YORBA LINDA, CALIF – Funeral services for Jack Porter, a Varnum High School graduate, were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at Memory Garden Memorial Park Chapel at the age of 69.
Porter died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at the age of 69 from emphysema.
He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Alma Porter and two brothers, Rudolph and Eugene.
He is survived by his wife of the home; and one son, Kevin Porter of Yorba Linda, Calif.
James Postoak
Funeral services for Sasakwa resident James Gayle Postoak, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Rev. Leon Postoak and Rev. Frank Moppin are set to officiate.
A prayer service was held Tuesday evening at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.
He was moved to the church today for a wake service at 7 p.m.
Interment will follow at Postoak Family Cemetery, southeast of Sasakwa, under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Postoak died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at OU Medical Center-Everett Tower in Oklahoma City the age of 61.
He was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Claremore to Eli Postoak and Elizabeth (Davis) Postoak, and was a lifelong resident of Sasakwa.
He attended schools there and in Dallas and was a retired upholsterer, last working for Atlas Furniture Company until his retirement.
Postoak was a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard until his honorable discharge, and was an active member of the Sasakwa American Legion Post #284.
He is survived by his son, Dexter Postoak, Shawnee; and his brothers and sisters, Leon "Chippie" Postoak of Oklahoma City, George Postoak and Maxine Postoak of Sasakwa, Thompson Postoak and Lea Postoak of Seminole, Christine Postoak of Shawnee, David Postoak of Tulsa, and Paul Postoak, Wewoka.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Lillie Eulene Bowlegs; one daughter, Deidre Postoak; his parents, Eli and Elizabeth Postoak; and five brothers and sisters, Leonard, Lyman, Amos and Margaret Postoak and Lucinda Postoak Thomas.
Pallbearers will include Earl Davis, Franklin Coody, Jimmie Joe Harjo, Lloyd Lee Harjo, Vernon Harjo, Jimmy Wayne Taylor, Jamie Postoak and Edward Postoak.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Reich, Allen Gean, Calvin Taylor, Wilbert Harjo, Gilbert Harjo, Melvin Thomas and Louis Harjo, Jr.
Emma Potts
Funeral services for Wewoka native Emma Jean Potts are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Elder Harvey Stockeo will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Potts died Friday, June 14, 2002 at the age of 69.
She was born to Rev. Jumbo J. Jackson and Elizabeth Bruner Jackson on April 10, 1933 in Wewoka.
Potts received her education in Seminole County Public Schools and graduated from Douglas High School in 1952.
She moved her family to Centereach, Long Island, N. Y. in 1972.
Potts worked in the nursing field for over 25 years, working with the hospice care teams.
She became an evangelist and missionary, being on call whenever and wherever needed.
Potts was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rev. Gary L. Johnson; one grandchild, Emmanuel; one sister, Victoria Gidding; and three brothers, L.C., John, and Victor Jackson.
She is survived by eight children, Jerry, Colleen, Beverly, E-O-Tree, Andre, Vernatene, Patrice, and Royce; five sisters, Lillie, Lorraine, Edna, Evelyn, and Celesta; one brother, Michael; 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Potts’ nephews.
\Honorary pallbearers are Henry Gordon, Harvey Reese, Eugene Campbell, David Carolina, Ted McDonald, and Clyde Spencer.
Rev. Herbert Prater
Funeral services for Rev. Herbert O. Prater are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Dr. Robert Ross is set to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Prater died Monday, May 20, 2002 at his home following a 3 ½ year battle with cancer.
He was 71.
He was born Aug. 9, 1930 in Rosedale to Ola and O.B. Prater.
Prater graduated from Corpus Christi High School, the University of Corpus Christi, and Southwestern Baptist Theology Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and was licensed on Sept. 13, 1950.
He became an ordained gospel minister on Sept. 8, 1957.
He retired on Sept. 21, 1997 after serving over 21 years as pastor of Midway Baptist Church, south of Wewoka.
Following his retirement, Prater served as interim pastor at Harvey Road Baptist Church, Vamoosa Baptist Church, Penn West Baptist Church, Bowlegs First Baptist Church and Atwood First Baptist Church.
He accepted a call to full-time ministry at Atwood First Baptist Church on June 17, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Patti of the home; four children, David Prater of Moore, Garry Prater of Burleson, Texas, Carol Unruh of Durant, and Christine Russell of Grandview, Texas; two stepchildren, Rhonda Rogers of Amarillo, Texas and Rev. Craig Price of Norman; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother.
Prater was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Bob Cross, Paul Loeffelholz, Charles Cotterman, Billy Weaver, Gerald Hill, and Ferril Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers are the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group of Seminole County, golfing buddies, Roberts Drug Crew, Dr. Michael Wiens, and Warren Cunningham.
Richard Prater
Funeral services for Richard Prater are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Chaplain Richard Lutz is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Prater died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at his home at the age of 56.
He was a longtime Seminole resident and attended Tecumseh Schools and Harjo Schools.
He was born June 12, 1946 in Vernon County, Mo to Lee Ray and Lorraine (Gray) Prater McDonald.
Prater worked with Asbestos Workers Union in Oklahoma City and retired from the military.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.
He was active with the veteran’s administration.
Prater was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Lora Rachelle Prater of Dunedin, Fla.; and two brothers, Don Prater of Shawnee and James Kimbrell Prater of Enid.
Ruth Prather
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Ruth Prather are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church.
Prather died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 in Vista, Calif.
She had lived in Seminole for 67 years before she and her husband moved to California.
She was born Dec. 4, 1909 near Stillwater to Ben and Maggie Ramsey.
Prather is survived by her husband; one son, Garry; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Lindsay of Yukon.
Delbert Presley
Funeral services for Seminole native Delbert Lee Presley are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Little Cemetery Chapel in Little.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Baggerley-South Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.
Revs. Robert Mendenhall and Kevin Mosley will officiate the services.
Visitation will be tonight at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Presley died Monday, July 15, 2002 in Norman at the age of 75.
He was born to King and Edna (Hodges) Presley on Nov. 11, 1926 in Seminole.
Presley married Velma (Kidd), and was a concrete worker by trade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma Presley; one sister, Dorothy Young; and one brother, Doyle Presley.
Presley is survived by two sons, Lonnie Presley and Mike Presley, both of New Lima; and three sisters, Darlene Mendenhall, St. Charles, Mo., Donna Wallace, Seminole, and Doris Sanders, Norman.
Pallbearers are Danny Wallace, Dewayne Wallace, Dale Wallace, Gilbert Foster, Fred Presley, and Leon Short.
Loree Eva Price
Loree Eva Price of Cromwell died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the age of 42 following an extended illness.
A committal service will be held in a private family ceremony at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Price was born Oct. 21, 1959 in Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Cragle of the home; one son, Joshua Hightower of the home; one stepson, Robert Cragle; mother, Joyce Anderson of Tulsa; one brother; one sister; and one grandchild.
