Funeral services for Alma Ruth Stafford Moon are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Interment is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Moon died Tuesday, April 30 in Durant at the age of 60.
She was born April 12, 1942 in Holdenville to John and Juanita Hampton Stafford.
She was raised in Holdenville and Yeager and attended Yeager Schools.
Moon married William Kenneth Moon in Ada on March 19, 1964. They lived in Holdenville following their marriage.
He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1998.
Moon was also preceded in death by her mother and father; one brother, Dub Stafford; and two sisters, Wynona Rinkle and Marie Burkhart.
She is survived by three daughters, Shelly Bowman of Durant, and Shawnette Blaylock and Shannon Moon, both of Holdenville; one son, Stacy Moon of Shawnee; four brothers, Billy Stafford and Johnny Stafford, both of Oklahoma City, Jackie Stafford of Moore and Ronnie Stafford of Holdenville; two sisters, Virginia Smith of Wewoka and Barbara Deason of Moore; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Grant Stafford, Dewayne Cooper, Ronnie Dean Stafford, Ronald Wayne Wiseman, Terry Smith and Chad Smith.
E.B. Moore
OKLAHOMA CITY – Funeral services for E.B. Moore were held Sunday at Lindsay Methodist Church.
Moore died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Mercy Hospital at the age of 87.
He was born April 4, 1915 in Holdenville.
He was a former band teacher at Wewoka.
Ray Moore
Funeral services for Ray Dean Moore are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Rev. W.E. Cooper of First Baptist Church of Lima is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Moore died Saturday, June 8, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 48.
He was born Aug. 8, 1953 in the Works Addition of Lima to Jonathan Moore and Ula Mae Hardeman.
He attended school at Lima Public Schools, where he graduated in 1971.
Moore was active in basketball during his school years.
He worked at Commercial Brick for four years. He also worked as a ranch hand for Marvin Osborne for 20 years.
He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church.
Moore was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.
He is survived by his father of Fresno, Calif.; one daughter, Dana Johnson of Shawnee; a special friend, Glenda Warrior of Wewoka; and two brothers, Glendale Price of Seminole and Jimmy Moore of Oklahoma City.
Rena Moreland
Funeral services for Wewoka’s oldest citizen, 102 year old Rena Moreland, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church, Wewoka.
Reverends Larry Jones and Dwight Gonzales will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
A lady whose life spanned three centuries and whose direct descendants number 134, passed over to meet her Lord while a resident of Elmwood Nursing Center, Wewoka, on Sunday, July 28, 2002, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and friends.
She was born Nov. 16, 1899 in Fayetteville, Ark. to Marion Franklin "Frank" Haning and Cleopatra Annie Bolyne Davis Haning.
Her family came in a covered wagon to Indian Territory in 1902 and settled in the Wewoka area.
Her parents were Charter Members of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church north of Wewoka, where she was baptized at the age of 9 and remained a lifelong member.
She attended Sams School and married J.W. "Bill" Moreland in 1916.
They lived here most of their married life with time spent in Kansas and California during the Depression and Dust Bowl years.
She and her husband raised their eight children and ran a farm and cattle business, which she continued to operate following Bill’s death in 1966.
Her family fondly remembers her driving the cattle truck during round-up; her delicious home-cooked meals; her love of travel; her beautiful poetry; and her care and concern for others, whether family or not.
She is survived by seven of her eight children, Jane and Clifton Houser, Wewoka, Lorene and Joe Romano, Missouri City, Texas, Marion and Jack Cain, Wilson, James and Betty Moreland, Abbeville, La., Leeta and Jay Drewry, Lafayette, La., Jackie and Patsy Moreland, Seminole, and Nelda Jo Martin, Sand Springs; 22 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 50great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; one daughter, Gussie Coleen at age 2 ½; her parents; and all of her siblings, A.A. Haning, W.J. Haning, Evie Brooks, Ollie Brooks, Cleo Malone, Opal Williams, and Lottie Nance.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Jerry Morphis
A memorial service for Jerry Morphis is set for Saturday at the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Rev. Jim Freeman is set to officiate.
Morphis died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002 at his sister’s home in Wewoka at the age of 62.
He was born Nov. 3, 1939 to Ted and Ila Morphis.
He began his career at Thomas Electric in Wewoka and was a self-employed electrician for oil fields for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Wayne.
Morphis is survived by one son, Jerry Morphis Jr. of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Gay Lemons of Kansas City, Mo. and Kristen Hunphries of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Audrey Miller of Blackwell, Darlene Julian and Barbara Shackelford, both of Wewoka, and Sue Larney of Holdenville; two brothers, Herban Morphis of Wewoka and Alan Morphis of Newton, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jane Burkhart Morrow
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Jane Burkhart Morrow are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Memorial Chapel, 700 Jefferson, Van Buren, Ark.
Burial will follow at Shamrock Cemetery near Cove City, Ark., under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Morrow died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, in an Arkansas hospital.
She was born Sept. 7, 1952, in Seminole, to Oather James "OJ" and Alpha Lorene (Vaughn) Burkhart.
She attended Seminole County schools before moving to Arkansas.
She was a former licensed practical nurse and a homemaker, as well as a longtime member of Shamrock Community Church.
She married Gary Morrow 33 years ago; he survives her of the home in Cedarville.
She is also survived by one daughter, Lynn Shelly, Cedarville; one son, Gary Morrow II, Natural Dam, Ark.; three sisters, Sue Perryman, Shawnee, Louise Burkhart, Cedarville, and Rita Grisham, Seminole; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan and Lucy Jane Shelly, all of Cedarville.
Morrow was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Pallbearers will include Ronny Jordan, Roger Jordan, Mark Kattich, Greg Shelly, Brandon Shelly and Gary Morton II.
Lonnie Mullinax
Wewoka resident Lonnie Joe Mullinax died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the Wewoka Nursing Center at the age of 73.
No services are scheduled.
He was born to Joseph Mullinax and Rebecca (Brumlow) Mullinax on Jan. 2, 1929 in Holdenville, they both preceded him in death.
Mullinax married Joyce Edmunds on June 12, 1949 in Holdenville.
He was a retired insurance salesman, and a veteran of the Korean War.
Mullinax is survived by his wife, Joyce (Edmunds) Mullinax; one son, Larry Mullinax, Norman; one daughter, Linda O'Donnell, Bixby; and three grandchildren.
Betty Jo Myatt
Funeral services for Betty Jo Myatt are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Wesley Martin is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow in Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Myatt died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at Valley View Regional Hospital at the age of 76.
She was a longtime Konawa area resident.
She was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Konawa to Delmar Grant Irby and Clio Gladys (Bowerman).
Myatt married James Andrew Tillman II in 1945 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death in 1952.
She married Carl Myatt in 1957 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1997.
She owned and operated Jo’s Café, The Sweet Shop, and The Steak House, all in Maud.
Myatt was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one stepson; one stepdaughter; one great-grandson; one brother; and one sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Waldron of Konawa and Margaret Tillman of Newalla; four sons, James Andrew Tillman III of Fayetteville, Ga., Joseph Daniel Hope-Tillman of Olathe, Kan., Donald Tillman of Lawton, and Eddie Tillman of Konawa; one stepdaughter, Shirley Adkins of Chickasha and one stepson, Ed Myatt of Konawa; two brothers, Jesse Irby of Warr Acres and David Irby of Blanchard; four sisters, Beverly Towley of Ralls, Texas, Patricia McGuire of Bristow, and Sandra Atkinson and Lynda McCraw, both of Konawa; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
