HUTCHINSON, KAN. – Graveside funeral services for Seminole native Charles E. Williams are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Fairlawn Burial Park.
Pastor Frederick J. Obold is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Elliot Mortuary.
Williams died Friday, March 29, 2002 at his home at the age of 71.
He was born Jan. 2, 1931 in Seminole to Jeff and Artie Sayre Williams.
He graduated from Seminole High School in 1950.
Williams lived in Seminole until 1955.
He had lived in Hutchinson, Kan. for the last 47 years.
He was a machinist for Eatons before retiring in 1989 after 34 years.
Williams was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #982.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He married Edith Montgomery on May 6, 1955 in Oklahoma City.
Williams is survived by his wife and one sister, Jessie Bruce of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ray Williams; four sisters and two brothers.
The family requests memorials be made to the Hospice of Reno County.
Wesley ‘Gene’ Williams
Wesley "Gene" Williams, 69, died Dec. 18, 2001.
He was born July 7, 1932 in Shamrock, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bea (Sherwood) Koenig; father, P.M. "Doc" Koenig, and brother, Herbert.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lil, and nephew, Brent Afinowicz, both of the home; daughter, Julie Aichele of Wayneboro, Pa.; two sons, Jim of Mandan, N.D., and Jerry of LaPorte, Texas; nephew, Jay Martin Williams of Newport, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gene was raised in Texas, California, and New Mexico.
He married Betty in 1954 in Odessa, Texas and adopted her three beautiful children and together they raised them for 24 years.
He served his country proudly in the Marine Corps.
Gene was an independent truck driver before he retired in 1983.
He met Lil Goodman in July 1984 and they were married Christmas Eve Day, 1985, in Austin, Texas with his mom and dad as witnesses.
They moved to the Seminole area with nephew Brent in 1992 and raised cattle.
Gene was such a beautiful person and he was so loved.
He will be truly missed.

He was laid to rest Dec. 21, 2001 at Little Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Mildred Williams
Graveside funeral services for former Seminole County resident Mildred Lorenne Williams are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Christ Stinnett is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Williams died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at Medical Center of Lewisville, Texas at the age of 77.
She was a Seminole County resident for 26 years.
She was born June 11, 1925 in Hanna to Theodore Cooke and Mildred Cooke Callier.
Williams married Calvin Williams on Feb. 15, 1947.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of Christ were she and her husband attended until they moved to Texas.
Williams was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather who raised her, Ray Callier; and one son, Patrick Williams.
She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Mike Williams of Bellevue, Texas; one daughter, G’Lou Pouland of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Sophia Williams
Funeral services for Sophia Ellen Williams, the mother of Seminole County residents, were held Wednesday evening at Schumacher Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah.
Interment followed in a private family service.
Williams died Monday, June 24, 2002 in Ada at the age of 71.
She was born Aug. 6, 1930 in Okemah to Ruby Ada Robison Lee and Lee Ray Robison.
She was raised and attended school in Okemah.
Williams married John W. Irons in 1947.
She had lived in Wewoka for 31 years where she was a home health care provider for the Seminole Department of Human Services until her retirement.
She was of the Baptist faith, but had recently attended the Old Glory Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.
Williams is survived by two sons, Gary Dean Irons of Wewoka and James Earl Irons of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Sharon Langston and Sue Crunk, both of Seminole, and Mary Brooms and Rita Bussey, both of McAlester; one brother, Donald Robison of Bakersfield, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Troy Williams
Funeral services for Troy Gene Williams are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home.
The service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Williams died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at his home at the age of 46.
He was born Oct. 21, 1955 in Cushing to Albert Jack and Vonnie Nadine (Hand) Williams.
He retired from the oilfield.
Williams graduated from Seminole High School in 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his companion, Beth VanZant and her daughter, Amanda, both of the home; two sisters, Beverly Williams of Seminole and Marsha Drumm of Oklahoma City; and two brothers, Jack Williams of Pittsburg, Calif. and Ron Williams of Oklahoma City.
Maude Wilson
Funeral services for Maude Wilson, the mother of former Seminole resident Gerri Wilson, were held Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Byars.
Rev. Kevin Driskill and Rev. J.B. Kendall officiate.
Burial followed in Byars Cemetery under the direction of Winans Funeral Home of Maysville.
Wilson died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 in Pauls Valley at the age of 92.
She was born Sept. 2, 1910 in Clarksville, Texas to William Alexander and Martha Elizabeth Jones Stone.
She came to the Byars area as a young girl with her parents, who were early day farmers.
The family later returned to Texas and came back about 1919.
Wilson attended school at Byars and graduated from high school there.
On Sept. 2, 1934, she married Lee Wilson at her parents’ home in Byars with Rev. J.P. Rice officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987.
Wilson remained at home until 1997, when she moved to the nursing home in Pauls Valley.
Throughout her lifetime, she took care of the elderly and cleaned for the church in Byars.
She was a lifelong Methodist, but later attended the Baptist church in Byars.
She was songleader at both churches for over 50 years.
Wilson is survived by one son, Edward Vernell "Ed" Wilson of Earlsboro; four daughters, Theda Baker of Stratford, Thelma Lee Miller of Joplin, Mo., Gerri Wilson, formerly of Seminole and now of Earlsboro, and Linda Keltner of Pauls Valley; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Stone of Purcell, and Dale Stone of Ardmore; and one sister, Laveta Simpson of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Delmer; and sisters, Esther, Pauline, and Lucille.
