Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Velma Jane (Williams) Brewer of Maud are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis with Bro. Glen Peck and Rev. David Shatwell officiating.
Interment will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
Brewer died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the age of 95 in the Rose Manor Nursing Home in Maud.
She was born July 6, 1908, in Alabama to Johnny Thomas Williams and Emma Elizabeth (Blair).
She married Clyde Carlton Brewer May 5, 1927, in Konawa.
Brewer moved from Konawa to Maud in 1964, where she was a resident until her death.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Maud First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny Thomas Williams in 1980; two sons, Glen and Walter Brewer; two daughters, Lola and Naomi Brewer; two grandsons Michael Kelley and Ricky Rogers, one granddaughter, Tawnya Brewer; two great grandsons, Timmy and Tony Smith; and one sister, Josie Williams.
She is survived by four sons, Tom Brewer of Byng, Earl Brewer of Newalla, Carl Brewer of Newcastle and Harold Brewer of Maud; five daughters, Nadine Gates of Okemah, Jean Stearns of Shawnee, Ester Alexander, both of Oklahoma City, Ruby Lee of Mustang and Shirley Gurley of Jones; one brother, David Williams of Edmond; two sisters, Della Mae Craft of Wyoming and Ruby Kiser of Jet; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Steve Billings, Jerry Bryan, Robert Mullins, Tim Garner, Brian Brewer and Travis Mullins.
Irma Bridges
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Irma LaFawn (Fleming) Bridges, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.
Rev. David Karges will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Irma passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 71.
She was born to Hilliard Edwards and Nellie Louise (Cochran) Edwards on July 1, 1931 in Marietta.
Irma lived in Seminole for 29 years, moving here from Shawnee.
She later lived in Dallas, Texas, before moving back to Seminole.
Irma married William "Bill" Joseph Fleming on Jan. 18, 1953.
He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1978.
Irma later married Roger Bridges who also preceded her in death.
She worked with her husband William in Fleming’s Accounting Business for 18 years until his death in 1978.
Irma later worked as a live-in-nanny for many years in Dallas, Texas.
She was a member of the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole.
Irma attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, and enjoyed flower gardening, fishing on Lake Texoma, and ballroom dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, A.C. Weese; her two husbands; and one sister, Ruth Dawn Edwards.
Irma is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Victor Fleming, Houston, Texas, and Bruce and Linda Fleming, Oklahoma City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Tom Smith, Norman, and Pam and Curtis Morgan, Seminole; one brother, Gene Edwards, Brussels, Belgium; three sisters, Jean Thomason, Collinsville, Verna Valentine, Tulsa, and Ginger Edney, Seminole; and seven grandchildren, Katie, Kristen, Kendra, and Kelsey Fleming, all of Oklahoma City, Andrew Smith, Norman, and Tyler and Jessica Morgan, both of Seminole.
Troy Bridges
Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Troy Lee Bridges are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Bridges died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the age of 75 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Van Buren, Ark.
He was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Henrietta, Texas to Davis Lee Bridges and Ludie Gertrude (Barshers).
He was married to Bonnie Lee (Boatman) Bridges on Jan. 17, 1962, in Sand Springs.
Bridges worked for Pawnee Petroleum Co. in Seminole from 1980-1984 and retired in 1988 from Wilco Inc. in Corsicana, Texas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Staff Sgt.
He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the American Legion in Fayetteville, Ark. and VFW in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie on Nov. 6, 1995; three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by one son, Donnie Ray Brown of Oklahoma; two daughters, Deborah Bates of Van Buren, Ark. and Barbara Ann Bridges of Colorado; one brother, Earl Bridges of Haltsom City, Texas; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Clifford Briery II
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Clifford "Cliff" Edward Briery, II, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Noma Mansell will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Briery passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born to Clifford "C.E." Edward Briery and Genny (Cook) Briery on July 5, 1951 in Seminole.
Briery was a 1969 graduate of Seminole High School, and a University of Oklahoma graduate.
He received his Law Degree from OCU.
Briery was an attorney for Charles Hill in Norman, and was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by his parents; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Michael Townsend of Plano, Texas; three aunts, Helen Jones and Velva Rogers, both of Oklahoma City, and Edna Marie Briery of Shreveport, La.; two nieces, Ashley Slaughter of Plano, Texas and her children, Jurnee, Dalton, and Cade, and Alisha Rand of Frisco, Texas and her child, Haylee; and a host of other family and friends.
Lowell H. Brimley
A private memorial services for former Seminole resident, Lowell H. Brimley, now of Pinole, Calif., was held at the family home.
At the request of the deceased there were no services
Burial was held by Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole at Little Cemetery.
Brumley died Sept. 26, 2003, at the age of 81.
He was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harvey and Ann (Coombs) Brimley and was educated there.
He spent four years in the Navy and retired after 30 years as an engineer in Pinole, Calif.
He was an avid golfer
He is survived by his wife, Pebble Cannon Brimley; three stepsons, Robert Rhett, Jeffrey Jackson and Gregory Franklin, all of California; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Johnny Brinsfield
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident, Johnny Mack Brinsfield are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
He died Friday, Oct.31, 2003, at the age of 54 in Kellyville.
He was born July 16, 1949, in Seminole to Billy Franklin Brinsfield and Gladys Josephine (Lee) Brinsfield.
He was married to Terry (Wilson) Brinsfield in Arkansas.
He sered as the rank of SPS in the U.S. Army, served in Vietnam and received Vietham service medal with three bronze service stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter and later transferred to the USAR.
He attended two years of college. and was a member of the Penticostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Brinsfield II and a step-daughter, Tamera Lloyd.
He is survived by his mother of Seminole; his wife, Terry of the home; two sons, Eric Brinsfield of Pine Bluff Arsenal, Ark. and Anthony Brinsfield of Shawnee; stepson, James Akins of Kellyville; step daughter, Timber Akins, also of Kellyville; one brother, Frank Brinsfield of Spring, Texas; one sister, Judy Jones of Seminole and 12 grandchildren.
Casket bearers are Clint Nunnelley, Caleb Nunnelley, Chad Nunnelley, David Jones, Dale Jones and Johnny Choate.
Honorary bearers are Chub McClure and Jerry Jones.
John Leo Brockhaus
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, John Leo Brockhaus are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Shawnee.
Brockhaus died April 7, 2003, at the age of 77 in the Ambassador Manor Nursing Home in Tulsa.
He was born on April 19, 1925 in Yukon Oklahoma to Franklin Brockhaus and Magdalena (Walch) Brockhaus.
He married Anna J. (Bryant) on April 23, 1948 in Midwest City.
He was a farmer, rancher, and worked for Lee Way Freightliner.
He was of Catholic faith.
His parents, his wife, two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Brockhaus; and two sisters, Mary Matthews and Clara Cawthon preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, and daughter-in-laws, Paul and Sherry Brockhaus of Tulsa, Lee and Sissy Brockhauss of Earlsboro, and Mike Brockhaus of Choctaw; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay Carter and Woody Woodward of Yuma, Ariz.; five grand children, J.R., Angelique and Bryan Joe Brockhaus, Allen Roads, Ann Jeanette Casad; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Justine Roads, Barrit and Bailey Casad, Caitlin and J.T. Brockhaus and Landen Degman.
One sister, Elinor Hubbs of Enid, a lifelong friend, Dave Pratt of Hurst, Texas, and an extended family friend, Patsy Cline of Prague, also survive him.
There will be a Rosary on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
His body will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee on April 11 under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
