Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Janine Mae House are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Rev. E.G. Bert of St. Stephens Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka.
House died Monday, April 21, 2003 at the Four Seasons Nursing Home in Durant at the age of 86.
She was born to James and Jennie (Johnson) House on March 30, 1917 in Wewoka.
House lived in Wewoka all of her early years, before moving to California.
She worked as a housekeeper for many years, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
She later returned to Oklahoma and when her health began to fail, she was moved to the Four Seasons Nursing Home in Durant.
House was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Gracie, Maggie, Elizabeth, Idabel, Earline, and Sally; and one brother, Wardell House.
She is survived by one son, Rev. A.L. Sparks, Burlington, Iowa; one brother, Oliver House, Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dewey ‘Dude’ Houston
Graveside services will be held for Seminole County resident, Dewey ‘Dude’ Houston on Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Vamoosa Cemetery.
Houston passed away in Wewoka, on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the age of 82 years.
Dude was born in Sasakwa on December 30, 1920, the son of James Henry and Nora (Bryant) Houston.
He was reared and attended schools in Sasakwa.
Following graduation from Sasakwa High School he moved to Arizona, then joined the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He spent several hours in the Pacific Ocean with severe injuries in a Kamikaze attack, earning the Purple Heart.
Following his military service he returned to Arizona, where he worked in the copper mines at Miami.
He came back to Oklahoma in the mid-1960's, worked in the oil fields, and made his home in the Seminole area.
Dude was an intellectual recluse, an avid reader who prized his solitude.
He was also an accomplished musician, and loved playing fiddle in a band called ‘The Drifters’.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Houston; two brothers: James A. Houston and Emmitt Houston; three sisters: Savilla Harrod, Roselle Isler, and Ruby Kennedy.
He is survived by two brothers: Joy Houston and wife, Alice, of Ada, OK and Preston Houston of Columbus, Ohio; one sister: Estelle Lyon of Wewoka; six nieces: Veta Moore and husband, Cecil, of Wewoka; Joanne Stewart and husband, Eddie, of Huntsville, Ala; Aline Girton and husband, Ralph, of Edmond; Bennie Tipton and husband, Don, of Dallas, Texas; Sherry Wyrick and husband, Dave, of Wellston, and Susan Blanton of Chandler; four nephews: Roger Harrod and wife, Nancy, of Konawa; Ronnie Houston and wife, Barbara, of Ada; Kevin Calvert of Ada, and James Ray Kennedy of Payson, Ariz; and many other relatives and friends.
Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Erik Howard
Memorial services for former Seminole County resident, Erik Charles Howard will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Services are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Howard passed away at his home in Holdenville on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at the age of 33.
He was born May 11, 1970 in Tustin, Calif. to Billy and Brenda (McFerrin) Howard.
He was brought up in the Bakersfield area and attended and graduated from schools there.
Howard married Tammy Sanders Dec. 5, 1995 at Little Rock, Ark.
The couple made there home in Seminole for several years before moving to Holdenville in August of this year.
He worked as a mechanic in the oil and natural gas industry.
He loved to fish and hunt and he attended the Church of the Refuge.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Howard, of Seminole; his son, Matt Sanders of Seminole; mother and step-father, Brenda and David Barrett of Bakersfield, Calif., father and step-mother, David and Teresa Howard of Bakersfield, Calif., maternal grandparents, Charles and Greta McFerrin of Hugo; paternal grandfather, Bill Howard of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Matt Howard and Clint Howard both of Bakersfield, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
Mary Howard
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Mary Jane Howard are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole.
Rev. Basil Keenan, OSB, will officiate.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.
Mary passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 53.
She was born in Falfurrias, Texas to Robert G. Howard and Margaret Pierce Howard on Dec. 13, 1949.
Mary grew up in the Wewoka area and graduated in 1968 from Wewoka High School.
She suffered a fall while still in high school, which left her disabled but did not daunt her will or spirit.
Mary continued her education and received her Associate’s degree from St. Gregory’s in Shawnee, and her Associate’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma.
She dedicated her life to her family and friends, and especially her nieces and nephews, who were her greatest joy.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Robert and Pam Howard, Hobbs, N.M., John C. and Carolyn Howard, Oklahoma City, Margaret and Dave Snyder, Edmond, Barbara M. Griggs, Yukon, Pascal and Janet Howard, Morgan City, La., Joan and John Imes, Oklahoma City, James and Tracy Howard, Norman and Philip and Jane Howard, Wewoka; 28 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chad Willimon, Jon Derouen, John A. Howard, James E. Howard, Kyle Kiker, Jeremy Howard, Tim Howard, and Lance Snyder.
