Jessie DeLeon

Funeral services for Seminole County native, Jessie DeLeon were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh.

She died July 4, 2003, at the age of 82 in Shawnee.

She was born June 2, 1921, in Wewoka to William and Elizabeth (Johnston) Campbell.

She was born and reared in Wewoka but has lived in Shawnee the rest of her life.

He was married to Willie E. DeLeon on Feb. 10, 1938.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church.

She had a passion for flower and vegetable gardening, and enjoyed following sports.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Guffey; and infant son, Willie Dean DeLeon and her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Willie E. DeLeon of the home; three daughters, Wanda Wesley, Linda Wright and Judy Avery, all of Shawnee; two sons, Donald Ray DeLeon and Willie DeLeon, both of Shawnee; one sister, Corabelle Hardy of Tecumseh; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many friends and family and two special nieces.

Services will be officiated by Rev. Brent McCutcheon and Laura Lene Hill.

Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

James Lee DeLonais

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Pickard Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa for Seminole County resident, James Leo DeLonais Konawa.

Father Matthew Brown OSB will perform Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Sacred Heart Church.

Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Potawatomi Cemetery where he will be buried next to his great grandfather, John Shopwatuck.

Services are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

DeLonais departed from this life on Nov. 2, 2003, at the age of 69 in Norman Regional Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1934, in Ponca City to William Bernard Delonais Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Higdon.

He attended Maud High School.

He married Norma Dene Boyce on Oct. 8, 1953 and had four children.

DeLonais worked most of his life as an Industrial Electrician for OG&E, Zachary Construction and Flour Daniels Construction.

He retired from Flour Daniels Construction in 1998.

His favorite pastimes were visiting his family and landscaping his yard.

He was the fourth generation to live in the Sacred Heart area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William DeLonais Sr. in 1979, Grace Delonas in 1973 and one brother, William DeLonais Jr. in 1977.

He is survived by four children, Kathy Lowry and husband, Tim of Konawa, Debbie Waltson and husband John, and Toni Elkins and husband, David, all of Ada, Jim DeLonais Jr. and wife Cathy of Houston, Texas; the mother of his children, Norma Delonais of Konawa; 11 grandchildren, Renee Fallis Conley, Jeremy Fallis, Michelle Lowry Jesse, Melissa Lowry Wilson, Jason Lowry, Michael Elkins, Matthew Elkins, Mark Elkins, Alicia Delonais, Ashley Delonais and James Leo DeLonais III (Trey); four great grandchildren that he said made him great four times over, Mikala and Mikinley Wilson, Colten Jesse and Isabelle Conley; one brother, Loyd DeLonais and wife Bobbie of Midwest City; one sister, Betty Daniels of Roseville, Calif.; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews and a countless number of friends.

Pall bearers will be his six grandsons and Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Eischeid, Jason Conley, Todd Jesse and Marty Wilson.

Joe Denison

Funeral services for former Seminole resident John Denison are scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Historic Strothers Chapel under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Denison died at the age of 82 on March 24, 2003 at home in Duncan.

He was born in St. Frances, Kan on August 4, 1920 to Blaine Denison and Theda (Crosby) Denison.

He was married to Pearl (Mcdaniel) Denison on May 4, 1946 in Las Vegas.

He lived in Seminole from 1961 to 1989.

He was retired from the Air Force where he was a Master Sgt. and flew 33 missions as a B17 pilot and received a Distinguished Flying Cross with four oak leaf cluster.

He was also a retired rural mail carrier and was managing the family farm.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Denison of the home; one daughter, Sharon Kay Hale of Marlow; two brothers, Walter J. Denison of Vacaville, Calif. and C.E. Denison of Dodge City, Kan; and one sister, Hilda Tygrett of Indianapolis, Ind; two grandchildren, Dolly Nelson and Danny Joe Hale and three great-grandchildren, Amber Kinman, David Hale, and Jessica Nelson.

Rev. Tracy L. Wilson will officiate.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearing Funeral Home.

Pearl M. Denison

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Pearl M. Denison, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 28 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole.

She died June 24, 2003, at the age of 82, in Duncan.

She was born on Oct. 7, 1920 in Seminole to Bill McDaniel and Velma McDaniel.

She was married to Joe G. Denison on May 4, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church and the Seminole Home Demonstration Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in March, 2003; one brother, Orben Ray McDaniel and one sister, Wilma J. Watson.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Hale of Duncan; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Officiating the service will be Russell Tuck and Tracy Wilson.

Interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to your favorite charity.

Catherine Dennis

Funeral services for Catherine (Jones) Louie Dennis are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wewoka.

Rev. Reginald V. Woods, Sr. is scheduled to officiate.

Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in a traditional Indian Farewell Handshake, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Directors.

She was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Butner to Callie Perry and Jerden Jones.

She attended school at Old Butner and graduated from Douglass High School.

She served as head cook at Porter Nursing Home from 1956-1963 where she completed her food services supervisor’s training and held a certificate of Technical Education, A Division of Home Economics of the State of Oklahoma.

She joined the Pilgram Rest Baptist Church at the age of 15 and was baptized by the late Rev. E.L. Edwards and served there 19 years in various duties such as serving on the Mission Board and on the Kitchen Committee.

Later she moved her membership to St. Joseph Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.A. Jackson and remained there for 23 years.

She served on the Mission Board and the Kitchen Committee.

She was a very faithful member of both Baptist Church for a total of 41 years.

She married Deacon Moman Louie on Dec. 25, 1965 in New Lima, he preceded her in death.

In 1981, she united with the Cedar Street Church of Christ and remained there until her health wouldn’t allow her to attend.

She married Lee Dennis on July 13, 1981, and he also preceded her in death on April 11, 2002.

She served as head cook at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home for 28 years and retired in 1990.

She spent the last 10 years there as food service supervisor.

She loved to cook and would always shere anything she had with anyone who came along.

She loved to watch basketball games on television and was a big fam of the Chicago Bulls.

She could tell you every player name on any team in the NBA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Callie Perry and Jerden Jones; her first husband, Moman Louie; her second husband, Lee Dennis; two sons, Alford ‘Bug’ Daniels and John H. Daniels; four brothers and one sister, Willie Mae Feggins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, three daughters, Donetta Madkins of Chicago, Ill., Kay Lynn Daniels of Wewoka and Mayzetta Daniels Hall of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Inez Daniels of Bakersfield, Calif.; one son-in-law, Billy Hall of Grand Prairie, Texas; two devoted step-daughters, Coria Louie Lee and Ruth Lee, both of Wewoka; devoted foster children, Oletha Gordon and Tommy D. Phillips, both of Wewoka; one sister, Bety Thorton of Oklahoma City; two sister in laws, Joyce Perry of Oklahoma City and Willie Mae Easley of Wewoka.

She is also survived by 7 grandsons, Derrick and Vernell Madkins, Jr. both of Chicago, Ill.; Russell and Roderick Daniels of Wewoka, James Daniels of Bakersfield, Calif., Kevin Hall of Arlington, Texas and David Hall of Dallas, Texas; 5 granddaughters, May Kathryn Madkins of Chicago, Ill., Regina Daniels of Wewoka, Rita, Lisa and Bridgete Daniels, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; 15 great grandchildren, 19 step-children, from both marriages, over 200 step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews cousins and many friends.

Richard ‘Dick’ Densford

Funeral services for Ira Richard "Dick" Densford were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole.

He died on June 21, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1922, in Chanute, Kan. to Ira Robert and Emma Louise (Foster) Densford.

He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma before joining the Navy.

He was a cryptographer for the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was stationed in Washington, D.C.

He served our country for eight years and held the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

While stationed in Washington, D.C. he married Peggy Day Densford on Feb. 14, 1943.

In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Densford moved to Seminole.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981 after 15 years of employment.

He was a past president of the Seminole Lions Club.

He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church where he was serving as Lay Leader and Chairman of the Administrative Council at the time of his death.

He also served as Chairman of the Staff Parrish Relations and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He had been the teacher of several Sunday school classes, served on the Finance Committee, the Missions Committee and the Worship Committee.

He was also Head Usher of the church.

Densford was preceded in death by his father, Ira Densford in 1951; his mother, Emma Densford in 1988; his wife, Peggy on Feb. 9, 1999; his sister, Dorothy Byrnes; and his son-in-law, Bob Alexander on Oct. 23, 2002.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla Densford Alexander of Moore; his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Helen Densford of Midwest City; his sister, Louise Gaye of Sulphur; two sisters-in-law, Helen Stowell of Sun City West, Ariz. and Virginia Brown of Ponca City; and his grandchildren, Tara Nicole and Andrew Meneely of Seminole.

Other family members include a sister-in-law, Clara Britton of Seymore, Ind.; two step-grandchildren, Traci Elliot and David Alexander; and a special friend, Dorothy Morgan from Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Brandon Moreland, Kenny Higdon, Gordon Melson, Jim Robertson, Ron Garbutt and Jerry Childers.

Honorary bearers will be George Higdon, Foy Dacus, Bob Clausing, Homer Neill, Jim Whitt, Claude Cornelison, Delbert Aldridge, Fred Basier and Ernie Willis.

Interment was at Maple Grove Cemetery and services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to the First United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
