Funeral services for Goldie Mae Phillips are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Rev. Mitch Williams and Richard Winters are set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Phillips died Friday, June 7, 2002 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 91.
She was born in Sasakwa on May 8, 1911 to Thomas and Mamie (Miller) Scroggins.
She married Hubert Raymond Phillips on Sept. 8, 1927 in Konawa. He preceded her in death.
Phillips was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Marlin Edward Phillips; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Faye Minter of Swanton, Oho; three sons, Raymond "Buck" Phillips of Ada and V.H. "Bill" Phillips and Hubert N. Phillips Jr. of Konawa; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Etta Howard of Holdenville.
Casket bearers are Harold Kinder, Harold Raper, Leo Lane, Junior Price, Orville Isaacs, and Herb Walker.
Earnest Lavine "Ernie" Pitts
Former Cromwell-area resident Earnest Lavine "Ernie" Pitts will be buried later this month at Arlington National Cemetery.
Pitts qualifies for the honor because of his distinguished war record, which includes five Purple Hearts.
He died Sept. 25 in Oklahoma City.
Honorary memorial services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 21 at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, DC.
A memorial service was also held earlier, Sept. 28, at Draper Park Christian Church in Oklahoma City, under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.
Pitts was born June 5, 1925, in Okemah to Earnest A. and Emma (Carroll) Pitts.
He graduated from Excelsior High School, at that time near Cromwell and Struggleville.
He joined the US Army and served in World War II during the Normandy Campaign, the Northern France Campaign and the Germany Campaign.
He was awarded the Bronze Battle Star during each campaign, the Good Conduct medal, five Purple Hearts with clusters, Combat infantry badge, European Theater ribbon, Presidential Award and First Scout Out.
He was honorably discharged at age 20 with 100 percent disability.
Six years later, he owned and operated two south Oklahoma City service stations and auto mechanic garages with his two sons.
He worked for Gilardi’s Pizza for a time, then, after attempting retirement, he went to work for Wetherbee Electric, where he finally retired June 7.
He was a member of the Full Gospel Church, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny Kevin Pitts; brother Fred Pitts; sisters, Gladys Jackson, Lavada Love and Lee Powers.
Surivors include his wife, Dee, of the home; one son, Roger Dennis Pitts, Edmond; a stepson, Jeff Harris, Oklahoma City; one stepdaughter, Kelly McCrink, Berlin, NJ; sisters Mae (Tyson) Montgomery of Pauls Valley, Nora Roseberry, Etters, Pa., and Wilma Claxton, Norman; one brother, Bob Pitts, Noble; five grandchildren, three stepgrandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be sent to the American Legion, DAV or the Human Society.
Mary Pitts
MIDWEST CITY – Graveside funeral services for Maud native Mary Joseph Sparkman Pitts are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Arlington Memory Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast.
Pitts died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at the age of 81.
She was born Aug. 19, 1920 in Maud to Bert and Cora Sparkman.
She married Clarence Pitts on Sept. 8, 1941.
Pitts retired from Western Electric in 1981.
She is survived by her daughters, Kay Scotten, Nancy Graham, Paula Bryen, Gale Christopher, and Anita Pitts; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Sparkman; and one sister, Sadie Brasch.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her siblings, Vera, Velma, and Augusta.
Harold ‘Ronnie’ Plumlee
Funeral services for Harold "Ronnie" Plumlee were scheduled for 10 a.m. this morning at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Steve Cline was set to officiate.
Burial was to follow at Midlawn Cemetery in Union, Mo. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Plumlee died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 61.
He was born Sept. 19, 1940 in Seminole to Charles and Lillian (Willis) Plumlee.
He married Patricia J. (Chase) on Aug. 14, 1965 in Seminole.
Plumlee was a retired leadman for Phillips 66 Pipeline.
He was veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Plumlee graduated from New Lima High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Shirley Plumlee; and an infant grandson, Brandon Lee Plumlee in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Brent Wayne Plumlee of Union, Mo.; one brother, Melvin Plumlee of Seminole; two sisters, Charlene Wilson of Moore and Beth Self of Seminole; and three grandchildren.
Bonnie Poe
Funeral services for Bonnie (Adams) Poe are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Rev. James Shiflett and Rev. Bill Snyder are set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Poe died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 at her home at the age of 57.
She was born Nov. 21, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. to George Ulan and Irene Marie (Ervin) Adams.
She married Donald Poe on June 21, 1963 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Poe was co-pastor of Seminole Foursquare Church along with her husband.
She was also a homemaker and worked for an information handling service in Denver, Colo.
She was a member of Seminole Foursquare Church.
Poe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of the home; one son, Kevin Poe of Carrollton, Texas; one daughter, Karla Sibayan of Denver, Colo.; three brothers, Jim Adams of Phoenix, Ariz., Bill Adams of Jackson, Mo., and Terry Adams of Wickenburg; and six grandchildren.
Pall bearers are Joshua Sibayan, Brandon Poe, Donnald West, Anthony West, and Adam West.
Ivan Pokrefky
Graveside services for Seminole resident Ivan Charles Pokrefky were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Maple Grove Cemetery.
The services are under the direction of Bill Eisenhower Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
Pokrefky died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at the age of 69.
He was to John Pokrefky and Mildred (Umlar) Pokrefky on Oct. 5, 1932 in Detroit, Mich.
Pokrefky married Bertha Heffley on Jun 21, 1994 in Fort Smith, Ark.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Seminole.
Pokrefky was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of the home; one son, Dale Sanders, Lawton; four daughters, Tammy Howard, Seminole; Lisa Weems and LeAnn Sanders, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Louise Mankus, Indiana; one brother, Melvin Pokrefky, Michigan; and eight grandchildren.
Elmer Pompey Sr.
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Elmer Pompey, Sr., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.
Brother Emmett Elbert will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery, west of Wewoka, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Pompey died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home at the age of 81, following his hospitalization at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born to Cevus Pompey and Ann Mae Barkus on Sept. 11, 1920 in Little River.
Pompey was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and fought as a gunner in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and Philippine Liberation, being awarded two bronze stars for his participation.
He was a successful entrepreneur following the war, living in the Los Angeles area, where he owned and operated a shoeshine shop and fast food restaurant until he returned to Oklahoma in 1974.
Pompey was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Melton Pompey.
He is survived by one son, Elmer Pompey Jr., Wewoka; and two sisters, Lola Mae Pompey, and Stella Mae Pompey
Jim Poole
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Jim Warren Poole are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Wewoka.
Revs. Dan Anderson and Winford Lowe will officiate.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Poole died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at Seminole Municipal Hospital.
He was born to Albert L. Poole and Walsie Lou Belford Poole on March 30, 1920 in Placious, Texas.
Poole graduated from old Butner School in 1938, and married Lucille Bray on April 12, 1938 in Ft. Smith, Ark.
He farmed in Seminole County and later worked as a dozer operator for Vic Fronterhouse.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, Poole returned home and worked in the bull pasture and for Continental Oil Company until 1964.
He owned and operated the Poole Furniture and Hardware Store in Wewoka until 1975.
Poole is survived by his wife, Lucille, of the home; three children, Jerry Wayne Poole, Woodward, Lynda Lou Holsten, Eufaula and Mary Ann Chambers, Holdenville; one brother, Bob Poole, Houston, Texas; one sister, Jean Goode, Seminole; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
