Hattie Orr

CHICKASHA – Funeral services for former Seminole teacher Hattie B. Orr were scheduled for this morning at First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha.

Rev. Barbara Hunt and Rev. Larry Hatfield were to officiate.

Interment was to follow at Martha Cemetery north of Altus under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Orr died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 in Chickasha at the age of 92.

She was born Jan. 17, 1910 in Altus to Frances Elmer and Cora Alice Munsell Barrett.

She graduated high school in Altus in 1927.

In 1931, Orr graduated from the University of Oklahoma and later received her masters in 1950.

Orr married Joseph Everett Orr on March 27, 1937 in Ardmore.

She taught school in Tulsa Union Consolidated Schools, Waurika, and Seminole.

She also taught third grade at the University of Oklahoma Laboratory School.

During Orr’s career in teaching, she also taught on the college level at the University of Oklahoma.

In 1965, she began teaching at the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, now USAO. She retired in 1974.

Orr was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and attended the First Presbyterian Church.

She was active in the Chickasha Literacy Council, Grady Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and her husband on Sept. 21, 1981.

Orr is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Wewerka of Carraroe, Co. Galway, Ireland and Marjorie Beck of Eugene Ore.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Tammy (Eeds) Heflin

Funeral services for Seminole native Tammy Lynette Heflin were held Monday at North Metro Baptist Church in Buford, Ga.

Dr. Frank Cox officiated.

The body was taken to Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas.

The family will receive friends there Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., after which interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Heflin died Thursday, June 27, 2002 after an extended illness.

She was 29.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Heflin of Buford, Ga.; two sons, Robert Heflin and Sean Heflin, both of Buford, Ga.; parents, Dannie and Peggy Eeds of Oklahoma; one sister, Carmen Vance of Texas; and three brothers, Todd Eeds of Arizona, Jerry Eeds of Oklahoma, and Scott Eeds of Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tammy Heflin Cancer Fund, First Union, 3500 Braselton Highway, Box 9793, Dacula, Ga., 30019.

Darla Heinzig

Funeral services for Darla Heinzig were held Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague.

Rev. A.E. "Doc" Webber officiated.

Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Heinzig died Saturday, March 20, 2002 in Shawnee at the age of 62.

She was born Aug. 31, 1939 in Paden to Forrest Claude and Clora (Argo) Littrell.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church, the Seminole Elks Lodge, and Birthday Club.

Heinzig worked as a DHS auditor for the State of Oklahoma.

She married Leon Heinzig on Sept. 23, 1955.

He preceded her in death on June 6, 1993.

Heinzig was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Rocky Heinzig.

She is survived by one son, Chris Heinzig of Wewoka; one daughter, Shelly Heinzig of Seminole; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Carlyn Allen of San Antonio and Dena Ellis of Paden; and a special friend, Tommy Harris of Prague.

Millie Hendrix

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Millie Gean Hendrix are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.

Rev. Bob Croucher of Faith Bible Church in Prague is set to officiate.

Burial is scheduled to follow in Paden Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Hendrix passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at her home in Aurora, Colo., at the age of 59.

She was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Seminole, to James Franklin and Hazel Beatrice (Cole) Martin.

Hendrix grew up near Seminole and attended Prairie Valley Schools.

She later lived in Edmond, where she attended Calvary Temple Church and sold tires for Goodyear.

She was married to Rick Hendrix in Las Vegas.

Hendrix was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Tammy Gorham.

She is survived by her husband; three sons Larry Lozer, Dallas, Texas, James Lozer, Edmond, and Randy Hendrix, Washington; six daughters LaDonna Sloniker, Edmond, Terri Weiler, Arlington, Texas, Tara Ory, Edmond, Sammie Adlous, Arlington, Texas, Kathy Johnson, Colorado, and Shelly Hendrix, Durant; her brother Hershel Martin, Bowlegs; her sister Edith Adams, Paden; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ina ‘Lynn’ Henley

Ina "Lynn" Henley of Blackwell died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 62 after a short illness.

Lynn was born to Jewell and Burton Burris on Jan. 6, 1940 in Wewoka.

