Mark Steven Lane

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Mark Steven Lane are scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. at the Vamoosa Cemetery in Konawa under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home .

He died June 20, 2003, at the ate of 49 at his home in Konawa.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1953, in San Diego, Calif. to Gerald Lane and Shirley (Morrow) Radford.

He was a longtime resident of Bay City, Texas before moving to Konawa.

He was a computer tech for WPS, Inc. in Ada.

He graduated from East Central University in Ada with a degree in business.

He also attended Pontotoc County Vo-Tech in Ada.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Radford of Konawa; father and stepmother, Gerald and Faye Lane of Baton Rouge, La.; grandmother, Gladys Morrow of Konawa; three brothers, David Lane of West Lake Village, Calif., Curtis Radford of Konawa and Eric Lane of Baton Rouge, La.; and two sisters, Laura Glasgow of Fort Worth, Texas and Saundra Lane Garrett of Baton Rouge, La.

Services will be officiated by Richard Winters.

Margaret Langston

Graveside services for Margaret Langston, sister of Seminole resident, Don Haigood, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 in the G.A.R. Cemetery under the direction of the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.

Billy Bissell will officiate the services.

She died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at the age of 87 at the Grove Nursing Center after an illness.

Langston was born April 25, 1916, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Jake Lee and Florence Haigwood.

She married Chester C. Langston on Dec. 24, 1933, in Blue Eye, Ark.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce as well as the WMU.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester C. Langston on Dec. 24, 1992; one brother, Jake Lee Haigwood and two sisters, Irma Florence Wilson and Clairebelle Thomasson.

She is survived by six sons, Creal Langston of Interlachen, Fla., John "W:" Langston of Grove, Carl Gene Langston or Rural Miami, Gayle D. Langston of Wyandotte, Jim D. Langston of Galveston, Texas and Jerry D. Langston of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Sibyle Faith Warder of Winter Haven, Fl., Willa M. Morris of Joplin, Mo. and Claire Hammer Schmidt of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; two brothers, Don Haigwood of Seminole and Mac Henry Haigwood of Vallejo, Calif.; 28 grand children, 25 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren .

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Guilford-Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.

Michele Lea ‘Shelly’ LaPach

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident, Michele Lea "Shelly" LaPach are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Juanita Morlan officiating.

Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

LaPach died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at the age of 27 at her home in Seminole.

She was born Jan.9, 1976, in Seminole to Michael Lee Burkhart and Judy (Hart) Smith.

She was a homemaker and attended Bowlegs Schools.

Lapach was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bert Burkhart, Oneta and Ray Hart, and Helen and Ben Smith.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Judy and Ronald Smith of Seminole; father and stepmother, Michael and Sandy Burkhart of Seminole; three children, Keith Scott Lapach, Chad Allen LaPach and Donavon Jayce Griffis, all of Seminole; one sister, Regina Fay Turner of Seminole and her grandmother, Melvin Burkhart of Letha.

Casket bearers will be Billy Hart, Mike Hart, David Lozer, Dwayne Lozer, Danny Lozer and Wendell Smith.

Carl Lawson

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Carl L. Lawson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Perry Justice officiating.

Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

He died Oct. 19, 2003, at the age of 79 at Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Ramona to Garland and Grace Lawson.

He attended Wewoka Schools and married Virginia Meek on May 2, 1943, who preceded him in death.

Lawson then married Laura Lawrence on Feb. 21, 1957, and was married to her for over 46 years.

He was an avid golfer, a medic in the Marine Corp during the Korean War, was in the National Guard—45th Infantry, 32nd Mason, former treasurer of United Methodist Men and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service.

He and Laura traveled with the Good Sam Club after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia Lawson, two brothers, Lloyd and Art Lawson and one sister, Pauline Bullard.

He is survived by his wife, Laura, of the home; two sons, Larry Lawson of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Steven Lawson of Shawnee; one daughter, Sandra Fields of Yukon; four grandsons; one granddaughter and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Lawson, Jared Lawson, Stephen Lee Lawson, Ron K. Fields II, Eddie Colbert and Randy Chaney.

Honorary bearers will be Warren Jones, Clifford Christ, Paul Loeffelholz, Fred Lacquement, Bennie Wilkerson and Clyde Spencer.

Ruby Leabo

Memorial services for Ruby (Yott).Leabo of Chandler, sister of a Seminole County resident, are planned for a later date .

She died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the age of 50 in Ada after a struggle with emphysema and cancer.

She was born May 24, 1953, in Asher to Florence (Herriman) Yott and George Yott.

She married Bob Leabo on Dec. 15, 1971.

She attended Asher school and was head cook at the Chandler Senior center for several years, a job she loved and she was loved by everyone.

She was employed by the Steer Inn Restaurant for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Gean and one grandson, Dakota.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; two daughters, Lee Ann Leabo of Chandler and Kathy Hernandez; three granddaughters; five brothers, Arlis Yott of Konawa, Darrell Yott and David Yott of Asher, Marvin Yott of Oklahoma City and Raymond Yott of McComb; three sisters, Georgie Tyron of Oklahoma City Lucy Glenn and Linda Sue Craft of Shawnee; and several other relatives.

Glenna Leach

Graveside services for former Seminole resident, Glenna Leach are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, with Charlie Clem officiating, under the direction of Swearing Funeral Home of Seminole.

She died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the age of 83 at Prague Municipal Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1920, in Cooper, Texas to A.T. Taylor and Lula (Middlebrook) Taylor.

She married Roy Leach, who preceded her in death in 1962.

She lived in Seminole for over 20 years, Atoka for 20 years and spent the last three years of her life living at Parkland Manor Nursing Home in Prague.

She was a former grocery store owner and a school cook at New Lima Schools for many years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Speer of Shawnee; two granddaughters, Robin Self and Kelly Richards; and five great grandchildren, Jordan Self, Jarrett Self, Jonah Self, Cameron Richards and Kennedi Richards.

Ruby Leabo

Mary Vivian Squires’ Ledgerwood

Services for longtime Seminole County resident, Mary Vivian ‘Squires’ Ledgerwood of Wewoka are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Wewoka.

She went to see her savior on Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Unity Health Center in Shawnee.

She was born Sept. 24, 1908, in Walters to Jessie Lynn and Vivian Jane (Pierson) Squires.

She attended East Central University and graduated in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in education.

She taught school for 31 years and retired from Holdenville in 1974.

She married Walter Carl Ledgerwood Dec. 31, 1936.

He preceded her in death Oct. 1987.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Dale Squires of Sherman, Texas, ‘Abie’ Floyd Squires, Glen ‘Ikey’ Haberley Squires; two son in laws, Dr. John V. White and J.D. Barkhimer.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Barkhimer and Mary White; one special sister, Minna Lo Squires one sister-in-law, Ineze Squires; four grandchildren, Annetta Troglin, Clifford and Carol Cook, Carl and Rhonda Barkhimer, all of wewoka and Matthew and Debra King of New London, Conn.; six great grandchildren, Rodney and Jessica Troglin, Mike and Ronda Morris, Jennifer and Jeff Cook, Blaine and Seth Barkhimer; and one great-great granddaughter, Britlee Ann Morris.

Pall bearers are Carl Barkhimer, Clifford Cook, Rodney Troglin, Jeff Cook, Blaine Barkhimer and Seth Barkhimer.

Interment will follow at Tate Mountain, Seminole County.

Services will be under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
