EL RENO – Funeral services for Wanda Nacoma Meadows, 84, of El Reno, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John V. Chennault, pastor officiating.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Garden, 100 W. Strothers, Seminole.
Serivices are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Meadows died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at Manor Care Nursing Center in Warr Acres.
She was born Feb. 10, 1918 in Belleville, Ark., Yell County, to James L. and Gertrude Hunt Hays.
She was a 1936 graduate of Wolf High School and a 1941 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University.
Mrs. Meadows married C. Chalon Meadows on May 24, 1942 in Seminole and taught elementary school in Meeker, Seminole, Pryor, El Reno, and Carlsbad, N.M.
She taught elementary school at Lincoln and Hillcrest Public Schools in El Reno for 17 years before she retired in 1983.
She enjoyed her family very much, and loved singing and playing the piano anytime, anywhere and various nursing homes. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Meadows is preceded in death by her husband, Chalon; her parents, J.L. and Gertrude Hays; and a brother, Fair Hays.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Slane and husband, Richard, of El Reno; a son, David Meadows and wife, Donita, of Desoto, Texas; three brothers, James L. Hays and wife, Carolyn, of Norman, Bob Hays of wife, Bonnie, of Lyon, Miss., and Mrs. Bonnie Fair Hays of Clarksdale, Miss.; a sister, Ruby Reece of Semiole; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Paul Melton Jr.
Word has been received of the death of Seminole native Paul Ray Melton Jr.
He died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in Rock Hill, S.C. at the age of 57.
Funeral services were held last week at the Bratton Funeral Home.
Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Melton was born Aug. 19, 1944 to Paul Ray Melton Sr. and Florence McElhany Melton.
He was a truck driver and was employed by J & A Construction. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Delorise Sibley Melton; three sons, Jeff Lewis of Charlotte, N.C., Donald Melton and Paul W. Melton, both of York, S.C.; his mother of Bristow; one sister, Nadine Melton of Bristow; and two grandchildren.
Kirk Merrell
EDMOND – Funeral services for Seminole native Kirk Merrell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Baggerly Funeral Home.
Rev. Charles Garrett is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Macomb under the direction of Baggerly Funeral Home.
Merrell died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at Mercy Hospital at the age of 40.
He was born Oct. 16, 1961 in Seminole to Conrad Dewitt and Carolee Summers Merrell.
He graduated from Seminole High School in 1980.
Merrell then attended Oklahoma State University Technical School.
He married LeeAnn Williams on June 22, 1991 and lived in Edmond since that time.
He attended Heritage Presbyterian Church in Edmond.
Merrell spent many years working car sales, before working in his own home improvement and remodeling service, Kaptain Home Improvement.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of the home; his mother of Seminole; one brother, Brett Merrell of Oklahoma City; and one sister, deShawn Merrell of Texarkana, Texas.
Fred Miller
Funeral services for Fred Henry Miller are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa.
Burial is under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Father Joachim, O.S.B., will officiate.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. tonight at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa.
Miller died Monday, July 8, 2002 in Ada at the age of 73.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1928 in Simi Valley, Calif., to Fred Henry Miller Sr. and Eleanor (Lay) Miller.
He married Annette Veda Green in 1952 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Miller moved to Sasakwa from LaCoste, Texas in 1992.
He was a member of the Saint Stephens Catholic Church in Holdenville.
Miller was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 25 years as a certified Nuclear Physicist and Drill Instructor.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 31, 1974 as Master Sergeant.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas with a degree in Finance and Accounting.
Miller was also a Master Certified Welder for the state of Ohio.
While living in Texas, Miller was a peanut farmer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa or St. Stephens Catholic Church in Holdenville.
He was preceded in his death by his parents and two grandchildren, Christopher Miller and Sean Michael Goggin.
He is survived by wife, Annette of the home; three sons, Richard Miller of Ada, Michael Miller of Iowa City, Iowa and Fred H. Miller III of Sasakwa; five daughters, MariAnne Miller of Seattle, Wash., Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mariette Stanson of Abilene, Texas, MariD’Anne Geffon of the Woodlands, Texas, MariEleanor Miller of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Colette Hardebeck of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Eleanor Brown of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
Casketbearers are Richard Miller, Michael Miller, Fred Miller, Curt Meeks, Don Stetson, Leo Kuestersteffen, Tony Kuestersteffen and Maurice Green.
Honorary bearers are John Womack, Matthew Kuestersteffen, Tommy Hudson and Don Thompson.
George Miller
Funeral services for George John Miller were scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Stout Chapel.
Dwight Gonzlas was to officiate.
Interment was to follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Miller died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at the Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 82.
He was born Dec. 17 in Holdenville to Roy & Marie (Johnson) Miller.
He had been a resident of Wewoka, living at the Oakridge Home since July 16, 1970.
Miller had worked with the maintenance crew of the Oakridge Home for many years.
He is survived by one brother, Roy Urbin Miller of Sun City, Ariz.; and his Oakridge family.
Raymond Miller
Funeral services for Raymond Miller are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.
Minster Frank Moppin is set to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Miller died Sudnay, March 24, 2002 in Holdenville at the age of 77.
He was born Nov. 28, 1925 in Coweta to Lewis and Martha Miller.
He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Miller attended Bacone for a number of years before enlisting in the United States Navy on March 31, 1944.
He received an honorable discharge in January of 1946.
He married Elizabeth Joshua on May 30, 1946.
She preceded Miller in death on April 13, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Miller, Ben Tiger, Charlie Johnson; and two sisters, Mary Perryman and Joyce Miller.
He is survived by one son, Sam Miller of the home; one sister, Marie Crittenden; and one brother, George Miller of Coweta.
Pallbearers are Dean Perryman, Lewis Perryman, Lawrence Miller, Eugene Miller, Mike Berryhill and Lewis Miller.
Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Perryman, Robert Miller, Henry Perryman, Scott Miller and Lewis Haynes.