She married James "Jim" Henley on July 6, 1957 in Wewoka, where the couple lived until 1965.

The couple moved to Blackwell after Jim graduated from the Highway Patrol Academy.

Lynn was the Tag Agent in Blackwell just short of 25 years.

Lynn was an honor student and was also selected for Girls’ State while attending high school in Wewoka.

She was a longtime active member of the Blackwell Chapter of Eastern Star #51 where she was Past Worthy Matron twice and held the position of Chaplain for 2002.

She has been a Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church in Blackwell, where she was an active member for the last 37 years.

Lynn loved her community and social involvement through the years, including the schools, campfire, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

She is survived by her husband, James R. "Jim" Henley; daughter, Cindy Henley Hess of Lewisville, Texas; son, J. Keith Henley and wife, Scarlet; granddaughter Emma Kate Henley of Tulsa; mother, Jewell Burris of Blackwell Nursing Home; sister, Nancy Kirk of husband, Phil of Mead; nephew, Bryan and wife, Brandy Kirk of Greenwood, Ark.; brother-in-law, Don and wife Cleta Henley of Antlers; nephew, Mike and wife, Debbie Henley of Antlers; Jack and Mary Lou Davis, Nellie Davis, Darilyn and Tom Williams of Wewoka, and Gary and Priscilla Dutton of Seminole; and numerous other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Burton Burris; maternal grandmother, Ila Mae Davis; maternal grandfather, Luther A. Davis; paternal grandmother, Myrtle Burris; paternal grandfather, Ira Burris; mother-in-law, Delores Orr; stepfather-in-law, Virgil Orr; and father-in-law, Burl Henley.

Especially remembered for her love of family and service to the community, Lynn will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 in the First Christian Church, 306 E. Coolidge Ave., Blackwell.

Rev. Jeff Koch and Rev. Lew Davis will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Mike Henley (nephew), Bryan Kirk (nephew), Phil Kirk (brother-in-law), Chester Black, Larry Cannon, Frank Dyer, Bruce Hammer, and Larry Logan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

Donations can be made to the Blackwell First Christian Church Building Fund or Blackwell Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #51 through Roberts and Son Funeral Home at (580)383-3737.

Alfred Henry

Funeral services for Seminole County native Alfred Dow Henry were held Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Eastman Factor officiated the services.

Interment followed at the Holdenville Cemetery, under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Henry died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee at the age of 56.

He was born to James Drew and Dosha Bell "Webb" Henry on Oct. 18, 1945 in Seminole County.

Henry was raised in Wewoka and attended school there.

He married Jeanie Tiger on Dec. 27, 1966 in Wetumka.

Henry worked for Acker Industries for many years as a machinist.

He also served with the Army National Guard for six years and with the Reserve for two years.

Henry is survived by three daughters, Beth Reed, Lousiana, Janet Herron, Earlsboro, and Mahaley Hunnicutt, Holdenville; four brothers, Marvin Henry, Herald Henry, Clayton Henry, and James Henry; four sisters, Connie McNeil, Donna Cook, Trish Sizemore, and Wanda Hailey; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chuck Reed, Tommy Herron, James Hunnicutt, Marvin Henry, Tony Henry, and James Henry.

O.H. Hickman

Graveside services for O. H. "Herschel" Hickman, father of Seminole resident Gary Hickman, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Services will be under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Rev. Orville White will officiate the services.

Hickman died Sunday, July 14, 2002 in Shawnee at the age of 95.

He was born to Lewis R. and Myrtle June (Lightfoot) Hickman on June 29, 1907 in Sparks.

Hickman was raised in Sparks, and attended and graduated from Sparks High School.

He married Ann McCants on April 12, 1941 in Holdenville.

Hickman worked in the oil fields after finishing school.

He then purchased a cattle ranch in 1941, and continued operating it until 1974.

Hickman was a long-time resident of Macomb.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, on May 1, 1998; his parents; and one sister, Geniveve Nall.

Hickman is survived by one daughter, Sue Cantrell, Shawnee; four sons, Harold Hickman, Woodward, Gary Hickman, Seminole, Robert Hickman, Oklahoma City, and Jay Hickman, Shawnee; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
