Nina Gail Ellis

Funeral services for Nina Gail (Perry) Ellis of Seminole are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lighthouse Holiness Church, west of Prague.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1947 in Prague to Clifford and Juanita Perry.

She passed away on June 2, 2003, at her home after a long battle with cancer.

She married Donald Ray Ellis on Oct. 25, 1965.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Glen Allen Perry, Samuel Vic Perry and Johnny Lee Perry; and one niece, Penny Perry.

She is survived by her husband, Don, of the home, daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Josh Ramey and Amyand Tim Porter, all of Seminole, her parents, Clifford and Juanita Perry of Prague; seven sisters, Kay Meeker of Bryan College, Texas, Betty Miller of Gore, Joyce Wilson or Prague, Cindy Burkholder of Brokey Arrow, Elsie Parker of San Antonio, Texas, Sheila Williams and Esther Morgan of Shawnee; four brothers, Calvin Perry of Seminole, Randy Perry of Sapulpa, David Perry of Chelsea and Alvin Perry of Paden; four grandchildren, Joshua and Kaylan Ramsey and Trevor and Braden Porter, all of Seminole.

Pallbearers will be Tony Perry, Chris Perry, Justin Merrell and Scott Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be other nephews.

Ellis loved her grandchildren, going fishing and canning vegetables.

She was a kind-hearted, caring woman who will be missed by her family and friends.

Officiating the service will be Revs. James Baldridge and Bob Woodward.

Interment will be at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Gerald Elmore

Funeral services for former Seminole Pastor and resident Gerald Winston Elmore, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Cowley-Krien Funeral Home in Sulphur.

Ronnie Elmore will officiate the services and will be assisted by Robert Green.

Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Resthaven Cemetery in Seminole, under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.

Gerald passed away on Friday, May 9, 2003 at Southeast Medical Center in Durant at the age of 78.

He was born to Floyd Elmore and Floy (Gordon) Elmore on Aug. 27, 1924 in Springer.

Gerald was born and raised in Springer, and on Nov. 27, 1947, he married his wife Terleen in Gainesville, Texas.

He lived and owned business in Seminole, Holdenville, and Pauls Valley, and moved to Sulphur in 1974 where he lived the remainder of his life.

Gerald was a former pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Seminole, and was presently serving as the Chaplain for the Sulphur Veterans Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herman Elmore; and one sister, Wanda Williams.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Terleen, of the home; one son, Joe Elmore and his wife Connie of Seminole; six grandchildren, Amy Elmore, Ada, Gordon Elmore, Sarah Biffle and her husband Brandon, Patrick Elmore, Lori Elmore, and Kirby and her husband Chad Richards, Seminole; two brothers, Sterling Elmore, Wewoka and George Elmore, Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Thomas, Ft. Worth, Texas, Maxine Priddy, Sulphur, and Dorothy Spicer, Pasidena, Texas.

Pauline Marie Elmore

Funeral services for Pauline Marie Elmore are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robin Watts officiating.

Elmore passed away on June 25, 2003 at the age of 73, at Norman Regional Hospital.

She was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Reece, Kan. to Clyde and Sophia Gertrude (Wittenmeyer) Baker.

She and George H. Elmore were married on Dec. 11, 1947 and he preceded her in death of April 5, 1999.

She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Okfuskee County since 1976.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Michael Elmore; and one sister, Kate Wilson.

Survivors include her grauddaughter, Julie Elmore Butler and husband Richard of Okemah; daughter-in-law, Carolyn S. Elmore of Okemah; one brohter William ‘Bill’ Baker of Haywood, Calif.; step-grandchildren, Marian Hand and Sherry Croney of Arkansas; Johnny Croney of Okemah; Lisa and Tim Grooms of Okemah; one niece, Carol Ogburn and husband, Alan of Texas, two nephews, Doug Wilson and wife, Jo of Tulsa and Larry Wilson; one brother-in-law, Jim Elmore and wife, Twila; three sister-in-laws, Alyce Watts and husband Gerald, Leta Elmore and Tina Elmore.

She is also survived by 15 step-great-grandchildren, Rachel Vorhees and husband Chris of Arkansas, Scott Hand of Seminole, Madeline Coon of Arkansas, Ashley, Amber, Alicia, Andrea, Johnny Jr. and Jeremy Croney of Keystone, David Croney, Allen Croney both of Arkansas, Crystal Magness, Austin Magness, Lauren Scran and Samantha Grooms, all of Okemah; and four step-great-great grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Parker and McKinsey Vorhees of Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Tim Grooms, Tom Grace, Scott Hand, Jim Elmore, Robin Watts and Rocky Duke.

Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Robert Earl Endwright

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Robert Earl Endwright, were scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Little Cemetery with Rev. Daniel McCracken officiating.

