Alma Campbell

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Alma Campbell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at the Asher First Baptist.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25.

Interment will follow at the Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

She died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the age of 99 at Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was born Aug. 24, 1904, in Pope County, Ark. to Henry Sartors and Dora Mae (Bagwell) Sartors.

She was married to John M. Campbell, who preceded her in death.

She was a former Maud, Asher and Tecumseh resident.

She was a member of Asher First Baptist Church and had been active with the Asher Senior Citizens as well as being an avid quilter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Mona Ruth; and three sons, Ronald, Ralph and Hoyt Campbell.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Campbell and wife, Betty of King, N.C. and Max Campbell and wife, Bonnie of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, R.G. Sartors and wife, Velma of Holdenville; one sister, Wilma Bratcher and husband, Russell of Tecumseh, as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Pallbearers are Tom Kennedy, Larry Moore, Larry Fore, Johnny Sorerells, Harold Farris and Henry Neeley.

Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Smith, Russell Bratcher and Kenneth Gordon.

Daisy Campbell

Funeral services for Daisy Ellen (Vieweg) Campbell, grandmother of Seminole County residents, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel in Shawnee.

Pastor Dwayne Bobbitt will officiate.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Campbell died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at her home at the age of 86.

She was born to Albert Emmanual Walter Vieweg and Mary Ellen (Payton) Vieweg on April 14, 1917 in Minco.

Campbell attended and graduated from El Reno Schools.

She lived in El Reno and moved to Shawnee in October of 1949.

She married Claud Allen Campbell on Dec. 21, 1935 in Duncan.

Campbell was a homemaker, and was a member of the Hilltop Assembly of God Chapel, east of Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claud, on Oct. 23, 2002; two children, and infant daughter Claudine Campbell, and a son Harvey Campbell; and eight brothers and sisters.

Campbell is survived by four children, Flo Crouch, El Reno, Junior Lee Campbell, Tecumseh, Marian Kinslow, Tecumseh, and Billy Campbell, Shawnee; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Hilltop Assembly of God Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 21, Earlsboro, OK.

James ‘Sonny’ Earnest Campbell

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, James ‘Sonny’ Earnest Campbell are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Cummings Cemetery, Maud.

He died July 6, 2003, at the age of 72 in Ponca City.

He was born May 27, 1931, in Pampa, Texas to Earnest Melvin Campbell and Susan Lois (Brooks) Campbell.

He worked as a presser in the dry cleaning business for many years in Maud and Edmond, retiring in 1991.

He graduated from Sulphur School for the Deaf and belonged to the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud.

He was active in the Maud Round-Up Club when he lived in Maud.

He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 1, 1979, and his mother on Sept 22, 2000.

He is survived by one son, Richard Campbell of Ponca City; two brothers, Charles Campbell of Burbank and Joe Campbell of Little Rock, Ark.; and two granddaughters.

Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the services.

Services will be under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Nancy Mae Carbitcher

Gone is a loving mother, dear grandmother, and a wonderful friend, a quiet lady who helped many, never asking for anything in return.

A leader of her family with a kind and gentle nature, soft-spoken with a loving smile that will be greatly missed in the lives of those that knew and loved her.

Life-long Seminole County resident Nancy Mae Deere Carbitcher, 68, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 1:30 p.m.

She was brought back to her home southeast of Bowlegs at 5 p.m. Sunday. An all-night vigil will be held Tuesday night starting at 7 p.m.

Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Walley King will officiate the services.

Burial will follow in the Jimmie Carbitcher family cemetery under the direction of Stout Phillips Funeral Home with traditional speaker Dorsey Nero officiating.

Nancy died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at her home in Bowlegs.

She was born July 9, 1934 south of Holdenville to Thomas and Lucy (Harrison) Deere; they preceded her in death.

In 1949, she married Jimmie (Ozvna) Carbitcher Jr., in Seminole; he preceded her in death.

She worked throughout her life as a homemaker and quilter. She loved quilting, especially for her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and for anyone who would ask.

Nancy also quilted traditional Seminole Patchwork quilts.

Nancy was a member of Mekusukey Baptist Church where she would come to enjoy church songs, hymns, and gospel singing.

She reared her children in the Bowlegs area in the tradition of the Seminole tribal methods.

She lived the ways of the Seminoles, intermingling her life with that of the world around her.

Nancy enjoyed attending stomp dances where she shook cans for many years.

She followed the customs of the ancient Seminoles in the dances that were held.

One of her favorite past times was playing with her grandchildren and following their school and extra-curricular activities.

She enjoyed teaching them the Seminole language and customs of their ancestors.

Nancy will follow the Seminole tribal custom through her funeral services and burial.

Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-laws, Freeland "Rusty" and Shalah, Stroud, Jimpsey "Boggey" and Vicky, Garrett, Texas, Cooky "Toby, " of Seminole; seven daughters and son-in-laws, Pat Larney, Shawnee, Betty Jean "Tina" and Gene Wahweah, El Reno, Dora Mae "Tootsie" and Dave "Roman" Hill, Serena "Doedo" and Dewayne Scott, Nettie "B-girl" and David W. Haney Sr., Lisa Billie of Seminole, and Marina "Tolley" Brown of Wewoka.

