Funeral services for Seminole resident Bobby Lindberg Mills are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Doyle Long is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Mills died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 at Wewoka Nursing Center at the age of 75.
He was born Feb. 25, 1927 in the Little Community to Rufus Melvin and Bertie Mae (Arnold) Mills.
He married Pauline L. (Martin) Wilcox on March 9, 2001 in Maud.
Mills was a retired superintendent of gasoline plant construction.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II as a seaman first class serving from Sept. 8, 1944 to June 13, 1946.
He received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
Mills was a member of Seminole City Lodge #467-AF and AM for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Betty Joan (Gilkey) Mills on Feb. 6, 1966 and Iris Lynn (Patrick) Mills in 1996; and an infant son, James Lynn Mills.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Dwight Mills of Seminole; two stepsons, Buster Wilcox and J.D. Wilcox, both of Seminole; one stepdaughter, Diane Meeks of Noble; two brothers, Claud Mills of Midland, Texas and Walter Mills of San Angelo, Texas; one sister, Edna Parrish of Seminole; six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers are Gene West, Melvin Underwood, Rex Mills, Buster Wilcox, J.D. Wilcox, and Jackie Meeks.
Honorary bearers are Donnie Stewart, Darrel Williams, Kenneth Parish, and Dean Walker.
Floyd Mills
Funeral services for Wewoka native Floyd Eugene Mills were held Saturday at Wayne United Methodist Church.
Rev. Joe Davis officiated.
Burial followed at Hopping Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
Mills died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002 in Purcell at the age of 70.
He was born June 25, 1932 in Wewoka to William C. and Bessie Elizabeth Johnson Mills.
He worked in the oil fields for many years and at various other jobs throughout his life.
Mills moved to Wayne in the early 1970s and became active in Wayne United Methodist Church, where he played the organ for many years.
He was a regular member at the Wayne Senior Citizens Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mills is survived by many friends.
Pallbearers were Dale Arnold, Darryl Blessum, Jerry Smith, Ted Capps, Bob Fisher, and Reuel Leveridge.
Oleta Wade Minor
A memorial service for former Konawa resident Oleta Wade Minor is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Konawa Church of Christ.
Richard Winters will conduct the service, after which burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman.
Minor died Oct. 31, 2002, at her home in Norman at the age of 85.
She was born Aug. 13, 1917, at Atwood to Hurley and Jeanette McKinzie.
She grew up in Atwood and graduated high school there.
She attended College at East Central State Teachers College in Ada.
She worked in many retail businesses, including Khoury Furniture and Lumber, Beaver and Dunn Hardware, Haynes Hardware and Gibson’s Discount Store.
She had managed a clothing store and operated Wade Hardware in Konawa.
She served on numerous civic boards, including Pioneer Women’s Club of Konawa.
She was active in Konawa Church of Christ and the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada.
She moved to Norman in 1999 after the death of her second husband, Elmo Minor.
Her first husband, Nolan Wade died in Konawa on Jan. 24,1984.
Survivors include three sons, David of Tulsa, Denny of Healdton, and Dale of Norman; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, JD McCarty Center or Cancer for Kids Foundation.
Bobby ‘B.J.’ Minyard
Funeral services for former Seminole area resident Bobby Joe "B.J." Minyard are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.
Rev. Sam Hendry is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Minyard died Tuesday, May 14 at the age of 73.
He was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Dill City to Joe B. and Nora (Wallace) Minyard.
He attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he received a scholarship to play basketball.
Minyard worked over 30 years with National Life and Accident Insurance Company before retiring.
He later worked as a security guard at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech for eight years.
He retired from there to work with his wife in the arts and crafts business.
Minyard married Lou Ellen Marryman on Sept. 7, 1951 in Henryetta.
They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.
Minyard was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Randy Minyard of Harrah; two daughters, Lori Minyard of Shawnee and Marilynn Benton of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, J.B. Minyard of Pampa, Texas; and two sisters, Florine Thomas of Henryette and Denola McWilliams of Dill City.
Eva Lee Moncrief
KONAWA – Graveside funeral services for former Konawa resident Eva Lee Moncrief are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Matthew Brown, O.S.B., is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Moncrief died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002 in Tulsa at the age of 87.
She was born May 21, 1914 in Ada to Ned and Grace Johnson.
She was a 1933 graduate of Konawa High School.
Moncrief bought and sold antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by three sons, Michael Moncrief and David Moncrief, both of Tulsa, and Stephen Moncrief of Hawaii; one sister, Madge McAnally of Konawa; and two granddaughters.
Patsy Monroe
Funeral services for longtime Konawa resident Patsy S. Monroe are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Konawa.
Rev. Charley Henthorn will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Monroe died Monday, March 4, 2002 at her home at the age of 68.
She was born to William Ewell Martin and Lois (Hatcher) Martin on Oct. 7, 1933 in Konawa.
She married Alvin Monroe on May 4, 1973 in Anadarko.
Monroe was a former secretary at Kerr Lab in Ada, and a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Konawa, and was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Monroe was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James E. Martin; and one infant sister.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Monroe, of the home; two sons, Frank Anthony Brundridge, Norman, and Alvin Dean Monroe, Jr., Stillwater; two step-sons, Nelson Monroe, Monroe, Wash., and Alan Monroe, Ft. Worth, Texas; one step-daughter, Rita Monroe, Edmond; one brother, J.W. "Dub" Martin, Alburn, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
