Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, E.U. Crain are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at the New Hope Primative Baptist Church in Tecumseh.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
Elder Glenn Rooker will officiate.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
He died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at the age of 93, at his home in Maud.
He was born Oct. 5, 1909, in Farmers Valley, Texas to Willie Crain and Myrtle (Moore) Crain.
He married Ruth Velma (Fry) Crain Aug. 16, 1930 in Kim, Colo.
He owned and operated a station/café combo in Headrick from 1936 until mid 1940.
He was also a farmer and rancher as well as an airport mechanic where he had worked for over 17 years at the Altus Air Force Base.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the New Hope Primative Baptist Church in Tecumseh for over 40 years where he also served as a Deacon.
He was baptized in 1931 in Kim, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Crain on Aug. 30, 2002; an infant son; two grandsons, Jerol Crain and Russell Wayne Crain and two sisters, Patricia Lane and Dortha Maxwell.
He is survived by one son, Jerry Crain of Maud, one granddaughter; two great grandchildren and one brother, G.H. Crain of Arlington, Texas.
Bobby Cravens
Funeral services for Konawa native Bobby Wayne Cravens are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Vondel Smith and Son located at 13125 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City.
Cravens was born in Konawa on June 8, 1936 to R.C. and Opal Cravens.
He died on March 15, 2003 at his home in Oklahoma City.
He was married to Linda Dishman Cravens for 33 years and had two children, Robin Renee Cravens, 31, of Tulsa and Robert Charlie Cravens, 29, of Oklahoma City.
His parents, R.C. Cravens in 1967 and Opal Cravens in 2002 preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother, Dean Cravens and his wife, Linda Sue of Oklahoma City; his Aunt Gladys Lankford of Oklahoma City; one niece, Stephanie Cravens of Los Angeles, Calif.; and nephews Tom Cravens of Oklahoma City; Chris Dishman of Chickasha; and Derick Dishman of Headrick; one brother-in-law, Mike Dishman and wife, Diane of Headrick; mother-in-law, Juanita Dishman of Altus and special aunt by marriage, Dovie Dishman of Altus.
He also leaves behind many cousins and long time friends.
He was a retired commodities broker from Barnes Brokerage in Edmond and a life long tennis player.
He was known for his good spirit, his generosity and sense of humor and was a beloved father and husband.
It was often said that he "never knew a stranger."
He continued to keep up these spirits while enduring a long fight to overcome a series of health conditions that plagued his last seven years of life.
He is finally at peace and he will be missed.
A graveside service will follow at Konawa Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Finis Cravens
Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Finis Robert Edward Cravens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Chapel.
He died July 2, 2003, at the age of 90 at Elmwood Manor Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Dardenelle, Ark. to Jess Cravens and Mattie Miller.
He worked as a foreman with Seminole County, District #2 until 1975.
He was married to Coley (Grand) Cravens on June 18, 1935 in Calvin.
He is survived by his wife, Coley Cravens of Wewoka; two daughters, Betty Lou Moreland of Abbeville, La. and Evelene Meeks of Wewoka; two sisters, Mae Lawrence and Verlie Steele, both of Oklahoma City; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and other relatives and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Mattie Cravens; three brothers, Jack, Jim and Homer Cravens; and one sister, Sophie Grant.
Pall bearers will be grandsons and honorary bearers will be nephews.
Brother Lee Wayne Fowler will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Ethan Crawford
Graveside services for Ethan Dakota Crawford, infant son of Royal (Crawford) Nunnelly, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery.
Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Rev. Fred Morrison will officiate the services.
Crawford died Sunday Jan. 26, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center.
He was born to Royal (Crawford) Nunnelly on Sunday Jan. 26, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center.
Crawford is survived by his mother, Royal, of the home; two sisters, Roxanne Nunnelly and Helena Nunnelly, both of the home; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Cathy Crawford; and his grandmother, Viola Smith.
Carolyn Cross
Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Carolyn Cross are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Shawnee.
She died July 28, 2003, at the age of 59 in Oklahoma City.
She was born April 30, 1944, in Shawnee to John Lemuel Goodnight and Nina Mae (Henry).
She married Joe Lee Cross on April 2, 1966.
She worked in South Carolina as a legal secretary for Nettles Turbeville and Reddeck.
After moving back to Oklahoma she held various clerical positions as a legal secretary.
She attended in Wanette and graduated from high school in St. Louis, then attended East Central University.
She was a member of Britton Road Church of Christ.
She had lived for many years in Seminole before moving to North Carolina.
Before her death, she had been back in Oklahoma for a year and a half.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Lindell Goodnight.
She is survived by one daughter, Kesha Mae Cross of Oklahoma City; one son, Bart Cross of Seminole; four brothers, Gerald Goodnight of Newcastle, Mike Goodnight, John Timothy Goodnight and Thomas Kevin Goodnight, all of St. Louis; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Dale Smith will be officiating the service.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Ruth Crotts
Graveside funeral services for Seminole resident Ruth L. Crotts are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Rev. Cecil Spoonmore is set to officiate.
Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Crotts died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at her home at the age of 90.
She was born March 9, 1912 in Marbel City to Denver Ray and Eva L. (Stewart) Sloan.
She was a sales associate for J.C. Penney Co.
She also had worked for 10 years at Stokes Grocery in Miami.
For several years, Crotts was an owner and operator of a restaurant in both Miami and Shawnee.
She was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church and the Home Extension Club of Seminole.
She had lived in the Seminole area for 21 years.
Crotts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al Crotts, in 1980; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one daughter, Patti Weems of Seminole; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Elvert Nathan Crump
Funeral services for relative of Seminole County residents, Elvert Nathan Crump were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Aletheia Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Wewoka Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
Crump died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the age of 97.
He was born Oct. 31, 1906, in Waldron, Ark. to Rufus and Christian Ann Crump.
He married Geneve Wilson on June 29, 1995.
Crump retired after several years in the maintenance department with the Mid-Del school system.
He is survived by his wife, Geneve Crump of the home; daughters, Charlene Wilks of Edmond and Virginia Frizzell of Midwest City; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Crump was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada Mae Crump; son, Nathan Crump; grandson, Ray Lee Ellis and great grandson, Tyler Lee Spence.