Nancy left behind 38 grandchildren, Sean and Hayga Chalepah of Vamossa, Shirlene and Donny Cofer, Katie "Lusty" Phillips, Sally "Tooter" Wind and Jason Brauning, Michael "Boysee" Hill and Raney Fixico, Jack Hill, Isaac Hill, Davy "Buffalo" Hill, Natasha "Toshie" Hill, Kristy Hill, Buddy and Tia Harjo, Vanessa "Sissy Boo" Henneha and J.B. Smith, Tiesha Henneha, Mindy Scott, David Haney Jr., Jason "Booner" Carbitcher, Robert (R.J.) Carbitcher, Shenna Carbitcher, Fayden Garrett Carbitcher, Casey Cole, Laney Cole and Sargent Billie, all of Seminole, Darlene Carbitcher of Norman, Tammy Reese of Texas, Sammy and Kristy Wahweah and David Wayne and Lindsey Haney of OKC, Gene and Stephanie Wahweah II of El Reno, Lisa Carbitcher and Larry Berryhill of Wetumka, Gannon and Shannon Brown and Michelle Burden of Wewoka, Leonard "Bonsai" Henneha Jr. of Okemah, Jimpsey "Sonny Boy" Dale Carbitcher and Charlotte Smith both of Wetumka, Tiffany Carbitcher, Monroe "Roeroe" Carbitcher, Jake "Jakey" Carbitcher and Brandon "Petey" Carbitcher of Konawa, Katie Carbitcher of Bowlegs, Jessica Nicole of Wagner, Daryl and Sarah Bunyard of Mustang.

She has 32 great-grandchildren, Christopher Cofer, Donovan Phillips, Kelsey Phillips, Jasmine Phillips, Wynter Wind, Summer Wind, Marion Wind, Christian Wind, Alesha Hill, Matthew Hill, Gavin Hill, Tanner Ray, Alexis Harjo, Tafv Harjo, A.J. Yargee, Kyle Yargee and Hailey Mainard all of Seminole, Quinten Wahweah, Cameron Wahweah, Taryn Wahweah and Cloey Haney of Oklahoma City, Daveon Hill and Darian Hill of Shawnee, Neila Wahweah of El Reno, Rae Lyn Chalepah and Seena Chalepah of Vamoosa, Marissa Berryhill, Micah Berryhill, Mupettv Berryhill, David Lewis and Kristen Lewis of Wetumka, and Gaberial Bunyard of Mustang.

Carbitcher has one great-great-grandchild.

Other survivors include three sister-in-laws, Mary Jane Harjo, Bowlegs, Srophonia Brown, Seminole, and Bonnie Deere, Blythe, Calf.; one brother-in-law, Lewis Wise of Seminole; one uncle, Buster Deere of Seminole; a host of nieces and nephews, and special long-time friends: Edna Gourley of San Francisco, Calif., Dan and Lucille Reynolds of Seminole, as well as many, many others.

Those who precede Nancy in death are husband Jimmie (Ozvna) Carbitcher Jr., Nov. 8, 1999 at the age of 69; two sons, Younger (Sonny) Carbitcher, Dec. 9, 2001 at the age of 33, and Monroe Carbitcher, Oct. 31, 1964 at the age of three; a toddler grandson, Frederick "B.J." Brown, Nov. 6, 1979; 11 brothers, two sisters and her parents Thomas and Lucy Deere.

Pallbearers include Dave R. Hill, Gene Wahweah, Dewayne Scott, J.C. Simpson and grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are Felix Mack, Raymond Harjo, Shannon Deere, Buddy Wood, Thomas Mack, Henry Yargee, family and friends.

Susan Cardoza

Funeral services for Sasakwa native Susan (Pennokee) Cardoza, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Birdcreek Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Brother Ledtkey McIntosh and Brother Eugene Harjo will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Sasakwa, under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Wake services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Glorieta Baptist Church, located at 7308 S. Western in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Cardoza will be moved to the Bird Creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa on Wednesday evening, with other wake services planned for Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Cardoza died Monday, March 10, 2003 at her home in Oklahoma City at the age of 55.

She was born to Richmond Pennokee and Virginia (Wolfe) Pennokee on Jan. 19, 1948 in Sasakwa.

Cardoza was a dietician and Cafeteria Manager for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

She was a member of the Bird Creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Cardoza was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister, Ramona Stewart on Dec. 11, 2002; her husband, Sam Chotkey; and one son, Richmond Chotkey.

She is survived by two sons, Gabriel Cardoza, and Johnny Cardoza, both of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Richard, Gary, and Nathan Pennokee, all of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Nancy Musser, Belva Pennokee, and Rachel Pennokee, all of Oklahoma City; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Bitseedy, R.J. Harjo, Joey Pennokee, James Haag, Matt DeLana, and Terry Harjo.

Geneva Pearl Cariker

Graveside services for Geneva Pearl Cariker, sister of Seminole County resident, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

Larry Ensminger will officiate the services.

She died Aug. 28, 2003, at the age of 77 at her home in Duncan.

She was born May 17, 1926, in Duncan to Lawrence W. and Willie Mae (Searcy) Ensminger, both deceased.

She married Oran R. Cariker on Aug. 2, 1946 in Yuma, Ariz.

She was a home maker and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Oran R. Cariker of the home; two sons, "Tom" Ray Cariker of Carrollton and Phillip "Mark" Cariker of Duncan; two brothers, John Ensminger of Duncah and George Ensminger of Hugo; one sister, Gwen Bedwell of Wewoka five grandchildren, Lindsay Ross, Courtney Cariker, Tori Powell, Jesse Alls and Tommy Alls; and one great grandchild, Tanner Ross.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Freddie Paul Cariker in 1960.
