Gracie LaVeta Fitzgerald

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Gracie Lavita Fitzgerald are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Dr. Kelvin Moseley will officiate.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

She died Aug. 29, 2003, at the age of 64 at her home in Seminole.

She was born Oct. 10, 1939 in Searcy, Ark. to Jewell McKinney and Ettie Ruth (Berry) McKinney.

She married Paul Huie Fitzgerald on Dec. 24, 1958 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

She managed a motel in California.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jewell McKinney.

Survivors include her mother, Ettie Ruth McKinney of Bakersfield, Calif; husband, Paul Fitzgerald of the home; one son, Joseph Eugene Cameron of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Sherri Costerisan of Seminole and Brenda Fitzgerald of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Roy Dean McKinney of Lake Isabella, Calif. and Jay Hays of Edmond; two sisters, Bonnie Jean Kiser of Bakersfield, Calif. and Debra Lipe of Russellville, Ark.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Linda Flaherty

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Linda Jo (Hunter) Flaherty were scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Guardian West Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Flaherty died Monday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the age of 57 in Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 14, 1946 on Oklahoma City to Bennie and Edna (Malay) Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by one son, Jason Flaherty; ex-husband and companion, Jack Flaherty; one sister, Brenda Grothe; and one granddaughter.

Freda Fleming

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Freda June (Mainord) Fleming, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka.

Brother Tim Emmons of Prague will officiate.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

A prayer service is scheduled for tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.

Freda passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the age of 62, following a brief courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Seminole on March 13, 1940, to Grover Samuel Mainord and Bertha Mainord.

Freda grew up in Seminole County and graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1958.

Freda and Jimmie Dale Fleming were married in Wewoka on Aug. 27, 1981, and the couple made Wewoka their home.

She worked for Ben’s Bar-B-Que in Wewoka for a number of years and was currently employed as department head in jewelry for Wal-Mart Associates.

Freda was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Glendon and Garland Mainord; one grandson, Jory McLoud Griffin; and her mother and father-in-law, Papa and Nan Watson.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; her mother, Mrs. G.S. Mainord, Bowlegs; her children and their spouses, John David and Dawn Griffin, Prague, Jan and Paul Harris, Bogalusa, La., James "Sparky" and Beth Griffin, Patuxent River, Md., Dina Lynn Griffin, Dallas, Texas, Misty Ann and Chris Crowson, Wewoka, Denice and Dave Hardy, San Antonio, Texas, Terri and Decker Sanders, Mt. Home, Idaho, and John Doyle Fleming, San Antonio, Texas; eight grandsons, 10 granddaughters; and two great-grandsons; her siblings, Hope and Bill Taylor, Broken Arrow, Marcine Roberson, Bowlegs, Dean McNally, Atoka, Deloris and JR Jennings, San Angelo, Texas, Evelyn and James Stevens, Ardmore, Carolyn and Charles Dean, Pauls Valley, Lynda and Lynn Tipton, Euless, Texas, and Gilbert and Mary Ann Mainord, Enid; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be John David Griffin, James "Sparky" Griffin, Billy Dale Cecil, Chris Crowson, Paul Harris, and Lyndal McMillan.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Thomas Griffin, Michael David Griffin, Dave Hardy, John Doyle Fleming, Tyler Climer, Nathan Griffin, and Braeden Griffin.

Richard Fleming

Funeral services for Konawa resident Richard "Dick" Milam Fleming are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Community Church in Konawa.

Revs. Drew Isaacs and James Pendleton will officiate.

Memorial services and burial will be at 4 p.m. at Memorial Gardens in Muskogee, under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Fleming passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 55.

He was born to Robert Earl Fleming and Claudine Alma (Milam) Fleming on March 31, 1948 in Tulsa.

Fleming married Vicki Boydstun on June 3, 1972 in Muskogee.

The couple moved to Konawa from Rattan in 1989.

