Herman Wells

Graveside funeral services for Herman N. Wells are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Jennings Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Wells died Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 94.

He was born June 13, 1907 near Hallett to George N. and Rozetta (Chapman) Wells.

He married Mary (Wolfe) Wells on July 9, 1928.

Wells worked for Carter Oil Company, now known as Exxon, for 43 years.

He retired in 1969.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Wells was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.

He was a 32 degree Mason.

He was also a lifetime member of Scottish Rite and American Legion Post 204.

Wells is survived by his wife of the home.

Ivial "Gene" Wells

HUTCHINSON, KANS. – Graveside funeral services by Fort Riley Honor Guard for Ivial Gene Wells are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairlawn Burial Park.

Rev. Kim Biery is set to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Elliot Mortuary of Hutchinson.

Wells died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at Hutchinson Hospital at the age of 70.

He was born Nov. 9, 1931 in Hutchinson to Richard Ival and Mary Reed Wells.

He was a retired plant supervisor and tooling engineer for Hayes Axle.

Wells was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge #2516 of Seminole, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #982.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He served in World War II and Korea as a paratrooper. He also served in the Kansas National Guard.

Wells married Beverly A. Hiebert on Feb. 20, 1978.

He was preceded in death by one son, Edward Wells; one brother, Don Wells; and two sisters, Nadine Osenbaugh and Pat White.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Scott Wells of Eureka, Kans.; one daughter, Lorene Brown of Topeka, Kans.; one brother, Richard Wells of Hutchinson, Kans.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Beryl Werrell

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Beryl (Simpson) Werrell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.

Dr. Paul Calmes is set to officiate, and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.

Werrell died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at a local hospital, at the age of 94.

She was born Dec. 12, 1907, in Fitzhugh, to Charles Napoleon and Margaret Lee (Crawford) Simpson.

Werrell graduated from Fitzhugh High School in 1923, then majored in business education and graduated from East Central State College in Ada.

She taught typing and shorthand in Bowlegs, and taught on an Indian reservation in Arizona during the 1930s.

Werrell also worked for the Seminole County Treasurer’s Office in Wewoka.

She married William Matthew "Bill" Werrell on Aug. 14, 1939.

Werrell was a member of First Baptist Church, and a former member of the Rose Unit of the Shawnee Garden Club and a Garden Club council member.

She lived in Seminole from 1939 to 1951.

Werrell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Betty Oliver; two brothers, Leon Ivor Simpson and C.S. Simpson; and two grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter Nova Jean Lowe, Shawnee; three granddaughters and their husbands; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one nephew and two nieces.

The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after the service.

Bill J. West

Graveside funeral services for Bill J. West are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Bob Anderson is set to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

West died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 70.

He was born Sept. 25, 1931 in Seminole to Effie Marie (Atkinson) and Henry Martin West Sr.

He married Claudetta (May) on Dec. 21, 1957 in Seminole.

West was a retired self-employed carpenter.

He was a corporal in the United State Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Martin West Sr.; his mother, Effie Marie (Atkinson) West Smith; one brother, Henry Martin West Jr. in 1982; and infant sister, Anna Mae West; a half-brother, Daniel West; two brothers-in-law, Devoe Maye and Bill Collier; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Whittern and Aretta May.

He is survived by his wife, Claudetta (May) West of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Peggy West of Seminole; one brother, Jay Lee West of Klamath Falls, Ore.; one sister, Bettie (West) McCollum of Homeland, Calif.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Obie and Cass Orborn and Shirley and Charlie Osborn, all of Wetumka, Rodger and Carolyn May, LaDonna and Jim Nutter, Jeanie and Gerald Jones, Shirley Maye, and Mary and Ron Brawdy, all of Seminole, Jerry May of Ft. Smith, Ark., Judy Collier of Wewoka, Janie and Wayne Mize of Earlsboro, and Danny and Carolyn Whittern of Tecumseh; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends who loved him very much.

Casket bearers are Tommy May, Randy Osborn, Steve Whittern, and Donnie Collier.

Marie Westbrook

Funeral services for Marie Westbrook were held this morning at Wetumka Cemetery.

Bob Nichols and Rev. Don Williamson officiate.

Services were under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka.

Westbrook died Friday, March 29, 2002 in Seminole at the age of 80.

She was born March 31, 1921 in Wetumka to William Jackson and Ethel Hurley Hicks.

She was raised in the Wetumka area and was a graduate of Wetumka High School.

Westbrook married Glen Nichols.

He preceded her in death.

She then married Ulysses Westbrook.

The first made their home in Wetumka, but spent the past forty years in Seminole.

He currently resides in a Norman nursing facility.

Westbrook is survived by her husband of Norman; her mother of Wetumka; four children, Richard Nichols of Lake Charles, La., Robert Nichols of Tulsa, Ann Harper of Earlsboro, and Glenda Clark of Wetumka; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Red Hicks of California; and one sister, Imogene Wackerley of Del City.

Everett White

Funeral services for Everett Horton White are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church.

Rev. Doyle O. Long is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

White died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 at Pioneer Nursing Home at the age of 82.

He was born May 27, 1919 in Lacona, N.Y. to George and Addie (Horton) White.

He married Donia (Bolton) White on Aug. 1, 1947 in Sun Valley, Calif.

White was a retired oilfield truck driver for C&J Trucks and worked as a construction truck driver in California before movie to Seminole.

He was a TEC-5 in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a member of Assembly of God church.

White is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Michael Everett White of Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Patricia Lorraine Hazlett of Folsom, Calif.; one brother, Paul White of New York; two sisters, Mable Dana of Lacona, N.Y., and Virginia Larock of New Jersey; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

George White

Graveside funeral services for former Seminole resident George Hamilton White are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery.

Rev. Mitch Williams is set to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

White died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 in Henderson, Texas at the age of 41.

He was born April 11, 1961 in Minneapolis, Minn. To Clovis Lewis and Judy Yvonne (Lene) White.

He married Debbie Crawford White on Nov. 24, 1997 in Fairfield, Texas.

White was a heavy equipment operator for Capco Contractors.

He was a member of Operating Engineers of Texas Organizations.

He was preceded in death by his mother of May 29, 2002; his younger brother, Mark Adam White; and his stepdaughter, Milissa Westlund.

White is survived by his father of Seminole; his wife of the home; two sons, Lionel Jason White and Ethan Phillip White, born Aug. 13, 2002; one stepson, J.D. Crawford; and four brothers, Greg White, Troy White, Trent White, and Nickolas White, all of Seminole.