He died June 28, 2003, at the age of 68, in Sunset Estates of Maud Care Center.

He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Mitchell, Ind., to Earl Michael Endwright and Pearl G. (Green) Endwright.

He was married to Wanda L. Hatfield on Sept. 8. 1978, in Durant.

He was the produce manager for Stone’s IGA Grocery in Oklahoma City in Shepard Mall, retiring in 1992.

He was affiliated with the Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father on Aug. 12, 1992; mother on Jan. 6, 2002; one son, Thomas Bennett in 2000; and one daughter, Pattie Rose in 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Endwright, of the home; one son, Kenny Bennett of Shawnee; two daughters, Terry McCracken of Maud and Betty Webster of Seminole; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Interment will be under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Karen Lee Etier

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Karen Lee Etier of Sasakwa, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Criswell Chapel in Ada with Rev. John Haynes officiating under the direction Criswell Funeral Home in Ada.

She died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the age of 56 near Sasakwa.

She was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Molalla, Ore. to Grant (Bo) Burden and Lois Jean (Kyllo) Burden.

They came to Oklahoma from Oregon in 1970.

She attended Seminole State College for three years and East Central University for four years, receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and had been working towards her master’s degree.

She also attended Oregon City Beauty School.

She was married to Edgar Leon Eteier on Feb. 18, 1989.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar Leon Etier, of the home, mother, Jean Burden and father and stepmother, Bo and Marlis Burden, all of Molalla, Ore.; one son, Dennis Holumn of Aurora, Neb.; one daughter, Schantie Roberts of Ada; two stepsons, Alan Hellman of Phoenix, Ariz. and Eddie Etier of Ada; one stepdaughter, Angel Webster of Allen; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother Dennis Burden; and one half brother, Tommy Burden, both of Molalla, Ore.

Pallbearers are Daniel Webster, Eddie Etier, Tommy Roberts, Todd Ogorzlka, Dennis Burden and Dewayne Etier.

Doris Eubanks Ortman

Graveside services for Doris Eubanks Ortman are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

She died at the age of 72 at Boice Manor Nursing Center in Holdenville, where she was a mediation aide for 22 years.

She was born on December 6, 1930 to D.M. and Mollie Frances (Howell) Eubanks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Ortman; and two sisters, Juanita Venis and Letha Hadley.

Survivors include a son, Erick Ortman of the home; two sisters, longtime Seminole resident, Helen Terrell of Shawnee and Mable Wright of Green Valley, Calif.; one brother Doyle Eubanks of El Paso, Ark; and many nieces and nephews.

The casket will be open Thursday for viewing and will remain closed for services.

E.G. Evans

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, E.G. Evans are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Hutchinson with Pastor Ray Kempel officiating.

He died Aug. 13, 2003, at the age of 81 at the Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born June 22, 1922, to Charles and Maggie Cole Evans in Cleveland.

He married Doris Beal on Aug. 7, 1947 in Seminole.

He had been a resident of Hutchinson since 1999.

He was a supervisor for Cities Service Oil Company in St. John, Kansas.

He served in the United States Army in the 45th Infantry Division during World War II.

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the Lions Club in Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rodger Evans and three brothers, Leon Evans, Carl Evans and Vernie Evans.

Survivors include one son, Harvey Evans of Hutchinson; two sisters, Barbara Wusk of Coffeyville, Kansas and Peggy Lumly of Wichita, Kansas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. on Friday at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with Pastor Steve Kline presiding.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church building fund or the Hutchinson Breakfast Lions Club and sent in care of the funeral home.

Virgie Ruth Evans

Funeral services for life long Seminole resident, Virgie Ruth Evans are scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Gaililee Baptist Temple of Praise and Deliverance in Seminole.

She died July 29, 2003, at the age of 73 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 18, 1930, in Seminole to Virgil Evans and Leora (Smith).

She was a homemaker; worked at Ray’s Central Drug for years; hairdresser and did domestic work for several Seminole residents.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Seminole as well as being a member of several ministries at Ebenezer.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leora Smith; and two brothers, Johnnie W. King and Willie L. ‘Jabo’ Smith.

She is survived by her children, Lavisa K. Purify of Midwest City, Vanessa Woodfork of Norman and Chez Evans of Moore; other daughters, Mel Osborn and Markie Orf of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous other cousins and in-laws.

Casket bearers are Zelford Smith, Kelvin Smith, Johnnie King, Jr., Derrick King, Larry King, Maurice King and Dexter Brown.

Honorary bearers are Bruce Patterson, Harold Cudjoe, Charlie Trulove, Earnest Stillwell, Reginald Knighton, Lawrence Smith and Reggie Wright.

Flower girls are Corrine Johnson and the members of the Womens Missionary Union at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Revs. Larry Payne will officiate the service with Gregory B. Benjamin assisting.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
