Donald Foster

Funeral services for Donald Edmond Foster, father of Seminole resident Carl Foster, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Earlsboro.

Rev. Bryan Pain officiated the services.

Interment followed at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Bethel Acres, under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Foster died Friday, April 18, 2003 at an Oklahoma City Hospital at the age of 72.

He was born to Edmond Wiley Foster and Myrtle Jane Baker Foster on Aug. 17, 1930 in Grant.

Foster attended Hugo Public Schools and graduated from Hugo High School.

Foster received a Theology Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

He married Mary Alice Griffin on Oct. 15, 1952 at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Foster served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1965.

He had been stationed at Anchorage, Alaska, Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, and Patrick Air Force Base in Florida.

Foster was a Southern Baptist Minister, serving churches in Bromide, Wade, and Leon Baptist Churches in Oklahoma.

He then served as a church planter in Freeport, Ill., and Galesburg, Ill.

Foster then moved back to Oklahoma and served as pastor at Bently, Centrahoma, Gene Autry, Holdenville, Okemah, and retired from Locust Grove in Lipscomb, Texas.

At the time of his death, Foster was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Foster, of the home; four daughters, Alice Tackett, Shawnee, Donna Kline, Moore, Peggy Robbins, Earlsboro, and Sally Bingham, Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons, Tom Foster, Earlsboro and Carl Foster, Seminole; three sisters, Lavada Keen, Meeker, Goldie Whitlock, Norman, and Naomi Nakamura, Norman; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lindil ‘Pete’ Fowler

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Lindil "Pete" Fowler, were scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.

Brother James Freeman was to officiate.

Burial was to follow at the Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Fowler died Friday, April 18, 2003 at his home in Tishomingo at the age of 78.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1924 in Holdenville and attended Butner and Wewoka Schools.

Fowler married Betty Burris on Nov. 5, 1947 in Hobbs, N.M.

The couple were saved in 1956 while attending the Highland Baptist Church in Duncan.

Fowler was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.

He worked for over 20 years in the oil field.

Fowler operated a trucking company for 10 years and worked with the Dresser Engineering Company for 10 years, retiring from Dresser in 1979.

He continued to work for the Bevelhymer Industrial Cleaning Company in Texas for three years.

The couple returned to Seminole and lived here for 20 years.

The couple moved to Tishomingo in August of 2002.

Fowler was preceded in death by one daughter; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Lindil Fowler, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William Francis, Jr.

Graveside services for Wewoka resident William Ray Francis, Jr., were scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Oakwood Cemetery.

Rev. Steve Chesser will officiate.

Interment will follow, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Mr. Francis passed away Friday, May 9, 2003 at OU Medical Center-Presbyterian Tower in Oklahoma City at the age of 56.

He was born to William Ray Francis, Sr., and Phyllis Faye (Barrier) Francis on Nov. 12, 1946 in Lakewood, Calif.

Mr. Francis had been a resident of Farris State Hospital in Costa Mesa, Calif., and of the Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole, for a number of years prior to transferring to Oakridge Nursing Home in Wewoka in 1999.

He was a special member of the family at Oakridge and will be missed by all.

Mr. Francis is survived by his step-father, Audie Holbert, and step-sister, Audene Whitley, both of Seminole; and by his family, the staff and residents of Oakridge Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Roy Fry

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Roy Charles Fry of Konawa, were set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1913 in Newton, Kan. to Frank Richard Fry and Bertha Elizabeth (Rath) Fry.

He died on May 22, 2003 at the age of 89 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.

He married Barbara "Olene" (Barton) Fry on July 25, 1936 in Purcell.

He was retired from Kraft Foods and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fry of the Home; two children, Roy Fry, Jr. of Chihuahua, Mexico and Monte Surber of Konawa; one brother, Roland Fry of Altus; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Officiating the service will be Rev. Charley Henthorn under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Nettie M. Furgerson

Funeral services for Nettie M. Furgerson will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Asher.

Rev. Donna Morton is set to officiate.

Interment will follow at the Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Furgerson died Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Unity North Health Center in Shawnee.

She was born Sept. 21, 1918 in Fort Cobb to James Lee Matthews and Louella (Landers) Matthews.

She married Cassie Hays Furgerson on Oct. 1, 1932 in Seminole. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1988.

Furgerson was a homemaker and an in-home provider for the elderly and a member of the Assembly of God Faith church.

She is survived by one son, Hays Eugene Furgerson of Chandler; two daughters, Francis Beggs of Commanche, Tx. And Wanda Faught of Stockton, Ca; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, J.C. Matthews of Lake Elisnore, Ca. and Elmer Matthews of Modesto, Ca.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Raymond Gamble

Funeral services for Raymond "Red" Gamble, father of Seminole County residents, are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Cooper Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robert Brasier officiating.

Interment will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

He died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the age of 78 in Seminole.

He was born Feb. 16, 1925, in McLoud to Arthur Lee and Emma Faye (Cash) Gamble.

He grew up in Harjo and was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma.

He married Betty Moutaw in 1949 and worked in the oil industry for over 50 years as a contracted pumper, retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed coon hunting, bird hunting dancing and playing shuffleboard.

He was involved in competitive coon hunts for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by a special friend, Bonnie Reich of Wewoka, three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Joyce Gamble and John and Sharon Gamble, all of Seminole and Debbie Gamble of Earlsboro; four grandsons and their spouses, Jackie and Billie Gamble, Mike Gamble and Lacy Taylor, and A.J. Wilson, all of Earlsboro and Brandon Gamble of Tecumseh; one granddaughter, LaChrisa Gamble of Maud; four great granddaughters, Brooke Gamble, Faythe Gamble, Jaycee Gamble and Rian Gamble; former spouse, Betty Gamble of Seminole; three brothers, Virgle Gamble of Modesto, Calif;, Joe Gamble of Seminole and Bill Gamble of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Judith "Beck" Moutaw of Earlsboro, Myrtle Holmes of Sacto, Calif. and Ana Burdgen of Modesto, Calif.

Patsy Garner

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Patsy Darlene Garner are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Stout Phillips Chapel in Wewoka.

Services will conclude at the chapel, cremation will follow.

She died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the age of 65 in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born Jan. 28, 1938, in Sasakwa to James Aud and Mildred Mary Brown.

She was employed by the Cox Communication Company from July 1, 1976, until Oct. 1, 2003, as a customer service representative.

She attended school in Sasakwa.

She married Ivey Garner on Dec. 4, 1957.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Aud Brown in 1969, one great granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Sanford and one brother, Roy Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Ivey Garner of the home; her children, Lori Johnson and Kenneth of Wewoka, Kevin Garner and Diana of Holdenville, Kim Williams of Oklahoma City and Christina Churchwell and Brian of Seminole; her mother, Mary Mildred Brown of Wewoka; grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Levi Garner, Edwin and Leslie Williams, Kari and Jana Arnn, Colton Johnson, Tristan and Tyler Churchwell; great grandchild, Kamden Arnn; one brother, James Brown of Brownsville, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Calvert and David of Wewoka and Artie Nogle of Sasakwa; one aunt, Hazel Lenahan of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Clark Anderson, Maurice Morgan, Jimmy Riler, Randy Hinckley, Eugene Biller and Gene McDowell.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Jr. Grizzle, John Barner, David Calvert, Lewis Johnson, Andy Johnson, John Kirby and the Odd Fellow Lodge #99.