Fleming was a teacher and coach at Konawa High School, retiring in May 2002, and was currently an insurance agent for Horace Mann Insurance Company.

He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Konawa; a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association; a member of the National Rifle Association; a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association; and was an ordained minister with the Federation of Christian Churches.

Fleming was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Fleming, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Lance and Leslie Fleming of Okmulgee, and Nathan Lee and Amanda Fleming of Ada; one daughter, Chelsea Renee Fleming, of the home; one brother, Joe Lee Fleming, Winnsboro, Texas; and five grandchildren, Darius Fleming, Christopher Lance Fleming, Jr., Lex Fleming, Jaylee Fleming, and Brooklynn Fleming.

Casket bearers will be Richard Hendershott, Larry Walsch, Danny Freeman, Dave George, Darryl Brooks, and Alton Wood.

Honorary bearers will be all of Dick’s former baseball players and softball players.

Della Keith Foree

Memorial services for former Seminole County resident, Della Keith Foree are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Park Cities Baptist Church in Ellis Chapel, Dallas, Texas at 3 p.m.

She died Aug. 16, 2003, at the age of 96.

She was born in Decatur, Ark. on Jan. 2, 1907.

She was the widow of Robert L. Foree, Sr., a prominent oil producer and member of a pioneer Dallas family.

They were married for 60 years until his death in 1988.

Her childhood home was in Wewoka and she attended Oklahoma University, majoring in drama.

Throughout her life she enjoyed artistic endeavors, including designing and decorating her homes as well as oil painting.

At the time of her death she had been a member of Park Cities Baptist Church for 13 years and a member of the JOY Class where she served as president.

Previously her membership along with many family members was at Highland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.

She also led a Sunday school class for the Mary True Home.

She had served on the board of directors at Dallas Baptist University and received an Honorary Doctorate in 2001, in recognition of her service to the university.

She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, the Dallas Woman’s Club and formerly served on the board of governors.

Other organizations included the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, DAR, past president of both the Shakespeare Followers and the Lakeside Browning Club, Brook Hollow Golf Club and the Dallas Petroleum Club.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Royal Kendrick Pearcy and one great granddaughter.

Survivors include one son, Robert L. Foree; daughters, Barbara Wallace, Elizabeth Lee and Nancilee Foree; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 18 at Sparkman Hillcrest from 6-8 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be her five grandsons.

Family requests no flowers but can make memorials to the Park Cities Baptist Church building fund or a charity of your choice.

Donald Foster

Funeral services for Donald Edmond Foster, father of Seminole resident Carl Foster, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Earlsboro.

Rev. Bryan Pain officiated the services.

Interment followed at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Bethel Acres, under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Foster died Friday, April 18, 2003 at an Oklahoma City Hospital at the age of 72.

He was born to Edmond Wiley Foster and Myrtle Jane Baker Foster on Aug. 17, 1930 in Grant.

Foster attended Hugo Public Schools and graduated from Hugo High School.

Foster received a Theology Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

He married Mary Alice Griffin on Oct. 15, 1952 at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Foster served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1965.

He had been stationed at Anchorage, Alaska, Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, and Patrick Air Force Base in Florida.

Foster was a Southern Baptist Minister, serving churches in Bromide, Wade, and Leon Baptist Churches in Oklahoma.

He then served as a church planter in Freeport, Ill., and Galesburg, Ill.

Foster then moved back to Oklahoma and served as pastor at Bently, Centrahoma, Gene Autry, Holdenville, Okemah, and retired from Locust Grove in Lipscomb, Texas.

At the time of his death, Foster was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Foster, of the home; four daughters, Alice Tackett, Shawnee, Donna Kline, Moore, Peggy Robbins, Earlsboro, and Sally Bingham, Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons, Tom Foster, Earlsboro and Carl Foster, Seminole; three sisters, Lavada Keen, Meeker, Goldie Whitlock, Norman, and Naomi Nakamura, Norman; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
