Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Joe Ashbaker are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at the First Baptist Church in Hinton.
Ingerment will follow at Niles Cemetery in Hinton under the direction of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Daves will officiating.
He died Aug. 19, 2003, at the age of 64 at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1939, in Mt. Sterling, Ill. to Leonard T. and Margaret (Hendricks) Ashbaker.
He graduated from Brown County, Ill. High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Dessie M. Brooks on March 18, 1961 in Midwest City.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1978.
He then worked for Farmland Industries around the Wewoka and Seminole areas until 1995.
He managed the grain elevators in Ralston, Temple, Hinton, Fairmont, Montezuma, Kan. and Potter Neb.
The Ashbakers moved to Purcell in Oct. of 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Margaret Ashbaker and one sister, Agnes Fagan.
He is survived by his wife, Dessie Ashbaker of the home, one son, Yogi Ashbaker; one daughter, Waynette McKay of Norman; two grandchildren; two sisters, Bette Barker of San Diego, Calif. and Jeanette Chandler of Los Angeles, Calif.
Gussie Azlin
Services for former Seminole County resident, Gussie Marie Azlin are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Crossroads Cathedral with a 2 p.m. burial at Little Cemetery.
Services under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuaries, Oklahoma City.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Azlin died Tuesday, Dec.16, 2003, at the age of 76.
She was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Cromwell to Allen Arvel and Maggie Ola (Zellears) Lindsay.
Before moving to Moore in 1972, She enjoyed working in her church at Wewoka.
There she taught Sunday school, served as Vacation Bible School director, sponsored youth activities, sang in the ladies Trio (singing at many funerals), and served on the Food Committee.
After moving to Oklahoma City, Azlin attended Crossroads Cathedral where she was active in supporting funeral dinners.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Arvel Markus Lindsay, her parents, and her husband of 56 years William Junior Azlin on Jan. 16, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, David Azlin of Edmond and Geary Azlin of Oklahoma City; two daughters Jane Weston of Moore and Deborah Boswell Houston, Texas.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jacqueline Dolores Duzan Bailey
Graveside services for Seminole resident, Jacqueline Dolores Duzan Bailey, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ozark Chapel Cemetery in Laurie, Mo.
She died June 8, 2003, at the age of 79, at her home.
She was born July 1, 1923, in Nevada, Mo. to Charles Edward and Josephine Pottz, Duzan.
She was a 20 year retiree of K-Mart.
She is survived by one daughter, Sibbya Jo Bailey Phillips of Seminole; one niece. Jackie Schaefer; one nephew, Scott Fleener, and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel of Laurie, Mo.
Ronna Terrell Bailey
Ronna Terrell Bailey of Longmont, Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at Hospice of Boulder County at the age of 44.
She was born on June 18, 1958 to Dennis Ronald "Ron" and Mary Louise (King) Terrell in Holdenville.
Ronna’s parents lived in Sasakwa from 1958-1960.
Ronna’s father Ron served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Ronna attended school in Ft. Collins, Colo., before she moved to Richardson, Texas.
She received two bachelor’s degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
In 1970, Ronna’s mother married Roger Bailey.
Two years later, he adopted Ronna and her sister Angie.
Ronna taught high school French, German, and Spanish in Meeker for five years before moving to Boulder in 1986.
She was a secretary and technical typesetter at the National Center for Atmospheric Research before becoming a mail carrier in Boulder.
Ronna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder and was active in the choir and the "Bridges" group.
She was also a member of the University of Colorado Alumni Handbell Choir.
Ronna enjoyed counted cross-stitch, music, genealogy, travel, and visiting the highest point in as many states as possible.
She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ.
Ronna was first diagnosed with cancer in 2001, but her cancer went into remission.
In Sept. 2002, her cancer returned, and she was given a short time to live.
Ronna attended a memorial/celebration-of-life service for herself on Nov. 1, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder.
She was preceded in death by three grandparents, Rev. William and Agnes King, Tonkawa, and Grady Terrell, Wewoka.
Ronna is survived by her parents, Mary and Roger Bailey, Longmont, Colo., and Ron and Bobbie Terrell, Warsaw, Mo.; three sisters, Angelique Malezieux and her husband Gilles, Paris, France, Nancy Ruth Bailey, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Holly Bailey, Greeley, Colo.; her grandmother, Beatrice Terrell Harjo, Wewoka; two uncles, Raymond Terrell, Kansas City, and Kenneth Terrell, Seminole; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation was held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, Colo.
Inurnment was held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa.

Frances Baker-Coker
OKLAHOMA CITY – Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Frances Vivian Baker-Coker were scheduled for this afternoon at The Lighthouse Assembly in Choctaw.
Burial was to follow at Choctaw Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes, Inc.
Baker-Coker died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at the age of 83.
She was born May 28, 1918 in Cushing to Charlie and Carolin Blackburn.
She married Earnest McConnel in 1936 in Cushing.
Baker-Coker married Robert Lee Baker in 1942 and they had a home in Wewoka for 35 years.
She worked in the Smart’s nursing home in Wewoka and Tuckers Children Nursing Home of Holdenville until her husband’s death in 1977.
She married Sherman Coker in 1986 in Choctaw. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Baker-Coker is survived by three daughters, Vivian Knight of Eufaula, Carol Levonik of Lawton, and May Snowden of Choctaw; three stepsons, Bill Coker of Choctaw, James Coker of Moore, and Melvin Coker of Harrah; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several stepgrandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Patton; her stepdaughter, Helen Lofton; and her parents.

Jack Baker
Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Jack Edward Baker of Oklahoma City, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Ed. Foust officiating.
Interment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at the age of 82 in an Oklahoma nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Duncan to L.D. Baker and Mary (Duncan) Baker.
On Oct. 11, 1941, he was married to Laurene Faylor in Seminole.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked in manufacturing for many years and retired from Tinker Air Force Base.
He lived in the Shawnee – Seminole area most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laurene; one brother, Jim Baker and one sister, June Wolf.
He is survived by one son, Jerry Edward Baker of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Donna Conner of Seminole; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one brother, L. D. Baker Jr. or Shawnee.
The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
James Baker
Graveside services for longtime Konawa resident James Douglas Baker were held on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at the Vamoosa Cemetery.
Rev. Michael Vallandingham officiated.
Services were under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
Baker died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at the age of 51 in Wewoka.
He was born to Lonnie Farlin Baker and Hattie Lou (Cooley) Baker on Nov. 3, 1952.
Baker worked in the greater Seminole County oilfields most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles Baker and Clyde Baker.
Baker is survived by two sisters, Vera Heard, Konawa and Yvonne Williamson of Arizona; and one brother, Wallace Baker, Bakersfield, Calif.
