Patterson Carroll are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial is to follow at Garland Cemetery in Stigler under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Carroll died Sunday, April 14, 2002 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 83.

She was born Jan. 11, 1919 in Stillwell to John C. and Ada Mae (Trentham) Walkingstick.

She married Charles "Pat" Patterson. He preceded her in death.

Carroll then married Ulice Lee Carroll. Her also preceded her in death.

She was a retired barber and owned her own barber shop.

She attended the First Assembly of God Church.

Carroll was also preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Ohannesian and Dorothy Price; and two brothers, Clide and Clint Walkingstick.

She is survived by one sister, Calleen Chew of Fresno, Calif.

Wynonna Casey

Funeral services for Wynonna Casey were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.

Rev. Larry Chesser is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Casey died Thursday, April 11, 2002 at Sunset Estates in Maud at the age of 70.

She was born in Beggs to Jay Casey and Sudie Day.

She lived in Holdenville until she was 12.

Casey is survived by her sister, Pearl Tripp of Konawa and two brothers, John Casey of Seattle, Wash. and Glenn Casey of Oklahoma City.

Her nephews and cousins will serve as pallbearers.

Glen Catlett

Funeral services for Wewoka native Glen D. Catlett are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Enid.

Rev. Richard Fleig will officiate.

Burial will take place at 4 p.m. at Tate Mountain in Wewoka, under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Catlett died Thursday, Aug. 1 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid at the age of 62.

He was born to Luther and Birtie Self Catlett on April 14, 1940 in Wewoka.

As a young adult, he worked in the M&P and Jackson grocery stores in Wewoka.

In the 60s, Catlett worked in several oilfields across Oklahoma until 1967, at which time he went to work at Vance Air Force Base for Serve-Air, and later for Northrop working several jobs from mechanic’s helper to aircraft inspector until 1997, when he retired due to ill health.

Catlett was preceded in death by one son, Christopher; his parents; and two brothers, Doyle and Hoyt Catlett.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie, whom he married on March 12, 1982; one sister, Leoma Davidson; one son, Craig of Tulsa; two step-sons, David and Jeff Tidball; two step-daughters, Sonya Wichert and Gwen Tidball; and eight grandchildren.
