Funeral services for Wallace E. Hill, Wewoka resident, will be Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 1 p.m., at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Wewoka.
Hill was born June 11, 1931, in Seminole County to Claude and Virginia Wright Hill.
He died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Baptist Integris Hospital, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 72.
Wallace attended Center Elementary in Cromwell, Oklahoma, and graduated from Douglas High School, Oklahoma City, in 1951.
He was employed at Tinker Airforce Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
He moved to Seattle, Washington, to work for Douglas Aircraft.
He then moved to Los Angeles, California, and was employed by Hughes Aircraft until his retirement in 1986.
He married his high school sweetheart, Thelma Douglas.
Two daughters were born to this marriage.
He later married Dorothy Larkins. There were no children born to this union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Calvin and Repo Hill, and three sisters; Pauline Hill, Claudia Jones and Gertrude Barkus.
He is survived by his daughters, Ruby Hill Walker, Los Angeles, Calif., and Debra Hill Willis, Mesa, Ariz. one sister, Virgie Mae Parker, Cromwell; and one brother, Ralph Hill of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery.
Lafayette ‘Lee’ Naron Himes
Funeral services for Seminole County resident Lafayette "Lee" Naron Himes are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa.
He died June 12, 2003, at the age of 79, at his home in Konawa.
He was born Nov. 28, 1923 in Talihina to Babe Himes and May (Foster) Himes.
He married Viola Thompson on Feb. 16, 1972 in Algiers, La.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired Merchant Seaman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Billy Himes; and one daughter, Glenda Stark.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Himes, of the home; two sons, Jesse Gregory of Eufaula and Gene Gregory of New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Brenda Northweather of Claremore and Linda Warner of Vinita; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grand children, two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Tessie McFadden of Oklahoma City.
Casket bearers will be Steven McFadden, Shane McFadden, Michael Koman, Irl Warner, John Northweather and Eddie Wyeth.
Honorary bearers are Jimmy Aldridge, Robert Davis, James Northweather, Gary Martin and Steven Nelms.
Officiating the services will be Gloria Myer and Rev. Mitch Williams.
Interment will follow at the Konawa City Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.
Cretaylor Hinex
Funeral for former Seminole County resident, Cretaylor Hinex are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Winrow officiating.
Interment will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Hinex died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at the age of 73 at Norman Veteran’s Center.
He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Boley to Joseph Hinex and Ethel (Talley) Hinex.
He graduated from Dunbar High School.
He was married to Ollie Ruth (Winrow) Hinex on July 19, 1953.
He was retired from Kaiser Steel with 17 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from April 30, 1951 to April 30, 1953.
Hinex was known for his humor and love of animals, especially horses and dogs.
No one could nurse a sick animal back to health like "Cree."
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Joseph Hinex, Larry Hinex and Opal Johnson.
He is survived by his spouse, Ollie Ruth Hinex; two daughters, Delores Richard and Angie Lee, both of San Bernadino, Calif.; two brothers, Johnny Lee Hinex of San Jose, Calif. and George Hinex of Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Pauline Winrow and Willa Mae Stargell of Earlsboro, Wilma Neil of Anchorage, Ak. and Jo Ann Samilton of Tulsa; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Casket bearers include Curtis Hinex, Joseph Hinex III, Arlander Winrow, James Samilton Sr. James Samilton Jr. and Anthony Samilton.
Honorary bearers are Robert L. Richard IV, Robert L. Richard III, Johnny Lee Hinex, George Hinex, C.D. Norman and Booker Winrow.
Le Ella Hisaw
Memorial services for former Seminole County resident, Le Ella Hisaw are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City with Rev. Bob Rutherford officiating.
Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Harrell Rodebush officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home of Del City.
She died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2003, at the age of 95.
She was born Jan. 18, 1908, one of nine children to Robert E. and Arlene L. Johnson.
She grew up on a farm in Perry County, Ark. and married Joseph A. Hisaw on March 14, 1929.
He preceded her in death of Feb. 2, 1978.
They moved to Wewoka from Arkansas and lived there for the next 48 years, and had a wonderful life together.
They were blessed with three children.
The Hisaws were strong Christians and placed their lives in the First Baptist Church of Wewoka.
After her husband’s death, she moved to Midwest City and joined the Meadowood Baptist Church where she was very active.
She loved the Lord and loved teaching his word.
She taught Sunday school for over 52 years.
Her long years of service and the way she lived her life made her an example and a role model for not only family members, but for all who knew her.
She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Easter Star.
She worked for JC Penny’s in Wewoka for 27 years.
After she retired, she worked in children’s preschool for the next 13 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, and a very precious grandchild.
She is survived by one son, Gerald Ray Hisaw and wife, Carolyn of Broken Arrow; two daughters, Jo Ann Estell and husband, Bob of Midwest City and Joy Hicks of Marlow; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Sanders of Del City; one brother, Gurdon Johnson and wife, Ruby of Wewoka; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
This precious and remarkable lady touched so many lives and although she will be greatly missed, she leaves to her children and grandchildren, a wonderful legacy of Christian love and faith that will sustain them all their lives.
James Hixon
Funeral services for Seminole native James Lee Hixon, 72, were held Monday in Longview, Texas.
Burial followed this morning in Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Hixon died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at his home in Longview.
He was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Seminole to Wayne Jesse and Lavera Chrystal (Goins) Hixon.
He attended school at Prairie View and graduated from Seminole High School.
After several years in college, Hixon enlisted in the US Air Force in 1950 and obtained the rank of staff sergeant. He finished his tour of duty in 1954.
Hixon worked most of his life in the oil field and retired from Axelson, Inc., now owned by Haliburton, in 1997 after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was an ordained Southern Baptist minister and had pastored several churches in Oklahoma.
He married Helen Grace Moravits on Feb. 2, 1952. They were happily married for nearly 52 years; she survives him of the home.
Other survivors include daughters, Sharon Contreras of Norman and Barbara Hixon of Dallas; one son, David Hixon, Idabel; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, Texas, 75605.
Charles Ashley Hoglan
Funeral services for Wewoka resident, Charles Ashley Hoglan are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, south west of Wewoka.
Mr. Hoglan passed away June 8, 2003, at his home at the age of 102 years.
He was born February 26, 1901 in Rover, Arkansas to John Boston Hoglan and Mary Rebecca Witt.
He worked as a mechanic in Wewoka and retired in 1966.
He was then self-employed as a Rancher and hay bailer until 1995.
He was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church for 50 years where he served as deacon.
Hoglan was married to Lucille (Thomas) Hoglan on October 4, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hoglan of Wewoka; three Step Children: Ed Black of Blackwell; Tom Black of Wewoka; and Patricia Cokeley of Seminole; 7 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and other relatives and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Hoglan, his first wife, Beulah Bohanana Hoglan; two sons, Jack Colbert and Pete Pitchlynn; and one brother, Capp Hoglan; and two sisters, Salley Morris and Ida Smith; and one grandson Bobby Colbert.
Pallbearers will include Eddie Black, Travis Black, Justin Orr, Eddie Colbert, Cletus Colbert and Gary Pitchlynn.
Honorary Pallbearers Melisa Kennedy, Yvonne Matthews, Aislinn Nix, Roberta Wright and Charlene Wall.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Charles Hoglan’s name.
Reverend Doyle Gadberry will officiate.
Interment will follow at Tate Mountain Cemetery, S.W. of Wewoka, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
