Harold Reynolds ‘Red’ Hart

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Harold Reynolds "Red" Hart have been scheduled for 1 p.m.. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ with Scott Sheppard officiating.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas.

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m.

Hart died after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1922 to Lena and James Derrell Hart in Madill.

He was the ninth of ten children, six girls and four boys.

His father was a dentist who later moved to and raised his family in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Hart graduated from Wewoka High School in 1940 and began attending Oklahoma University in Norman.

He loved Wewoka and attended most high school reunions and homecomings.

Upon the commencement of World War II, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and proudly served his country in the South Pacific.

When the war was over, Hart began attending Harding College (now University) in Searcy, Ark.

It was there that he met and married the love of his life and wife of nearly 57 years, Mamie Jo Woody.

They were blessed with three daughters over the next 12 years.

Hart and his wife were very active church members at Fairmont Park Church of Christ where Red served as a deacon for many years.

He was the deacon in charge of benevolence, which indeed says, a great deal about his character.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Hart of Midland, Texas; his three daughters, Dianne Garrett, Connie Gaultney and Sandra Boyd, all of Midland; three brothers, James Derrell Hart of Wewoka; George Hart of Little Rock, Ark.; Allwyn Hart of Searcy, Ark.; and sister, Evelyn Burrows of Wewoka.

The family request that memorials be directed to Fairmont Park Church of Christ, Mission Fund, 3813 N. Midland Dr., Midland, Texas 79707 or Midland Christian School, 2001 Culver, Midland, Texas 79705.

Cora Bell Harty

Private services for native Seminole County resident, Cora Bell Harty will be scheduled at a later date.

Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

She died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the age of 79 in Shawnee.

She was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Wewoka to Will and Elizabeth (Johnston) Campbell.

She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Wewoka and Shawnee before moving to Tecumseh in 1999.

She married Henery Paul Blackwood, who preceded her in death and later married Lewis Harty, who also preceded her in death.

Her parents; two sisters, Jessie DeLeon and Viola Climer; one brother, Jack Campbell and one grandson, Jeffory Templeton, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Betty Cain of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Elaine Copeland of Tecumseh; three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Sheryl Harvey

Funeral services for Sheryl Sue (Gerlach) Harvey, a former copy and layout editor with the Daily Oklahoman, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday in the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha.

Rev. Guy Langston will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, under the direction of McRay Funeral Home of Chickasha.

Sheri passed away at her home in Brighton, Colo., at the age of 46.

She was born Dec. 17, 1956 in Tulsa, the third child and second daughter of Bobbie Jean and Stanley Gerlach.

She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1975.

In 1980, she graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. Degree in Journalism.

Sheri belonged to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and played on the OU women’s golf team.

She worked as a copy and layout editor at the Daily Oklahoman until her marriage in 1982, at which time she moved to New Orleans and worked on the news desk at the Times-Picayune newspaper.

In 1986, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, and continued her newspaper career.

Sheri covered golf and wrote a twice weekly golf column for the Express-News newspaper.

Shortly after her son was born in 1988, Sheri and her family moved to Denver, Colo., where she worked at the Denver post and the Rocky Mountain News.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie Jean and Stanley Gerlach; and grandparents, Wilma and Haskell Bethurum and Nell Gerlach.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey and one son, Craig Paul Harvey, both of Brighton, Colo.; one sister, Gayle and her husband Robert Stewart, Spicewood, Texas; one brother, Craig Gerlach, Fairbanks, Alaska; one nephew, Connor Gerlach, Fairbanks, Alaska; and numerous other family and friends.

Roy Hasbell

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Roy Hasbell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept 15, 2003, in Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.

Officiating the services will be Dale Toles and Quincy Hammons.

Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

He died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at the age of 45 in Tecumseh.

He was born Sept. 27, 1957, in Dallas, Texas to Albert and Dean (Peepers) Hasbell.

He attended school at Wolf but has lived in Tecumseh for the past 15 years.

He married Dorothy Davis Jan. 11, 1976.

He worked at Oldcastle Glass and was a member of the General Assembly of the First Born.

He was a game fowl breeder and participated in the sport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dean Hasbell and one sister, Wanda Jean Hasbell.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hasbell of the home, three sons, Roy Hasbell Jr. of Shawnee, Keith Hasbell of Oklahoma City and Brian Hasbell of the home; one sister, Kathy Upton of Tecumseh; three brothers, Herbert Hasbell of Pearson, Tommy Hasbell of Chandler and Bobby Hasbell of Seminole; five granddaughters; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends.

John ‘Lloyd’ Hathcock, Sr.

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, John ‘Lloyd’ Hathcock, Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.

He died July 27, 2003, at the age of 91 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Norman.

He was born November 9, 1911, in Asher to Craven DeLong Hathcock and Sarah (Robbins) King.

He was married to Dorothy Mae Smith on Jan. 5, 1946 in Leman, Ariz.

He was an auto mechanic and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 3102nd Vehicle Maintenance Company as a Technician fourth Grade.

The Hathcock’s lived in Bokchito for 30 yers before moving to Maud in 1985, then in 1990, he moved to Norman.

He was a affiliated with the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Hathcock on Feb. 28. 1989.

He is survived by one son, John L. Hathcock, Jr. of Payson, Utah; one daughter, Sharon Lewis of Shawnee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.

Alice Haworth

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Alice Haworth are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Revs. Allen Wood and Dale Stephens will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Crossroads Cemetery in Sasakwa, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Haworth died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at the Noble Health Care Center at the age of 77.

She was born to Luther Franklin Lee and Ruth Ester (White) Lee on Nov. 7, 1925 in Sasakwa.

She married Loyd E. Haworth on March 19, 1939 in Sasakwa.

He preceded her in death on April 3, 1977.

Haworth was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a member of the Assembly of God.

Haworth was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Harold and Lee Roy Haworth; two brothers, Roy Aubrey and Troy Audrey Lee; and one great-granddaughter, Emilee McCay.

She is survived by one son, Donald R. Haworth, Waukomis; two daughters, Mary Alice Culver, Springfield, Mo., and Ann Jackson, Norman; two sisters, Gladys Brinsfield, Seminole, and Freda Stephens, Guymon; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Mike Jackson, Steven Jackson, Matthew Haworth, Don Haworth, David Culver, Marc Hailey, and Sam Haworth.

Honorary bearers will be Jerry Stephens, James Stephens, Kenny Stephens, Dale Stephens, Frank Brinsfield, and Johnny Brinsfield.
