Funeral services for Thelma V. Norman are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa.
Rev. Mitch Williams and Rev. James Williams are set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Norman died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma Center at the age of 76.
She was a lifelong Konawa resident. She was born Nov. 9, 1925 in Konawa to Oscar and Lula Mandy (Heard) Hankins.
She married David Crockett Freeman on Jan. 1, 1941 in Tecumseh.
He preceded her in death on June 14, 1964.
Norman later married Ray Norman on Nov. 24, 1971 in Shawnee.
He preceded her in death on July 6, 1998.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Konawa.
Norman was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; four sisters, Dessie Bailey, Effie Blackwood, Clessie Hankins, and Pearl Hankins; one brother, Curtis Hankins; one granddaughter, Sherry Freeman; one grandson, Russell Merriman; and one great-grandson, Billy Joe Sample.
She is survived by three sons, David C. Freeman of Palm Springs, Calif., and Gary Freeman and Danny Freeman, both of Konawa; three daughters, Mildred Motley of Kingfisher, Marie Deffenbaugh of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Julia Merriman of Konawa; three sisters, Opal Head of Konawa, Agnes Mocabee of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Bertha Gordon of Miami; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons and nephews will serve as casket bearers.
John Novotny
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident John Novotny are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate.
Novotny went to be with his heavenly Father Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the age of 59.
He was born on May 22, 1942 in Prague to Charlie Novotny and Jewel (Jonata) Novotny.
He graduated from Paden High School in 1961 where he held the longtime record of pole vault and long jump.
Novotny was a self-employed cement contractor for over 30 years.
He was known in Seminole and several surrounding counties as the best "Cement Contractor Around."
His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, and dancing.
He won many special trophies as a worthy competitor, especially in bow hunting.
He was a great outdoors man.
Throughout his years he had many friends he went hunting and fishing with.
He loved to drive his 1961 antique Ford tractor.
He grew a large garden each year and would always give fresh vegetables to many friends.
He loved to go dancing with his wife, Phyllis.
Novotny was also known for his tremendous strength, courage, and his kind and gentle ways.
He was a good man.
Novotny was raised Catholic and served as an altar boy for many years at the National Shrine of the Infant Jesus in Prague.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Novotny.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Phyllis Sherwin of the home.
He is also survived by five sisters and three brothers, Dorothy and George Kroos and Jane and Jim McGill of Prague, Louise and Raz Wilkerson and Jean and Lester Quary of Meeker, Nancy and Tony Cagle of Shawnee, Frank and Doris Novotny of Prague, Jim Novotny and Don Novotny, both of Seminole.
He is survived by 19 niece and nephews and their families.
Madelaine Nuckolls
Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Madelaine Rose Kuckolls are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.
Rev. Wayne Taylor will officiate the services.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, and will be under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Nuckolls died Wednesday May 22, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 79.
She was born to Ali Gattolliat and Maria (Vasseur) Gattolliat on June 26, 1922 in Lac Le Biche, Alberta, Canada.
She married John Winston Nuckolls on Oct. 3, 1947 in San Rafael, Calif.
Nuckolls was a homemaker, and moved to Maud from Midwest City in 1967.
She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Air Force Women痴 Auxiliary, and she delivered Meals on Wheels for Project Heart in Maud.
Nuckolls was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Johnny Ross Nuckolls.
She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; three sons, Martin Nuckolls and Henry Nuckolls, both of Irving, Texas, and George Nuckolls, Seminole; one sister, Carmon Maki, Rochester, Alberta, Canada; one brother, Roland Gattolliat, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Hazel (Thompson) O誰eal
Graveside funeral services for Hazel D. (Thompson) O誰eal are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.
Chris Stinnett is set to officiate.
The service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
O誰eal died Friday, May 17, 2002 at Unity Health Center North at the age of 88.
She was born Jan. 24, 1914 in Osage to Silas Williard and Lavada (Smith) Thompson.
She married Delmer F. O誰eal on May 5, 1932 in Wewoka. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1993.
O誰eal was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by one daughter, Delma McCown of Shawnee; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Fleeta Noble of Tulsa.
Evelyn O誰eal
Funeral services for Evelyn O誰eal, mother of Seminole resident John O誰eal, were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.
Rev. Kirsten Davis and Pastor Marion Hadsell officiated the services.
Burial followed at the Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
O誰eal died Saturday, April 20, 2002 in Tecumseh at the age of 75.
She was born to Loyd W. and Velcie (Cagle) Roberts on Feb. 17, 1927 in Ashland.
O誰eal grew up on her parent痴 farm in Bethel, and attended Tecumseh High School where she graduated in 1945.
On April 14, 1946, she married Jimmie O誰eal and the couple resided in Tecumseh.
O誰eal worked for Gibson痴 in Shawnee for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmie, on May 18, 2000; and one sister, Alene Bowlby.
O誰eal is survived by her son, John O誰eal, Seminole; two brothers, Loyd Roberts, and Leroy Roberts, both of Shawnee; and three grandchildren.
Dolores Orr
Funeral services for Dolores Celestine Orr are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel.
Doug Arnold is set to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Orr died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 87.
She was born Sept. 17, 1914 to John Walter and Emma Mariana (Abel) Tucker.
She graduated from Butner High School in 1931.
Following graduation, Orr attended and completed her degree at Draughn痴 Business School.
She was a member of the Butner Baptist Church.
She lived her entire life in the Butner community, Wewoka and Seminole areas.
Orr operated her own grocery store in Butner for about 10 years.
She later worked at Jackson痴 Grocery Store and M&P Grocery Store in Wewoka.
She was named a "Salesperson of the Week" by the Wewoka Chamber of Commerce in 1970.
Orr hosted Halloween parties in the Butner community.
She married Burl Henley in 1934. He preceded her in death.
She married Virgil Orr on April 30, 1955 in Shawnee.
Orr was also preceded in death by one sister, Jewell Dyer and one brother, Orval Eugene Tucker.
She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Donald Henley of Antlers and Jim Henley of Blackwell; four stepchildren, Janice Orr of Sand Springs, Victor Orr of Choctaw, Don Orr of Wewoka, and Ronald Orr of Tulsa; three grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Johnnie Orr, Keith Henley, Mike Henley, Ernest Moore, Sonny Miller, and "Ham" Wright.