Honorary bearers will be Robert Howard, John C. Howard, Lee P. Howard, Pascal Howard, James Howard, Philip Howard, and Robert Lee.
Bill Howell
Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Bill Howell were held March 28at Branstetter-Merritt Funeral Home with interment at Resthaven Gardens.
He was born March 30, 1928 in Seminole to Jesse and Lula (Burton) Howell and died on March 25, 2003.
He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1946.
He was in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
He worked for Continental Bakery, Altec Lansing and retired from IEC in 1990.
He married Frances Jeanne Carter on July 10, 1965, and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
His parents and beloved wife preceded him in death.
His daughter Karen survives him.
Naomi Kaye Howell
Wake service for lifelong Seminole resident, Naomi Kaye Howell have been scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the family home located at 1752 N. Ideal.
She died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at the age of 53 in Shawnee.
She was born Sept.4, 1949 in Seminole to Utah E. Smith and Margaret Agnes (Curley) Smith.
She was married to her first husband, Jimmy Lindsay and her second husband, Bobby Clower, Sr.
She had been working as the kitchen supervisor at Seminole Estates since October.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her first husband, Jimmy Lindsay of Oklahoma City; her second husband, Bobby Clower, Sr. of Wolf; two sons, Timothy Quinn Lindsay of Shawnee and Bobby Clower of Seminole; two daughters, Sherri Fixico of Shawnee and Julia Clower of Bowlegs; one brother, William Howell of Seminole; two sisters, Betty Mason of Seminole and Shirley Deatherage of Shawnee; and 12 grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Warren Hubbard
Funeral services for former Lima resident Warren Kenneth Hubbard are pending in San Diego, Calif.
Hubbard died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 in San Diego.
He grew up in Lima and attended Lima Elementary School and Douglas High School in Wewoka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. W.W. and Beatrice Hubbard; and one sister, Edna Posey.
Hubbard is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Michael; two daughters, Terrie and Helena Hubbard; one grandson; three brothers, James of National City, Calif., Alfred of Washington, D.C., and Ural of Colorado Springs of Colo.; and seven sisters, Jean Wright of Seminole, Lois Broussard, Vera Jones, Veinedy Wright, Hope Hayes, Faye Jones of Maryland, and Glenn Dora Grant of Wichita, Kans.
Carroll Melvin Hudson
Funeral services for Carroll Melvin Hudson, father-in-law of Seminole resident Cindy Hudson, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Baptist Church.
Pastor Jim Evans will officiate, with the message being brought by Pastor Mike Raines of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church of Norman.
Burial will follow at the Sickles Cemetery in Lookeeba-Sickles, under the direction of Turner Funeral Home of Hinton.
Melvin passed away Friday, March 7, 2003.
He was born to Oland Hudson and Floy Blood on June, 22, 1932 in Binger (Willow)
Melvin was a resident of the Manor Care Nursing Facility in Warr Acres.
He was raised on the family farm, and attended school at Eakly.
After military service in the U.S. Army from 1955-1956, being stationed at Ft. Sill, Melvin became a truck driver and then a Missionary Baptist Preacher in Shawnee.
Melvin pastored churches in Konawa and Carnegie.
He also helped build Hwy 99 between Ada and Seminole, and operated and built bridges for Seminole County for 13 years.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lavon Hudson Childers, Lavern Hudson Cecil, and Melba Fay Hudson Clay; and one step-grandchild, Jacob Paul Raines.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nelvin and Cindy Hudson, on daughter, Jawanna Moore and her husband Chuck; step-children, Kerman Raines, Mike Raines and his wife Mona Raines, and Ann Haven and her husband Jack. Havens; three grandchildren, Michael David Hudson, Derrik Thomas, and Chad Thomas; four step-grandchildren, Sara Raines Fawcett, Matt Raines, Ravin Werthen, and Rozi Werthen; two step-great-grandchildren, Sydney Fawcett, and Jacob Cale Raines; and one sister, Jowanna Jean Hudson of Anadarko.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cecil, Robert Childers, Donnie Chambers, Lonnie King, Warren Miller, and Rex Miller.
Honorary bearers will be J.T. Heard of Konawa, Junior Price of Konawa, and Leon Branscum of Perry.
